The former political aide to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is also demanding a full public apology from the news portal responsible for the publication.
Earlier, an article published by MalaysiaNow claimed that a company owned by Farhash had secured a mineral exploration licence in Sabah from Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM) for an area three times the size of Kuala Lumpur.
In a cease and desist letter by his lawyers to MalaysiaNow, Farhash described the article, which claimed he owned Bumi Suria Sdn Bhd and that the company had secured a licence from a Sabah government agency, as "false and defamatory".
His lawyers clarified that Farhash is merely a director and shareholder of Bumi Suria, and not its owner.
"Our client categorically denies the truth of these assertions. Neither our client nor Bumi Suria has ever been awarded any mineral prospecting or exploration licence in Sabah.
"These false and misleading statements have seriously damaged our client's reputation, exposed him to unnecessary public scrutiny, and wrongly implied involvement in improper or politically influenced business dealings," the letter said.
The firm further said that the publication had failed to verify its claims with either Farhash or the relevant authorities before publishing the article, which it said breached fundamental journalistic standards.
As such, the legal team has demanded that MalaysiaNow:
1. Cease and desist from further publication or dissemination of the article.
2. Remove the article from all platforms, including its website and social media channels.
3. Issue a full and unequivocal public retraction and apology to be prominently published within 48 hours.
4. Provide written confirmation of compliance within the same timeframe.
The letter said that failure to comply would result in legal proceedings being initiated against the portal and any individuals responsible.
It was reported earlier that Farhash had also lodged a police report over the matter at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
He urged police to investigate the article under Section 499 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation and/or Section 211 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
SMM chief executive officer Natasha Sim vehemently denied the claims, saying the government-linked company does not have the authority to issue or award such licences.
"SMM is not a licence-awarding body nor do we have jurisdiction to award or issue licences.
"No company with the name of Bumi Suria Sdn Bhd has ever been issued or awarded any prospecting licence by the state government as of today," she told the New Straits Times.
Since last year, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and other cabinet ministers had repetitively said that the state government had yet to issue any licence to anyone.
Hajiji also said that when it comes to issuing mining licences, the state government will discuss matters such as equity, royalties, fees, and leases in cabinet meetings before reaching a decision.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment for between 30 and 40 years and if not sentenced to death, can be given not less than 12 strokes,' he said. Motoring influencer, brother, jailed and fined for false police report
MUAR: A motoring influencer and his younger brother were jailed for one month and ordered to pay a RM1,500 fine each by the Magistrate's Court here for lodging a false police report about the former's disappearance. Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin, 38, widely known online as Ija, and Tengku Abdul Aziz Tengku Zainudin, 30, both pleaded guilty to making a false report and conspiring against civil servants at the Lenga police station here at about 11.38pm last Tuesday (July 15). Based on the facts of the case, the younger accused claimed that the last time he saw Tengku Nizaruddin was at 4pm on July 14 and that his car was found in Sungai Tui, Bukit Kepong about an hour prior. Tengku Aziz proceeded to report his brother's disappearance to the police while knowing that the information was untrue. A search and rescue mission was then called by the Fire and Rescue Department, police and Rela on the same day. Authorities uncovered the ruse at around 12.30am on July 19. Investigations found that both brothers left Johor Baru separately, where Tengku Nizaruddin was said to have gone to Pagoh while his brother went to another location. Upon reaching Pagoh, Tengku Nizaruddin was said to have driven the car into the river and then asked his brother to pick him up before entering Thailand via Padang Besar in Perlis. His movements were logged by the Immigration Department as well as on a flight ticket to Hat Yai Airport dated July 17 that was purchased a day before. Tengku Nizaruddin later turned himself in at the Muar police station at 1.15am on July 19. Both brothers were charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum prison sentence of six months or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutors Nur Ameerah Allaudeen and Yasmin Mohd Piah led the prosecution. National Legal Aid Foundation counsel Nor Hafizah Abdullah, who represented the brothers, told the court that Tengku Nizaruddin's actions stemmed from his financial problems and not because he wanted to get married in Thailand. When given the opportunity to say his piece, Tengku Nizaruddin apologised to the public and all those involved as a result of his actions. 'I regret my actions, and I don't want to go to jail because my wife is six months pregnant,' he said. Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar sentenced both brothers to one month in prison, and they each have to pay a fine of RM1,500 as well. If they failed to pay the fine, Tengku Nizaruddin was ordered to serve three months' imprisonment, while Tengku Aziz was given six months in jail. Both paid the fine.

Motoring influencer ‘Ija', brother jailed a month over faked disappearance, car dumped in river
MUAR, July 25 — An automotive influencer and his younger brother were each sentenced to a month's jail and fined RM1,500 by the Magistrate's Court here today for filing a false police report last week about the former's disappearance. Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar handed down the sentence after both accused, Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin, 38, and his brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, pleaded guilty to their charges. According to the charge, Tengku Nizaruddin, popularly known on Facebook as 'Ija,' was accused of abetting his brother by instructing him to provide false information to a police officer regarding his disappearance. Tengku Abdul Aziz was accused of lodging the false report at the Lenga police station's enquiry office at 11.38 pm on July 15. The pair were charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information to a public servant, read together with Section 109 for abetment. The offence carries a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both. How the hoax unfolded The case began after Tengku Abdul Aziz filed a report on his brother's disappearance on July 14. The following day, the Perodua Axia driven by Tengku Nizaruddin was found abandoned in Sungai Tui, Bukit Kepong. This discovery prompted a large-scale search and rescue operation involving the Fire and Rescue Department, police, and the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela). However, Tengku Nizaruddin surrendered at the Lenga police station on July 19 and admitted to faking his disappearance. Police investigations revealed that after dumping his car into the river, Tengku Nizaruddin contacted his brother, who picked him up. The two then travelled to Taman Sri Mawar in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan. From there, Tengku Nizaruddin took an express bus to Thailand via Padang Besar, Perlis. His entry was flagged by the Immigration Department's system, and investigators also found a flight ticket to Hat Yai, Thailand, dated July 17, which had been booked the day before. CCTV footage also placed him at the Seremban Bus Terminal at 9.25 pm on July 14. During mitigation, the brothers' counsel from the National Legal Aid Foundation, Nor Hafizah Abdullah, said her client was prompted to act due to financial problems and not, as some had speculated, to take another wife in Thailand. Tengku Nizaruddin also publicly apologised to all parties and expressed regret for his actions. The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutors Nur Ameerah Allaudeen and Yasmin Mohd Piah.
