KUCHING (July 10): The Magistrates' Court here today fined a woman RM1,000 in default two weeks' jail for engaging in an affray with three other women during a wedding reception in May.
Felicia Vkline Jari, 32, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan after she was charged under Section 160 of the Penal Code.
Previously on a different date, her former schoolmates Addlina Asnan, Marie Paye Steve, and Jacquline Murudan were also fined RM1,000 in default two weeks in jail in the same court.
Felicia committed the offence outside a restaurant where the wedding reception was held located at Jalan Penrissen at around 10pm on May 17, 2025.
Based on the facts of the case, the incident occurred after Felicia and Addlina confronted Marie (complainant) and Jacquline, leading to a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation.
Marie was reportedly punched and kicked, had her hair pulled, and was struck with a tree branch and a sandal, particularly on the head and arm.
Felicia was identified as one of the individuals who kicked Jacquline in the stomach during the scuffle.
The fight reportedly stemmed from allegations that Marie had spoken ill of the other women prior to the incident.
A police report was lodged and investigations revealed that the four women had engaged in an affray in a public place, an incident that was witnessed by members of the public.
Insp Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin appeared for the prosecution while Felicia did not have legal representation.

Four teens freed on bail in Kajang assault case

KUALA LUMPUR: Four 13-year-old students detained over the alleged assault of a classmate at a shopping mall in Kajang have been released on police bail today. Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the remand for the suspects, which was initially extended until tomorrow, was concluded earlier following the completion of documentation and investigative procedures. 'To date, police have recorded statements from nine individuals, including the four students,' he said in a statement. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by dissatisfaction among the suspects with the victim's manner of communication and interaction. On July 30, the Form One student lodged a police report alleging classmates beat him at about 11 am at the mall. He later received medical treatment and was confirmed to have sustained minor facial injuries. The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation, as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. - Bernama
