Third win for Ogier with victory in Rally of Sardinia

Eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier picked up his third win of the season with victory in the Rally of Sardinia on Sunday.
The Toyota driver, who is not competing in the full 14 rounds of the WRC, began the day 17 seconds ahead of Ott Tanak (Hyundai), enabling him to control the rally from the front until a late error almost cost him the win.

On the final stage, Ogier failed to turn into a tight corner carved with deep ruts and was forced to stop and reverse before restarting.
"In the ruts, I just couldn't turn the car," said Ogier.
"There was no speed at all, so I didn't try to force it and hit it. I preferred to stop and reverse. Not ideal. Still, it was enough to win."
Ogier's fifth win in Sardinia and his 64th career victory lifts him to second in the title race, 19 points behind leader Elfyn Evans, who could only finish fourth in his Toyota.
"We have to be satisfied with this weekend," said a positive Evans who lost time with a wheel change on Saturday.

"We didn't have any major problems and we're in the championship battle with these guys (who finished ahead of him). They were very fast."
The Estonian Tanak closed the gap to Ogier to 8sec but had to settle for second ahead of another Toyota driver, Finland's Kalle Rovanpera who came in 50sec off the lead and drops to third in the title race, a point behind Ogier.
It was Toyota's sixth victory in six rallies this season and meant the same podium for the second rally running following Portugal in mid-May.
Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) rounded out the top five while reigning world champion Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) went off the road on Friday's fifth stage and finished outside the points in 19th position.
The next round of the WRC is the Acropolis Rally which takes place in Greece at the end of June.

Also, the asking price is $82,000 so you really need to want one of these things to even seriously consider it. Plus, the owner says you have to put down a $500 deposit and be supervised to take it for a spin, so he's filtering for genuine buyers only. If that doesn't scare you off, this Saxon 105 is pretty cool and we don't see too many up for sale these days. The seller says the tires are new, so that's a plus. There are two telescoping cameras that are joystick controlled, two monitors, night vision, and upgraded LED lights in the cabin. Just keep in mind the interior is a little rough, but that's to be expected with a decommissioned military vehicle. Maybe you're the one to make this a bougie Saxon 105? Directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, with Hamilton serving as both producer and authenticity guardian, the movie faced immense pressure to 'get it right.' Formula 1 fans are notoriously unforgiving and hard to please. Yet against the odds, F1 is a gripping, visually electric experience that respects the sport. On top of that, Hans Zimmer's roaring soundtrack is just icing on the cake. Brad Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a retired driver who returns to the F1 track to help a struggling F1 team reach the top and mentor rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, halfway through the season. On paper, it's a recycled storyline, yet on screen it feels fresh thanks to the believable push and pull between Pitt and Idris, and countless behind-the-scenes touches only Hamilton could enforce. In fact, Hamilton insisted the director use real F1 commentators — David Croft and Martin Brundle instead of actors. That pays off in a big way. From the visceral roar of engines at Silverstone to real-life team garages and driver cameos, it often feels like Drive to Survive, just with sharper visuals and a tighter story. But even Hamilton couldn't keep everything on track. The film tries to juggle high-stakes racing with off-track drama, leading to an awkward driver dinner that tries too hard to blend off-track bonding. A glaring misfire? 'Plan C' — a wild plot twist where Sonny intentionally crashes multiple times to bring out a safety car and give Pearce a tactical advantage. Did they forget the Crashgate Scandal at 2008 Singapore GP? It's an eye-roll moment for hardcore fans who know that orchestrating crashes is unthinkable in real F1. The film also drops the ball on its female characters. Kate, the sport's first female technical director on screen, is barely explored, missing a chance to show what it means to break barriers in such a male-dominated world. Meanwhile, a female pit crew member becomes another cliche — fumbling tools and enduring a smug 'of course' from Pearce. Even if meant to highlight pressure, it comes off lazy and thin. Still, F1 delivers on what matters most. Kosinski's breathtaking sequences, Zimmer's pulse-quickening score, Hamilton's dedication to realism, the movie is loud, fast and a reckless thrill ride.
