Police make firearm-related arrest No. 11 at Naperville Topgolf lot since early February
Delfino Andrade Jr., 32, of Chicago, was taken into custody Saturday night on felony charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 23, according to DuPage County Circuit Court records.
Officers were conducting a proactive patrol outside the 3211 Odyssey Court business when the odor of cannabis drew their attention to a specific area of the facility's lot, Naperville police Cmdr. Rick Krakow said.
Looking inside a parked, unoccupied vehicle, they observed several open alcohol containers and a handgun in plain view beneath the driver's seat, Krakow said.
A check of the vehicle owner's registration showed Andrade did not possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card. After he returned to the vehicle and got into the driver's seat, officers conducted a search, recovered a Glock 21 handgun from the car and found suspected cocaine in Andrade's pocket, Krakow said.
After a nearly four-month break, gun-related arrests outside the facility started up again in early February. Last month alone, police made five arrests in the business' lot.Most recently, police arrested Roberto Chacon, 28, of Alsip, on May 17 on a felony charge of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon as well as one charge each of possession of cannabis and unlawful use of cannabis by a driver.
Ahead of this year, Naperville police made 25 arrests on gun-related offenses outside Topgolf between August 2023 and October 2024.

The Friday Night Latin District brings culture and community back to downtown L.A.
Ever since targeted raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement swept downtown L.A. in June — which were followed by protests and subsequent arrests — foot traffic in the area has greatly reduced, and local businesses have struggled to keep up the same momentum as before. As a result, downtown L.A. event coordinators banded together to revive the area's nightlife with the Friday Night Latin District: a coalition of Latino-owned bars dedicated to hosting weekly cultural celebrations. Comprising bars like Las Perlas, La Cita, the Association and A Toda Madre, the Friday Night Latin District is a corridor that offers a 'safe, reliable and culture-rich' experience for locals to kick off their weekend. 'Our goal is not to just bring all the big bars together,' said Kenny Castro-Andrade, founder of the nightlife collective Calle Ocho. 'We wanna work on a cycle of introducing a big venue that's already at capacity and then a smaller venue to redirect those people so that they can learn about a new venue they didn't know about,' he added. When Castro-Andrade moved to L.A. from Miami in 2020, he noticed the nightlife in downtown L.A. did not reflect the 48% Hispanic population that makes up the county (according to the 2023 Census). Inspired by the Wynwood district in Miami, he created Calle Ocho with friends Vlademir Onofre and George Trevino in November 2024 as a way of integrating young Latinos into the downtown L.A. scene. In June, Calle Ocho held one of its first events at the Association on 6th Street. Patrons were evacuated from the building because of smoke filtering in through the shared ventilation from the building next door — but instead of sending everyone home, they encouraged them to take the party to Las Perlas. With this rapid act of problem-solving, and in the face of a bad situation, the Friday Night Latin District was born. Castro-Andrade aspires to bring the rhythm back by growing the Latin District and involving more venues. Without the people who make up the heart of L.A., from patrons to bartenders and other service industry workers, the nightlife of the city could cease to exist. 'Friday Night Latin District gives Angelenos a chance to rediscover downtown in a new light, while also giving local and small businesses the support they need during a time of need,' Castro-Andrade said.

An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt: A 58-year-old man from Naperville was arrested on charges of driving too fast for conditions, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and driving without insurance at 2:50 p.m. July 16 at Raymond Drive and North River Road. A 29-year-old woman from Berwyn was arrested on a warrant and on a charge of obstructing identification at 4:52 p.m. July 17 in the 2500 block of West 75th Street. Afternoon Briefing: Latest Naperville ‘teen takeover' results in multiple arrests
Good afternoon, Chicago. After Naperville police allegedly found a 14-year-old carrying a loaded, semiautomatic pistol at a downtown 'teen takeover' event last weekend, authorities are urging safety and, again, stressed they have zero tolerance for illicit behavior. 'While we encourage everyone to exercise their first amendment right and we encourage everyone to enjoy what the downtown provides, we need everyone to do that lawfully,' Naperville police Cmdr. Rick Krakow said. 'There's going to be zero tolerance for any sort of criminal behavior, from trespassing to disorderly conduct to fighting.' Since May 1, there have been seven planned teen takeover events in Naperville, each with varying degrees of participation, Krakow said. The latest, held Saturday, resulted in five arrests, including that of the 14-year-old, who was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a weapon, authorities said.
