Rutherglen: Walters Bar shares opening date and launch party
Taking over the former Gorman's Bar at 33 Queen Street, Walter's will officially open its doors on Tuesday, July 1.
But punters are being told to mark their calendars for the real party just days later.

Owners are pulling out all the stops for their Pre-Season Party on Sunday, July 6, promising customers that the party will be "one to remember."
The event will feature live coverage of Rangers' pre-season match against Club Brugge at 2pm, followed by live music from Lorri, The Loyal Blues Singer, at 4pm.
The team at Walter's announced the news with a social media post: 'We officially open on Tuesday, July 1… but the BIG one is Sunday, July 6!
"Rangers vs Club Brugge live from 2pm, then from 4pm, Lorri, The Loyal Blues Singer, will bring the tunes and the atmosphere.
"This is more than just a new pub — it's a home for the loyal.
"Come celebrate the start of something special at Walter's.
"Free entry — but get down early!'

The Glasgow Times reported at the start of the month that the new venue promises to be more than just a traditional pub—it aims to become a hub for Rangers supporters and a celebration of the club's history.

Smith took charge of Rangers in 1991, succeeding Graeme Souness, and led the club to unprecedented success, winning 13 major trophies in seven years, including seven consecutive league titles.
After a spell managing the Scotland national team, where he notably lifted them 70 places in the FIFA World Rankings, Smith returned to Rangers in 2007 and added eight more trophies to his collection.
He guided the team to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final before retiring in 2011.
Walter Smith remains the second-most successful manager in Rangers' history, behind only Bill Struth, and is deeply revered by fans across generations.

It's one I expect Vardy would be open to as well, because it's less intense than the Premier League which maybe at this stage of his career he isn't best suited to. 'He's performed to a very good level for a number of years and now he's maybe going over the top, so a move to Rangers would be a good opportunity. Rangers in ‘concrete talks' to sign winger from Serie A club as they battle English and European sides to land him
RANGERS are preparing to lead Celtic a merry dance next season. Ballet impressed for the Swiss Super League outfit, scoring three goals and creating two more in 28 appearances. Zurich hope to extend the Bern native's loan by another season. However Como - managed by ex-Arsenal ace Cesc Fabregas - want instead to cash in on him. And a result, Zurich are seriously at risk of losing out on him with another loan to the club labelled a 'distant' prospect. A report from Blick Sports claims that Rangers officials have been holding talks with their Italian opposite numbers about a deal for Ballet. It says that 'concrete talks' are underway with the Ibrox club and other interested parties. English Championship club Norwich and Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor are also said to be keen on the former Switzerland Under-20 international. Ballet played for Swiss clubs Young Boys, FC Wil and Winterthur before moving to Como in January 2024. But just six months later, he moved on loan to Zurich after making just three appearances in Serie B during Como's promotion success. Sir Sean Connery's secret £1 MILLION investment in Rangers revealed Ballet is expected to report for pre-season training with the Italian club on July 10 as it stands, providing of course he hasn't sealed a transfer. He's still under contract at Como until 2027 but they've been busy adding players to the wide positions this summer, with Celtic's Nicolas Kuhn among those linked. Rangers remain in the hunt for reinforcements on the wings this summer. With Vaclav Cerny having returned to Wolfsburg, it's a position of great need for new Gers boss Russell Martin. Kwame Poku was a target for the Light Blues but he instead joined QPR last week. Midfielder Metinho, who spent last season in Switzerland with Basel, is also a target for Rangers.
