Malaysian darts pair reach historic World Cup last-16
Tengku Hadzali Shah-Tan Jenn Ming fell to a 8-3 defeat against 14th seeds Karel Sedlacek-Petr Krivka of the Czech Republic.
The Malaysian pair had earlier made history by reaching the knockout round for the first time, after topping Group F with impressive 4-1 wins over 10th seeds Matt Campbell-Jim Long of Canada on Thursday, and Denmark's Benjamin Drue Reus-Andreas Hyllgaardhus on Friday.
Tengku Hadzali-Jenn Ming earned their spot in the tournament after beating Singapore and Taiwan to win the Asia Qualifiers.
A total of 36 countries took part in the group stage, divided into 12 groups.
Only the group winners advanced to the round of 16.
The top four seeded teams — defending champions England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland — were given byes into the last 16.

Opening round cheer for Jin Wei in Macau
KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttler Goh Jin Wei reached the second round in only her third tournament of the season after winning her opening match at the Macau Open today. The Malaysian world No. 47 beat Denmark's world No. 54 Amalie Schulz 21-14, 21-12, in 24 minutes at the East Asian Games Dome. Jin Wei has struggled for form this year, having suffered first-round exits in six of eight tournaments. She advanced to the second round at the Swiss Open and Asia Championships in March and April respectively. Prior to the Macau Open, she suffered consecutive first-round defeats at the Indonesia Open, Malaysia Masters, and Thailand Open. However, Jin Wei faces a tough second round match, against China's world No. 5 Chen Yu Fei. In the men's singles, Cheam June Wei lost in the first round to Indonesia's 2023 World Junior champion Alwi Farhan. World No. 68 June Wei went down 21-16, 21-14 to the world No. 25th Indonesian. In an all-Malaysian mixed doubles affair, Loo Bing Kun-Go Pei Kee came from behind to edge Wee Yee Hern-Chan Wen Tse 13-21, 21-15, 21-19. Bing Kun-Pei Kee will next face Indonesia's Amri Syahnawi-Nita Marwah.

Badminton legend Lee Chong Wei receives Datuk Seri honour
FORMER world number one and national badminton legend Lee Chong Wei was awarded the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN) on Wednesday, earning him the title of Datuk Seri. The three-day ceremony was held as part of celebrations marking the 84th birthday of Penang's Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, according to Stadium Astro. Lee Chong Wei dominated world badminton for 349 weeks at the top ranking, including an unbroken 199-week streak from 2008 to 2012. The Penang native won three Olympic silver medals — at the Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Rio 2016 Games — making him the only Malaysian athlete to reach the Olympic podium three times in a row and the country's most decorated Olympian. Badminton Association of Malaysia president Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz received the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), also carrying the Datuk Seri title. Sports Commissioner Suhardi Alias was among those receiving the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN), which grants the Datuk title.
