YSRCP leaders launch offensive against NDA govt. in A.P.

The Hindu2 days ago
The YSRCP convened a crucial meeting in Vijayawada on Tuesday (June 1), intensifying their attack on the ruling coalition government and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Addressing the gathering, Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, coordinator for Krishna, NTR, and Guntur districts, said all promises made during the YSRCP's previous term were fulfilled. He accused Naidu of duping voters with fake guarantees during the 2024 elections. He announced a statewide campaign from July 4 to 11 titled 'Chandrababu Suritee – Mosam Guarantee', aimed at 'exposing' the TDP chief's betrayals in every village and town.
Devineneni Avinash, NTR district YSRCP president, said the coalition's deception continued for over a year. He criticised the TDP for not fulfilling even a single electoral promise and said Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has become the face of falsehoods. Avinash vowed that YSRCP leaders and cadre will stand by the people.
Modugula Venu Gopal Reddy, observer for NTR parliamentary constituency, said people were openly calling Mr. Chandrababu Naidu a symbol of betrayal, while expressing a strong desire to see YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy back in power. 'Anyone wanting to meet Mr. Jagan must first go through waves of dedicated workers,' he added, highlighting the leader's enduring popularity.
Former MLA Malladi Vishnu emphasised the need to expose Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's past governance failures, branding the coalition manifesto as a bundle of lies. He pointed out that none of the promises have been implemented so far. 'They increased electricity charges and imposed burdens worth thousands of crores,' he said.
Former Minister Vellampalli Srinivas noted that one year has passed since the alliance took power, but Mr. Chandrababu Naidu has done nothing meaningful. He highlighted the massive public support Jagan still commands. 'Even now, if Mr. Jagan calls, lakhs gather. We must take Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's betrayals directly to the people,' he told the cadre.
YSRCP leaders Jogi Ramesh, Kaile Ramesh and others spoke.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan lays stone for ₹1,290-crore Jal Jeevan Mission works in Prakasam district

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan laid foundation stone for the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works at Markapuram in Prakasam district on Friday. Endowments Minister and district in-charge Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, and Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy were among others present. Before addressing a public meeting on the occasion, Mr. Pawan Kalyan paid tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitharama Raju on his birth anniversary. Later, addressing the people, Mr. Pawan Kalyan recalled the courage with which Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, first Chief Minister of the erstwhile Andhra State, had fought during the freedom struggle. Stating that his (Mr. Pawan Kalyan) family resided at Kanigiri 40 years ago but had to leave the place in six months due to severe water problem and fluoride issue, the Deputy Chief Minister said it was the reason behind his decision to accord priority to Prakasam district while sanctioning the JJM works in the State. 'Biggest scheme' 'This is the first biggest drinking water supply scheme since Independence in the district with funds of ₹1,290 crore being spent in the first phase. Once completed, the scheme will supply drinking water to over 10 lakh population spread over 578 villages of 18 mandals in seven Assembly constituencies – Markapuram, Yerragondapalem, Giddaluru, Kondapi, Kanigiri, Kandukuru and Darsi – for the next 30 years,' he said. Under the scheme, one water treatment plant, 19 sumps, 31 overhead balancing reservoirs, 334 overhead tanks, and pipelines of more than 5,000-km length would be laid to supply drinking water through the Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, adding that it would be completed in 18-20 months if funds were released as planned. Dig at YSRCP He lambasted the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government for not completing the Veligonda project during its term. The YSRCP leaders did not launch a single water project during their five-year term, but inaugurated an incomplete project ahead of elections, he said. If they were really committed, they would have taken steps to complete the projects in the first year of their term, he observed. The YSRCP government had availed of huge loans but couldn't complete any project, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said. 'The Veligonda project needs ₹4,000 crore, and a major chunk of the funds are necessary for land acquisition alone,' he said. The Centre had given ₹26,000 crore to the JJM works across the State, but the YSRCP government spent only ₹4,000 crore for laying pipes, he added. The Central government thought of stopping the release of JJM funds as the State was unable to spend the matching grant, he said. 'I personally met Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil to seek ₹87,000 crore required for the JJM works across the State. Because of the alliance, the Central government supported the State by continuing the JJM funds,' he added.

YSRCP demands PR certificates for Foreign Medical Graduates in Andhra Pradesh

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded the immediate issuance of Permanent Registration (PR) certificates to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in Andhra Pradesh and called for the withdrawal of police cases filed against the protesting students. A YSRCP delegation, including former minister and YSRCP Medical Wing president Seediri Appalaraju, former MLAs Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy and Monditoka Jagan Mohan Rao, and other party leaders, submitted a memorandum to the medical college officials, urging swift redressal of FMG grievances, here on Friday. Later, addressing the media, Dr. Appalaraju said the delegation visited the students on the instructions of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to express solidarity and press for justice. He criticised the government's 'unjust and harsh treatment' of students who had completed a 54-month foreign medical course, cleared mandatory exams, completed internships abroad and in India, and fulfilled all eligibility criteria. 'Despite meeting all the requirements, the government continues to deny PR on flimsy grounds, unlike in States like Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu,' Dr. Appalaraju said. He rejected the State's justification regarding online classes during COVID, noting that compensatory and in-person internships had already been completed. The YSRCP leaders condemned the use of police force on peacefully protesting students and demanded that all related cases be dropped. They contrasted Mr. Jagan's efforts to strengthen public healthcare by establishing 17 new medical colleges with former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's alleged neglect, citing Mr. Naidu's refusal to accept 2,550 medical seats sanctioned by the Centre. They alleged that Mr. Naidu's policies had pushed thousands of students to study abroad and that the current coalition government is now denying them a fair chance to practise in India. The YSRCP urged the State government to stop penalising qualified students and act immediately to safeguard their futures.
