Charlotte to host MLS All-Star game in 2026 for first time, AP source says
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made official. MLS commissioner Don Garber is expected to confirm the venue on Wednesday at a news conference in Charlotte.
Charlotte FC, owned by Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper, was named the league's 28th franchise in 2019 and began play in the league in 2022. The game will be played at Bank of America Stadium, which is also home to the Panthers.
This year's All-Star game is set for Austin, Texas, between the MLS All-Stars and the Liga MX All-Stars.
The opponents for the 2026 All-Star game will be announced at a later date.

Will an injured Caitlin Clark play in the WNBA All-Star Game? Here's what we know.
Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark missed her 10th regular-season game of the 2025 season on Wednesday night with a new groin injury sustained on Tuesday night, putting her status for the weekend's WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis in jeopardy. Clark is slated to both play in the All-Star Game as a captain and compete in the 3-Point Contest, and Fever coach Stephanie White shared that it will ultimately be up to Clark as to whether or not she participates. "Caitlin and her team will make decisions when it comes to All-Star," White told reporters on Wednesday evening. While we're sure the Fever will give their input for what they will prefer for Clark's long-term health, it looks like whether or not Clark joins in on the festivities this weekend through her injury will be up to her. We'll see what Clark and her team decides, as we could see her taking either route. She could err on the side of caution, or she could feel well enough by the weekend to join in on the fun.
