Two police constables shot dead in suspected love triangle in KZN
The victims, a 34-year-old male officer and his girlfriend, were reportedly sitting in the man's car outside his house when the mother of his child, also a constable at the Port Shepstone police station, allegedly opened fire at them.
Both victims later died at Murchison Hospital, The Witness reports.
The incident happened in the Mbayimbayi location, Murchison, Ugu district.
A police source said the man was taken to hospital with multiple gunshots while his girlfriend escaped the scene, but was later found nearby by a neighbour and was also taken to hospital where they both died.
'When the man's brother heard gunshots, he rushed out to check and saw his brother being shot at by the mother of his child, who is also a police constable stationed at Port Shepstone police station,' said a police source.
'The suspect was then traced and found in possession of her service pistol without the magazine.'
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the arrest of a constable in connection with the murders.
'Police in Port Shepstone have arrested a police Constable in connection with the murders of a fellow Constable who is believed to be the father of her child, and another Constable, suspected to be his girlfriend at Murchison location in Mbayimbayi area on Thursday night,' Netshiunda said.
'It is reported that the suspect went to a residence where she found her baby daddy with another woman and opened fire at both of them before leaving the scene of the crime. Both victims were declared dead upon arrival at hospital. The suspect was arrested on Friday and is expected to appear in court on Monday, 21 July 2025,' he said.

Three arrested over ATM card scam in Mpumalanga
Police in Standerton, Mpumalanga, arrested three suspects aged between 33 and 47 on Friday, 18 July 2025, in connection with an ATM card scam. The arrests followed a chase on the R39 road between Morgenzon and Standerton. At around 12:30, a security company responded to a complaint about a card scam at an ATM at a local filling station. CCTV footage captured the suspects and their vehicle, prompting police to patrol the area. The suspects attempted to flee when spotted, but officers intercepted them swiftly. Police found several bank cards in possession of the suspects from Daveyton. Police confiscated the vehicle believed to have been used in the crime. The Standerton District Court will hear the case of the three men on Monday, 21 July 2025. Police are investigating whether the suspects are linked to other similar crimes. Sharp-eyed police officers recover stolen Fortuner before owner realises it's missing
A contractor visiting East Driefontein earlier this month had no idea his Toyota Fortuner had been stolen until police called to inform him they had already recovered it and arrested the suspects. Carletonville Herald reports the man had parked his SUV in the Masakhane Shaft parking area and gone inside, unaware that criminals had already made off with his vehicle. Fortunately, three vigilant members of the West Rand police's flying squad, based in Krugersdorp, were patrolling along the P111 road toward Westonaria when they spotted the Fortuner and found it suspicious, even though it hadn't yet been reported stolen. As officers tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects abandoned it and jumped into a second car. The police gave chase and managed to intercept and arrest all three men in the getaway car. Further investigation revealed that the second vehicle had also been reported stolen during a robbery in Florida earlier this year. Thanks to the sharp instincts and quick action of the flying squad, two stolen vehicles were recovered and three suspects are now behind bars.
