Kelsey Plum takes exception to Caitlin Clark's sideline antics

Even when she's hurt, Caitlin Clark's fire for the game is on display.
That happened Thursday night as the Fever hosted the Sparks, without the injured Clark in the lineup, in a hilarious moment toward the end of the first half of an 85-75 Los Angeles win.
Clark was animatedly expressing her displeasure with the referees when she caught the attention of the Kelsey Plum as she walked across the court.
The Sparks star stopped and started pointing and shouting in Clark's direction, apparently calling for a ref to give the Fever superstar a technical foul.
Plum's plea to the official seemed to fall on deaf ears and didn't faze Clark, who seemingly continued to talk in the official's direction.

Sparks coach Lynne Roberts even got a chuckle out of the interaction, with the broadcast camera catching the head coach laughing while the interaction was taking place.
Plum and the Sparks got the last laugh in the end, coming away with a win over the Fever for their fifth victory of the season.
The loss was the Fever's third in their last four games.

Clark missed her sixth game of the season after she was ruled out earlier in the day with a left groin injury.
Fever coach Stephanie White told reporters on Thursday that Clark had informed the team of the pain when they returned from their West Coast road trip the following day.
'I think it's very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment,' White said, according to the Indy Star. ' I stay in my lane and let our strength and conditioning and our AT staff do what they do best. But yeah, I found out late last night and and then we'll treat it day-to-day.'
The Fever are back in action on Friday when they face Paige Bueckers and the Wings in Dallas.

DeWanna Bonner has ‘no interest' in playing for Fever

The post DeWanna Bonner has 'no interest' in playing for Fever appeared first on ClutchPoints. After initially being one of the biggest acquisitions the Indiana Fever made in the offseason, reports indicate that guard DeWanna Bonner no longer wants to play for the team. Two teams have emerged as preferable trade destinations for the two-time WNBA champion. Advertisement The two teams in question are the Phoenix Mercury and the Atlanta Dream, according to Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports. DeWanna Bonner's agent had no comments about the 37-year-old guard's relationship with the Fever. 'DeWanna Bonner's days with the Indiana Fever could be coming to an end. According to multiple league sources, the two-time WNBA champion has no interest in returning to play for the Fever. Those same sources indicated Bonner's preferred landing spots are with the Phoenix Mercury or the Atlanta Dream. Bonner's agent, Mike Cound, had no comment regarding his client's standing with the Fever.' The potential trade request stems from the Fever benching DeWanna Bonner to play Lexi Hull in the starting lineup. Indiana eventually ruled Bonner out for 'personal reasons' after playing her in a rotational role for six games. Costabile also reports that the relationship between Bonner and the Fever just wasn't on par from early on. 'Bonner started three games for the Fever to open the season before she was benched in favor of shooting guard Lexie Hull. After six games coming off the bench, Bonner was ruled out by the Fever due to 'personal reasons'… Multiple sources told Front Office Sports that the fit in Indiana was 'off' from the beginning. Bonner—who was signed to be an anchor with championship experience for the team's young core—was expected to be a starter.' Advertisement DeWanna Bonner played in nine games for the Fever this season. In those contests, she averaged 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while owning a 34.5% field goal percentage and going 36.0% from beyond the arc. Why Mercury should explore DeWanna Bonner homecoming after Fever breakup

The post Why Mercury should explore DeWanna Bonner homecoming after Fever breakup appeared first on ClutchPoints. Is a homecoming on the rise for current disgruntled Indiana Fever forward DeWanna Bonner? It's certainly a possibility, and according to Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports, the Atlanta Dream and the Phoenix Mercury are her preferred teams. Advertisement Why would this be, though? After Bonner signed with the Fever in the offseason, she was set to be a pivotal part of the team's championship aspirations. She has the credentials, experience, and mental toughness. Fast forward to late June, and the All-Star forward wants no part of Indiana. On Tuesday, it was official that Bonner doesn't plan to return to the Fever. Circling back to the Mercury, though, is it a possibility for a homecoming? If that's the case, there are a multitude of factors involved in a return. Bonner can return to where it all started with the Mercury © Matt Krohn-Imagn Images In the 2009 WNBA Draft, Phoenix selected the former Auburn basketball standout with the fifth overall pick. Her rookie season was one to remember, and one that laid the foundation for her career. Advertisement During that rookie season, the Mercury captured their second WNBA championship in franchise history. While Diana Taurasi spearheaded the success, Bonner, off the bench, was a major beneficiary. So much so that she won three consecutive Sixth Player of the Year awards (2009-11), her ability as a stretch-big wasn't seen at the WNBA level, and it was one that caught many by surprise. As her career progressed, she became a full-time starter and made an even more incredible impact. In the 2015 season, she was awarded her first All-WNBA selection. However, four years later, she ended up with the Connecticut Sun, alongside her current fiancée, Alyssa Thomas. That could be a lingering storyline for some to eat up like a Thanksgiving feast. However, as Thomas said in her introductory press conference, she and Bonner are both their own players. They can make their own decisions, regardless of any speculation that they want to be together during the regular season. The Mercury might not want DeWanna Bonner This saying has been repeated multiple times, and it holds true: 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Advertisement That sentiment is the current state of the Mercury. Their 11-4 record, and the trio of Kahleah Copper, Satou Sabally, and Thomas, have been exceptional. Despite the trio's achievements, they haven't played many games together. Rather, it's the culture, defense, and the rookies – who aren't really rookies – stepping up to the plate. Players like Monique Akoa Makani, Kathryn Westbeld, Lexi Held, and Kitija Laksa have all played overseas and have excelled. That excellence has translated to the WNBA rather seamlessly. Westbeld and Makani are two of the starters. Adding Bonner to the mix could push Westbeld to the bench, as both play center. Advertisement Another option could be sending the Cameroonian guard to the bench, and having Copper run the point, while including Westbeld and Bonner in the same starting unit. This might be a risk the front office is not willing to make. Even though she's had a storied career, harming what is brewing could turn the potion of success into one of disaster. Either way, time isn't on Phoenix's side. As Costabile's article said, Bonner is also interested in the Dream. The writing was on the wall for Bonner to leave the Fever. Now, it's about finding the right fit, and that might be back in the Valley of the Sun.
