Tennessee Titans' best moments: When AJ Brown shook off four Ravens for TD
We'll mention some other guys here and there. Kevin Dyson, Drew Bennett, Derrick Mason, Chris Sanders, Courtney Roby, Justin McCareins, Kenny Britt, Nate Washington, Lavelle Hawkins and Corey Davis are all going to come up. But the arc of Titans history bends away from wide receivers.
Is this the burden of following the Titans? Your team can develop generational running backs, safeties and punters, but excitement from the most exciting position on the field must always elude you. Are the Titans a modern-day Tantalus, and star wide receivers nothing but the juicy, dangling fruit just outside of your reach?
Honestly . . . maybe?
Think back to Nov. 22, 2020.
The Titans are facing the Baltimore Ravens in an eerily quiet COVID-restricted stadium. Baltimore's up 21-16 with two minutes left, but the Titans are driving. QB Ryan Tannehill drops back and finds A.J. Brown running an in-breaking route just across the 10-yard line. Brown makes the catch and is immediately apprehended by safety Chuck Clark, about six yards shy of the first-down marker.
Brown shrugs Clark off, flipping his hips and reorienting toward the sideline. Cornerback Marcus Peters lurches, but Brown wiggles away and reorients again, this time toward the end zone. Now it's cornerback Marlon Humphrey's turn to take a swing at Brown, who sidesteps Humphrey and lowers his shoulder into linebacker Patrick Queen, leg-driving him six yards into the end zone.
Clark, Peters, Humphrey and Queen have combined to make nine Pro Bowls and six All-Pro teams. Brown ran through them like tearaway banners before a high school football jamboree.
In so many ways, Brown was the ideal Titans receiver. Big, strong, muscled like a running back, yet graceful and agile enough to glide through the open field and down the sideline. A modern-day Terrell Owens, both on the field and, well . . . you know the rest.

This moment stands out for precisely that reason. Brown wasn't just the best young receiver the Titans ever developed. He was a great, young, homegrown talent who so perfectly encapsulated the identity the Titans spent 20 years forging up to that point.
This play highlights that. This moment is the precise instant when the Titans finally found their kind of star receiver.
For however briefly it lasted.

Lamar Jackson becomes second Louisville football player to join Madden's 99 Club
For the first time in his NFL career, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has earned his way into the Madden video game franchise's 99 Club. EA Sports announced July 28 Jackson would be among the members of The 99 Club in Madden 26. The former Louisville quarterback is one of seven players earning the honor this year, marking the most since Madden 19's release ahead of the 2018 NFL season. Jackson's inclusion in The 99 Club comes after he racked up 5,087 total yards and 45 total touchdowns while leading the Ravens to a 12-5 regular-season record. He led the league both in passer rating (119.6) and QBR (77.3) while his interception percentage of 0.8% was second-best in the league behind only Justin Herbert (0.6%). Jackson's stellar performance allowed him to finish second in the league's MVP voting for 2024 behind Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. It was also enough to get him into The 99 Club, about which he expressed excitement while receiving a flashy chain honoring his induction into the exclusive fraternity. "Aye, this is crazy," Jackson said of the chain. "I appreciate you guys. Shoutout to Madden for putting me in the 99 club again. Let's get ready for this season." Jackson's previous high rating came in Madden 25, when he earned a preseason mark of 98 overall. He has had a rating of at least 91 in five of the last six Madden releases, with his 87 rating in Madden 23 serving as the outlier. Jackson joined linebacker Ray Lewis, offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden and safety Ed Reed as the only Ravens players to be a part of Madden's 99 Club. The veteran quarterback is also the second Louisville product to earn the honor; former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers was the first to do so in Madden 06. Dolphins sign OL Germain Ifedi with starter Austin Jackson out several weeks with an injury
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Dolphins starting offensive tackle Austin Jackson will miss several weeks with a leg injury after being stepped on at practice but is expected to return by Miami's season opener against the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 7. Coach Mike McDaniel said the injury isn't related to the knee injury that sidelined Jackson for the final eight games in 2024. 'He got the injury playing football," McDaniel said Sunday. 'Got stepped on. Has nothing to do with anything but that. With Austin, the bottom line for me where he's at — out of all the guys, I would say — he had some time off, he knocked some rust off, he got back and in my opinion exceeded where he was playing before, so we're fortunate that timetable doesn't seen to be into the regular season.' With the injury, the Dolphins signed veteran offensive lineman Germain Ifedi on Sunday. Ifedi, who has played at guard and tackle, has 90 starts with Cleveland, Chicago and Seattle. The team also waived quarterback Brett Gabbert and activated safety Ifeatu Melifonwu off the non-football injury list. Melifonwu has missed the start of training camp, but will be a needed addition to the Dolphins secondary, which has had cornerback Kader Kohou (season-ending knee injury) and safety Ashtyn Davis (leg) go down in the first few weeks of practice. Tennessee Titans training camp: Sights and sounds from Day 9
The Tennessee Titans finished off another practice at training camp with the entire team running sprints after an intense and uneven day of work. The defense bounced back and had an outstanding day, frustrating the offense and forcing turnovers. The morning practice also had the first two real altercations, with Mason Kinsey and Jarvis Brownlee getting into a shoving match, followed by Jeffery Simmons and JC Latham, who were chirping at each other throughout the session. Head coach Brian Callahan was not happy with the offense's execution on a day when Cam Ward and the unit struggled. He finished practice by tearing into the offense for their poor performance.
