Chase and Hope attain career bests in ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings
All-rounder Roston Chase and captain Shai Hope of the West Indies have achieved career best positions in the ICC Men's T20I Player Rankings after some fine performances in the first two T20Is of their five-match home series against Australia which the visiting side lead 2-0. Chase, who struck 60 off just 32 balls in the first T20I in Kingston and scored 76 runs in two matches, has advanced 37 places to 98th among batters and seven places to a career-best second position in the all-rounders' list that is led by India's Hardik Pandya. Chase's previous best was the eighth position that he had reached in December last year. In the latest weekly update that considers performances in the Bangladesh-Pakistan series and those of a tri-series in Zimbabwe also featuring New Zealand and South Africa among other matches this past week, wicketkeeper-batter Hope has attained a career-best 10th position after scoring 64 runs in two matches including a 39-ball 55 in the first match. Australia captain Mitchell Marsh has gained three slots to reach 23rd position, West Indies' batter Brandon King is up four places to 30th while the Bangladesh pair of Tanzid Hasan (up 18 places to 37th) and Towhid Hridoy (up two places to 39th) are others to make notable gains in the top 50 of the batting rankings. Devon Conway of New Zealand and Jaker Ali of Bangladesh are in joint-53rd position after gaining three and 17 places, respectively, while Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman (up eight places to 79th) and Cameron Green of Australia (up 34 places to 88th) have also progressed. In the bowling rankings, Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman's three wickets in two matches have lifted him back into the top 10 as he has advanced 17 places to reach ninth position while his team-mates Mehedi Hasan (up nine places to 16th), Tanzim Hasan Sahib (up nine places to 37th) and Shoriful Islam (up 14 places to 43rd) have also moved up the rankings. New Zealand's Matt Henry (up 13 places to 29th) and Ish Sodhi (up two places to 33rd), Australia's Sean Abbott (up eight places to 44th) and Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed (up 12 places to 49th) are others to move up the list. Bangladesh clinch historic T20 series win over Pakistan
Bangladesh survived a late onslaught by Faheem Ashraf and Ahmed Daniyal to pull off a narrow eight-run victory in the second T20I match on Tuesday, winning a first-ever series in the format against Pakistan. Ashraf hit an aggressive 32-ball 51 while debutant Daniyal smashed an 11-ball 17 but holed out off the second ball of the final over as Pakistan were all out for 125 in their chase of 134 to win in Dhaka. Earlier, Jaker Ali struck a 48-ball 55 as Bangladesh -- sent in to bat -- were bowled out for 133 in 20 overs, with Salman Mirza taking 2-17 and Daniyal close behind on 2-23. Left-arm Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam picked up his best T20I figures of 3-17 on a slow-paced Mirpur pitch as Pakistan lost their first five wickets for just 15 runs by the fifth over. Ashraf cracked four sixes and as many boundaries to raise hopes of a comeback win, but spinner Rishad Hossain bowled him in the penultimate over. Ashraf and Abbas Afridi, who scored a 13-ball 19, had revived the innings from 47-7 with a 41-run stand, but Bangladesh had the last laugh. Bangladesh won the first match at the same venue by seven wickets and took an unassailable 2-0 lead with the final match on Thursday, also in Dhaka. This was Bangladesh's first T20I series win over Pakistan in four tries. Pakistan lost opener Saim Ayub to a run out for one in the first over before Islam dismissed Fakhar Zaman (8) and Mohammad Haris (0) to hit Pakistan hard at the top. Bangladesh skipper Litton Das praised a team effort. "It's wonderful to win back-to-back series," said Litton, who also led the team to a 2-1 T20I series in Sri Lanka last week. "This shows good improvement in our standards." Pakistan captain Salman Agha rued his side's batting lapses. "We thought 134 would be gettable but we lost too many wickets early on and that's something we must address quickly," said Agha. Earlier, Jaker smashed five sixes and a boundary for his third T20I half century. Bangladesh had lost four wickets for 28 by the sixth over before Jaker and Mahedi Hasan revived the innings with a 53-run stand for the fifth wicket. Mahedi scored a 25-ball 33 with two sixes and as many boundaries.

Faheem Ashraf heroics in vain as Bangladesh clinch T20 series win after Pakistan batting fails again
Pakistan batters failed to come to terms with the slow nature of surfaces in Bangladesh once again as the Tigers successfully defended a target of 134 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20 series in Mirpur on Tuesday. Bangladesh batters struggled on a two-paced pitch early on but were powered by a fighting fifty from Jaker Ali (55) and Mahedi Hasan (33). They were the only batters to reach double figures as the hosts battled their way to 133. However, the total proved enough against a batting line-up out of form. Pakistan lost their entire top order in the powerplay as Bangladesh seamers got the ball to move around corners. Pacers Shoriful Islam (3-17) Tanzim Hasan (2-23) decimated Pakistan's line-up, reducing them to 30-6 inside 10 overs. However, the tourists' lower order put up a fight. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf (51 from 32 balls) received excellent support from bowlers Abbas Afridi (19) and Ahmed Daniyal (17) as he took the team closer to the target. Pakistan had battled their way to 106-8 with two overs to go and 28 runs to get. Ashraf and Daniyal went after leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, hitting him for two fours and a six. But Ashraf continued to attack the spinner, losing his stumps on the final ball of the penultimate over to end a heroic innings. Left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman then got the defiant Daniyal caught in the deep as Bangladesh eked out an eight-run win after restricting Pakistan to 125. Earlier, fast bowlers Salman Mirza and debutant Daniyal grabbed two wickets apiece to restrict Bangladesh to 133. Mirza finished with 2-17 and Daniyal took 2-23 after Pakistan won the toss and sent Bangladesh into bat. Jaker hit a fiery 48-ball 55 for his third T20I fifty, smashing five sixes and a boundary before holing out off the final delivery of the 20th over. Fast bowler Afridi also grabbed 2-37. Bangladesh had lost four wickets by sixth over for 28 before Jaker and Mahedi revived the innings with a 53-run stand for the fifth wicket. Mahedi scored a 25-ball 33 with two sixes and as many boundaries. After the series defeat, Pakistan captain Salman Agha said his young team will learn from their mistakes. "The way we started bowling in the power play, we could have given like 10 fewer runs, but that's the way cricket goes," Agha said. "But 130 was what we thought we had under control. But the way we batted in the power play, I think that needs to be improved. "We don't want to give up no matter what situation we are in. We always think we can win the game. The way we played after, like, 15-5, I think, is outstanding. This is the kind of belief I want from my team." It was Bangladesh's first-ever series in the format against Pakistan. The tourists were dismissed for 110 in the first match, which the hosts won by seven wickets.
