Lionel Messi grabs another double as Inter Miami ease to victory
After Alexander Hack had given the hosts an early lead, Jordi Alba equalised in the 24th minute with a left-footed strike into the top-right corner after a delightful through ball by Messi.
Miami took the lead soon after as the Argentine again found Alba, who fed Telasco Segovia to make it 2-1.
Segovia added his second on the brink of half-time before Messi got on the scoresheet himself in the 60th minute, slotting a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner after a fast break and through ball from Sergio Busquets.
He struck again 25 minutes later, collecting a pass from Luis Suarez to cap off the rout with Miami's fifth and his 18th MLS goal of the season.
Messi has scored twice in six of the last seven matches and Miami are fifth in the Eastern Conference, six points off top spot with three games in hand.

Miami Dolphins' Bayron Matos airlifted to hospital after injury in practice
Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Bayron Matos was airlifted to a local hospital on Wednesday after suffering an injury during the final minutes of the team's first training camp practice. The team confirmed Matos, 24, is in stable condition but declined to disclose the nature of the injury. Teammates and staff gathered around Matos for more than 10 minutes as medical personnel attended to him on the field. A helicopter was brought in to transport him for further evaluation. 'It's a really heartbreaking part of the game,' said veteran lineman Austin Jackson. 'Very tough.' Matos' injury cast a shadow over the Dolphins' opening session, though the team insisted it was not the reason practice ended early after 90 minutes. First-day sessions are typically shorter, a team official said. A towering 6ft 7in and 334lb, Matos has taken one of the more unusual paths to the NFL. Born in the Dominican Republic, he moved to the United States at 17 to pursue basketball and to learn English. He played two years of college basketball at New Mexico before transferring to South Florida, where he walked on to the football team in 2022 despite having never played organized football. Matos appeared in two games that season as a defensive lineman before switching to the offensive line, where he found his footing. After just one year of college football, he was signed by the Dolphins in 2024 through the NFL's International Player Pathway Program. Miami valued him highly, guaranteeing him $247,500 – an unusually generous sum for an undrafted rookie – to beat out interest from at least 10 other teams. Though he spent the 2024 season on the practice squad and has yet to appear in a regular-season game, Matos saw preseason action last year and signed a futures contract with Miami in January. He entered training camp as a developmental project with considerable upside, thanks to rare athletic traits including a reported 4.88sec 40-yard dash. 'I want to be one of the best tackles to play in the NFL,' Matos said last year. As of Wednesday evening, there was no timeline for his return. The team said it would provide updates 'as appropriate'.

Tua Tagovailoa: Tyreek Hill rebuilding trust with QB, Dolphins
July 23 - Before Tyreek Hill can run a nine route or post pattern, his quarterback and Miami Dolphins' teammates are eager to cover some other ground. Tua Tagovailoa said Hill is starting to rebuild relationships left somewhere between fractured and entirely flamed when the 31-year-old wide receiver removed himself from the season finale against the New York Jets, ripped teammates and requested, informally, relocation out of Miami. "It's not just with me, it's with a lot of the guys," Tagovailoa said. "I'm not the only one that heard that. You guys aren't the only people that heard that. A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek that are fans of his -- everyone has seen that. So, when you say something like that, you don't just come back from that with, 'Hey, my bad.' You got to work that relationship up, you've got to build everything back up again." Hill publicly signaled he was changing direction on Tuesday, claiming his perspective changed with a pause in the offseason and vowing to be a "better leader" and the "best version" of himself going forward. Tagovailoa said he believes the words are more than that this time, describing Hill as more vulnerable and transparent. "Being vulnerable with some of the things that people know about his personal life and things of that nature. And I think that's the first step to him," Tagovailoa said. "Building true relationships and a real connection with a lot of the guys in there. "Everyone knows what he can do on the field. Everyone respects what he can do on the field, but I think he's still trying to figure things out for himself as well. ... Everybody makes mistakes. ... So just got to cut him some grace. I mean, that's our teammate. We love him, but as a person, if you get to know him, I think you'd love him too." --Field Level Media
