Shah Rukh Khan injured on King set during action scene. Mamata Banerjee tweets concern, calling SRK her brother and wishing him a speedy recovery.
Shah Rukh Khan, who is currently filming his upcoming action thriller King, recently suffered a back injury during an intense stunt sequence. The news has sparked widespread concern across the country, with fans and public figures sending in their wishes for a speedy recovery. Among them is West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who referred to the actor as her 'brother" in an emotional social media post.
Taking to her official X (formerly Twitter) handle on July 19, Mamata Banerjee wrote, 'Reports regarding my brother Shah Rukh Khan sustaining muscular injuries during shooting make me worried. Wish him speedy recovery." Her heartfelt tweet has since gone viral, with fans applauding the Chief Minister's warmth and concern for the beloved star.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the incident occurred at Golden Tobacco studio in Mumbai, where SRK was filming an action-heavy sequence for King, a high-octane film directed by Siddharth Anand and co-starring his daughter, Suhana Khan. The superstar sustained a muscular strain, likely caused by years of physically demanding stunts.
Following the injury, Shah Rukh initially travelled to the United States for medical attention and has now shifted to the United Kingdom, where he is recuperating with his family. He has also postponed a planned visit to Sri Lanka to focus on rest and recovery.
'It's not a serious injury, but more of a muscular strain," a source close to the production revealed. 'Given his past injuries from action films, the team opted for precautionary care abroad."
As a result, the shoot schedules for July and August at Film City, Golden Tobacco, and YRF Studios have been cancelled. The next leg of filming is expected to begin around September or October.
While the production house is yet to issue an official statement, industry insiders suggest that King will feature an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal, and Abhay Verma. The film is being positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in Shah Rukh's career and marks a significant milestone as Suhana Khan makes her big-screen debut opposite her father.
