New Chandu Budhera unit launched by Haryana CM, water supply gets big boost in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: At 670 MLD now, the city's water infrastructure has received a much-needed push. On Wednesday, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated a 100 MLD treatment unit at the Chandu Budhera plant. With the commissioning of this unit, the total capacity of the Chandu Budhera plant has increased to 400 MLD. Adding to Basai's 270 MLD, the city now has a combined water treatment capacity of 670 MLD. GMDA officials said the new unit would increase per capita water availability from 100 to 155 litres a day. A senior GMDA official told TOI, "This unit will benefit areas that have depended on groundwater or tankers. We are now in a better position to offer them consistent supply from treated canal water." The new unit — the fourth at the facility — was built at a cost of Rs 63.18 crore and is expected to benefit over 4.5 lakh residents across 34 sectors, from Sector 81 to 115, and parts of the old city that have long faced irregular supply. The plant will treat raw water drawn from the NCR canal and supply it to households in areas like Laxman Vihar, Tikona Park, New Colony, Jyoti Park, Arjun Nagar, Sector 12A and Dayanand Colony, thereby reducing the dependence on borewells. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo To keep pace with demand, GMDA is also working on a fifth unit at Chandu Budhera. Around 40% of the civil work has been completed, and machinery is being procured. The authority hopes to commission the fifth unit by Dec. Two boosting stations — one in Sector 72 and another in Gwal Pahari — are also under construction. These are expected to be functional by Sept this year and March 2026, respectively, and will help regulate supply. The inauguration comes at a time when the city's population and real estate footprint are expanding rapidly, putting additional pressure on civic infrastructure. While high-rise townships in new sectors have grown rapidly, parts of the old city have seen stagnation in supply, often because of leaky pipelines and low pressure, with hardly any upgrade of boosting stations at the colony or sector level. A study by IIT Roorkee projected that the city's population is likely to touch 46.3 lakh by 2026, requiring a daily water supply of around 970 MLD. Additionally, GMDA is planning to augment the supply with a third treatment facility proposed at Basai part-II. The Phase-1 of the project is expected to cost Rs 190 crore and is estimated to take three years to complete. GMDA officials said technical evaluation of bids for the construction contract is complete and the matter will be placed before the next meeting of the high-powered purchase committee for final approval.

Rashmika Mandanna opens up about ‘crying for her off days', gets emotional about missing her sister's childhood

Rashmika Mandanna, revealed the emotional cost of her success in a heartfelt interview. Despite rising fame, she shared the pain of missing out on her younger sister Shiman's childhood and the growing distance from home and friends. (Image: Screenshot/Instagram) Rashmika Mandanna, once known primarily for her charm in Telugu cinema, became a nationwide sensation with her Hindi debut Animal. But behind the glamour of superstardom lies an emotional reality that often goes unseen. In a heartfelt interview with Nod Magazine, Rashmika opened up about a void in her personal life that no spotlight could ever fill—the missing years with her younger sister, Shiman. 'I cry for my off days,' she confessed, her voice heavy with emotion. 'I have a sister who is 16 years younger than me; she's about 13 now. And in the last eight years, since I started working, I haven't seen her grow up.' Though Shiman is now almost her height, Rashmika has barely been present through the milestones. Her words resonate with a quiet ache—one that many professionals might relate to, but few expect from someone constantly seen smiling for the camera. Work has not only distanced Rashmika from her sister but also from the comfort of home and friendships. 'I haven't gone home in one and a half years,' she revealed in the interview. 'I don't get to see my friends. Earlier, they would at least include me in the plans. Now they don't even do that. And that's the sad reality.' Her candidness doesn't stem from bitterness but from the fatigue of always being 'on the go.' For actors like her, holidays aren't just breaks—they are emotional landmines, reminders of everything they're missing. Despite the emotional toll, Rashmika is determined not to surrender either world. She recalled her mother's words: 'If you want to excel in your professional life, you will have to sacrifice your personal life, and if you want a personal life, you will have to sacrifice your work life.' But Rashmika refuses to choose. 'I'm someone who will say I will work twice as hard, but I'll make both of them work. That's an everyday battle.' This struggle—to preserve family bonds while maintaining a relentless work pace—is one that many silently endure. But few speak of it with the vulnerability and clarity that Rashmika does. What makes the Mandanna family story more compelling is how consciously they've protected Shiman from stardom. Rashmika shared that her parents always ensured her sister had a normal life. 'They told her that it's my life, and she shouldn't be involved in it,' she explained. The intention was never to isolate, but to shield. In a conversation with Neha Dhupia, Rashmika even left the host stunned by revealing the vast age gap between her and her sister. Yet, her belief remains steady: 'She should have a normal upbringing. That's what will help her become a better person.' Even amidst the emotional toll of missing out on family moments, Rashmika Mandanna's professional journey shows no signs of slowing down. She is set to star alongside Vijay Deverakonda in Kingdom, a Telugu-language spy action drama releasing on July 31, 2025. The film marks the beginning of a two-part franchise. In Bollywood, she will appear with Ayushmann Khurrana in Thama, a horror-comedy touted as her biggest Hindi project yet, expected to hit theatres in October 2025. Rashmika will also reprise her beloved role of Srivalli in Pushpa 3 – The Rampage, which is scheduled for a 2027 release. Among her upcoming projects is The Girlfriend, a female-centric romantic drama directed by Rahul Ravindran, now in post-production. She also plays a leading role in Mysaa, a pan-Indian warrior film whose first look was unveiled in June 2025. Additionally, Bollywood Hungama reported recently that Rashmika is in talks to play the primary antagonist in director Atlee's upcoming action drama opposite Allu Arjun, although further details remain under wraps.
