N.B. RCMP releases new photo of man who allegedly fled after driving ATV into police vehicle

Police in New Brunswick have released a new photo of a man who allegedly fled the scene after he drove his ATV into a police vehicle last week. The RCMP says officers were on patrol in Benton, N.B., last Friday when they came across a man driving an ATV without a helmet on. Police say the man, 30-year-old Edward (Eddie) Hayes, is known to them and is currently on several conditions, including being prohibited from driving and being bound by an ankle monitor, which they say he had cut off. The officers tried to stop the man, who then allegedly ran his ATV into a police vehicle before fleeing the scene. A short time later, police spotted the man driving his ATV through the parking lot of the RCMP detachment in Woodstock, and then across the front lawn of the Woodstock provincial courthouse, causing damage to both properties. Police are still trying to track down Hayes, who was last seen driving a camouflage ATV in the Woodstock area. He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts at the time. Investigators released a new photo of Hayes on Thursday in hopes someone will recognize him. Police say Hayes should not be approached if spotted and anyone who sees him should call 911. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Western Valley Region RCMP at 506-325-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
