IKEA Just Launched the "Smartest" Collection — And This is the One Thing I'm Buying ASAP
If you've been wanting to dive into the smart home lifestyle, but haven't done so because you just don't like the way all those techy devices look, I've got good news for you. Just months after announcing the end of its SONOS speaker collaboration, IKEA's popular smart home lineup is getting a major overhaul — and you can buy one of these aesthetically pleasing yet affordable new devices right now. Get ready to go way beyond KALLAX hacks and into fully integrated living.
IKEA confirmed it'll be releasing 20 new offerings over the next few months in a press release on Wednesday, July 9. Fans can look forward to a new generation of Matter-over-Thread-compatible sensors, smart lights, remotes, and, most importantly, speakers, that will roll out in the coming months. (For the uninitiated, Matter and Thread are smart home standards. Matter 'is the language that smart home devices speak,' while Thread 'is the network they use to communicate,' per MatterAlpha.com.)
For the non-techy folks, this can all sound like confusing tech babble. But it's not — IKEA says this move will make its smart home products easier to use for anyone, so you can simply 'plug and play.' The best part? The IKEA DIRIGERA smart hub now allows you to connect your IKEA tech with other branded products (such as Apple, Amazon, Google, and Samsung) that you already own, making your entire home's smart system much more integrated and seamless.
Drumming up the excitement early, IKEA gave buyers a preview of its brand-new smart home lineup by releasing its NATTBADD Bluetooth Speaker on July 9 — and the retro yet futuristic design costs less than $50.

Despite its futuristic appearance, the new NATTBADD Bluetooth Speaker is designed to look like a vintage radio while featuring all the state-of-the art capabilities that you'd expect from your Bluetooth speaker. Available for just $49.99, the NATTBADD Bluetooth Speaker comes in either a canary yellow (my personal favorite colorway) as well as a black or nude hue depending on the vibe of your home.
Shaped with a half-moon design on top and a square base, the compact speaker won't take up much space with its 7-inch height, nearly 5-inch width, and just under 4-inch length. However, the simplicity of the design (there are just two buttons in the front) is misleading, because you can simply tap a button to zero in on the Spotify Tap functionality, or opt to go into multi-speaker mode to connect to other NATTBAD speakers around your space.
IKEA fans who are looking for a speaker with a little pizzazz will want to wait out for the BLOMPRAKT Speaker with Light, which will be rolling out in October. The table speaker looks like a light blue sci-fi-inspired lamp at first glance, but you can also use it to play your favorite music without taking up any extra space on your desk or bedside table.
In addition to the BLOMPRAKT Speaker with Light's release in October, IKEA will be rolling out a new line of speakers in collaboration with Swedish designer Tekla Severin in January 2026. IKEA of Sweden's David Granath told The Verge that the company will also be releasing new product categories next January and April.

Apple's Disappointing MacBook Pro Delay
New MacBook Pro laptops are displayed during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 (Photo by ... More JOSH EDELSON/AFP via Getty Images) Apple is on course to release the new iPhone 17 family in September, but the outlook for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro fans is not as rosy. Apple looks to have delayed the release of the new macOS hardware into 2026. MacBook Pro Launch Date Details The new date comes from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Reporting on Apple's upcoming portfolio (including the long-suspected iPhone 17e), he notes that the upgraded MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops may not arrive until 2026. Until now, the expectation has been that Apple would introduce the M5 —the next desktop classic Apple Silicon chipset—before the end of the year with new versions of the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. This would be a similar path to the release of the Apple Silicon M4 last year, but not identical. The M4 was launched ahead of Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in May 2024 and debuted inside the seventh generation of the iPad Pro almost immediately. That was followed in the fall with the M4 MacBook Pro, MacBook Pro Max and MacBook Pro Max. Delaying The MacBook Pro The Apple Silicon M5 has yet to show up in 2025. The Worldwide Developer Conference came and went with nary a sight of the new silicon. Neither has the next iPad Pro or the MacBook Pro. Many have been looking at the traditional October dates for the release of the MacBook M5 family, potentially with the iPad Pro arriving at the same time. Gurman's report pushes back this launch date into 2026. Apple has taken this route before, with the MacBook Pro M2 pushed back into January 2023. Unlike the iPhone, which has an almost mythical need to launch in the second week in September. Arguably, that's linked to the one-year contracts provided by networks, and there's no such historical support for buying laptops and desktops. Keeping The MacBook Pro On An Annual Schedule That gives Apple a little bit more of a cushion ot get things right rather than follow a strict schedule, at least for hardware. The annual updates across the operating systems does refresh the ecosystem every twelve months. With the increased demand for artificial intelligence and Apple's push to process as much data locally, the demands on computing power are climbing ever upwards. In part, that demand is driving the update. It may not be as traditional as the locked-in September date, but with the operating system on an annual update cycle, and the Apple Silicon chipsets on a similar schedule, annual updates of the Mac hardware are inevitable. A Dave Ramsey Follower Pushes Back On His 15-Year Mortgage Rule. With Today's Housing Prices, He Says It's Just Not Reasonable
Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below. A longtime Dave Ramsey follower is questioning one of the personal finance personality's golden rules: the 15-year fixed mortgage. 'I know Dave is for 15-year fixed rate mortgages, but in this day in time I find that to be unreasonable with housing prices,' the original poster wrote in a Reddit thread recently. The poster, who lives in a small town in South Georgia, said homes are going for $250,000 or more, with even trailers pushing into the $200,000 range. On a $67,350 salary, he asked if it was more realistic to aim for 30% of take-home pay on a mortgage instead of Ramsey's recommended 25%. Don't Miss: Warren Buffett once said, "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die." Here's , starting today. $100k+ in investable assets? – no cost, no obligation. That seemed to touch a nerve in some Redditors. 'The math is still the math,' one commenter responded. 'The rules he provides are to ensure that you waste the least amount of wealth-building potential on bank interest.' Others agreed that while the 25% rule is wise in theory, it doesn't always line up with reality in today's market. '25% is not a hard line but rather a guide,' one user shared. 'They just caution you the further you go above that line, the harder it becomes to reach your financial goals.' Many said they opted for 30-year loans but made extra principal payments to shorten the term. One wrote, 'I have a 30-year but add extra to the principal each month, which basically turns it into a 10-year.' Trending: It's no wonder Jeff Bezos holds over $250 million in art — Another said they refinanced from a 30-year to a 25-year, then to a 20-year, and are now on track to pay the house off in 13 years. "Not the optimal path, but it worked for us," they added. Some noted that financial flexibility is key. "I didn't really pay attention to the percentage of my income because I have a budget and knew what I could afford," one person commented. Plenty of Redditors expressed frustration with the idea that everyone can realistically follow Ramsey's guidelines. 'To get my payment under $1,000, I would need a down payment of $220,000, or 12 years of saving,' one person calculated. 'We are screwed in the new generation. I did what I was supposed to do... and yet I will be stuck renting my whole life with roommates.' Another said they make $68,000 a year in a lower-cost state and still couldn't find a house under $300,000. 'I have given up on ever affording a home and I am OK with my several roommates and renting.'Several people pushed back against the idea that renting is a waste. 'Rent equals the most you'll pay that year. Period. Something breaks, the landlord covers it,' one said. With a house, you're on the hook for everything—tax increases, repairs, insurance, closing costs. Despite the criticism, many commenters said Ramsey's overall philosophy of living below your means, avoiding debt, and planning for the future still holds up. 'You can do whatever you want,' one person wrote. 'But Dave's recommendations are based on decades of experience with thousands upon thousands of families.' But even some of Ramsey's loyalists admitted that times have changed. '$1,000 in 2025 doesn't cover a f***ing thing,' one said, referring to the starter emergency fund amount.
