'May God Almighty keep our country safe in such a world of evil,' the pontiff added in a sermon on Saturday while leading the Easter Mass at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo's Abbasiya district.
Pope Tawadros thanked Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Shikeh Ahmed El Tayyeb, former Interim President Adly Mansour, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, as well as the speakers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for their Easter greetings.
He also thanked all ministers, provincial governors, heads of national councils, leaders of political parties, heads of universities and judicial bodies, as well as members of the police and armed forces, diplomats, representatives of media outlets, and public figures for their Easter greetings and good wishes.
Earlier today, Pope Tawadros led the Easter Mass, in the presence of a presidential representative and a great host of ministers, senior statesmen, diplomats, and public and media figures.
The pontiff is expected to receive well-wishers on Easter tomorrow morning at the papal headquarters in Abbasiya.
During a phone call with the top church figure yesterday, the grand Imam of Al-Azhar extended Easter greetings to the pontiff and all Christian brothers, noting that these occasions offer a great opportunity to renew the bonds of brotherhood, love, and harmony among all Egyptians. (MENA)

Abdelatty briefed Gerapetritis on ongoing efforts to reach a permanent Gaza ceasefire, underlining the urgency of halting Palestinian bloodshed and ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian aid into the enclave. On Libya, both sides stressed the importance of holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously as soon as possible. They also called for the dismantling of militias and the withdrawal of all foreign forces, foreign fighters, and mercenaries as a prerequisite for achieving security and stability in the country.

Sisi reiterates Egypt's unwavering support for Lebanon's sovereignty
CAIRO, Aug 4 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, and its categorical rejection of any violations that infringe on Lebanese sovereignty. During a phone call on Monday with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's support for Lebanon's national institutions and their efforts to maintain security and stability. Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed al-Shinawy said the call addressed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, with both leaders stressing their mutual keenness to enhance cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economic, trade, and investment fields, to meet the aspirations of the Egyptian and Lebanese peoples. Sisi underlined Egypt's readiness to assist the Lebanese government in reconstruction efforts. The call also reviewed regional developments and the importance of de-escalation across the region. The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip. They jointly stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, the cessation of Israeli aggression, the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages and detainees, and the swift launch of reconstruction efforts in Gaza. Polling stations open for 2nd day of 2025 Senate elections
Voting resumed at 9am on Tuesday for the second and final day of Egypt's 2025 Senate elections, with polls set to close at 9pm across 8,286 polling stations nationwide. The process is being supervised by 9,500 judges from the State Lawsuits Authority and the Administrative Prosecution Authority. According to the National Elections Authority (NEA), 428 candidates are contesting individual seats—186 running as independents and 242 representing political parties. Preliminary results are expected on 12 August. If no decisive outcome emerges, a runoff will be held both inside and outside Egypt. Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi cast his vote at Fatma Anan School in Fifth Settlement. He emphasized the importance of voter participation, calling it a constitutional right and a civic duty. He encouraged workers in the petroleum sector to take part in choosing their representatives, saying participation reflects national awareness and responsibility. Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa also voted on Tuesday, at his polling station in Mokattam. He similarly described voting as a national obligation and a reflection of Egyptians' commitment to shaping their country's future. The Senate, Egypt's upper chamber of parliament, serves in a consultative capacity, while legislative authority remains with the House of Representatives. The 300-member Senate is composed of three equal segments: one-third elected through individual candidacy, one-third via closed party lists, and one-third appointed by the president.
