PFL MENA returns to Saudi Arabia in partnership with Jeddah Season
The second edition of PFL MENA will take place on May 9 at Jeddah's Onyx Arena.
Following a successful inaugural season in 2024, the second edition of PFL MENA aims to further expand mixed martial arts (MMA) in the Middle East by highlighting local talent and providing regional fighters a clear pathway to international recognition and success, the PFL said in a statement shared with Al Arabiya English.
The PFL MENA partnership with Jeddah Season will help elevate the MMA sport in the Middle East by integrating world-class fights into one of Saudi Arabia's biggest cultural and entertainment festivals, the statement added.
Speaking to Al Arabiya English, PFL MENA's General Manager Jerome Mazet said: 'Jeddah Season's trust in PFL is a testament to the incredible success of PFL MENA Season 1 and the growing impact of our league in the region,' General Manager Jerome Mazet told Al Arabiya English.
'The region is a growing powerhouse for combat sports, and with the support of our partners, we are committed to delivering another world-class event, showcasing the best local talents in MENA, and further solidifying the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia as a global hub for MMA,' he added.
This collaboration aims to bring the excitement of MMA to a broader audience while providing a platform for regional fighters to showcase their skills, according to the league.
A city rich in MMA history, Jeddah hosted its first major MMA event in 2014, and PFL MENA aims to reignite the city's MMA scene this year, the statement continued.
PFL MENA will also continue to celebrate local Middle Eastern talent, as the season will honor fighters who call Jeddah home.
This includes Malik Basahel, who will make his professional debut, and Ahmed Makki, who will be competing in his final professional bout.
The opening event in Jeddah features the return of PFL world champions to the league.
Also, for the first time ever, four Saudi Arabian fighters will be on the card, making history for the region.
'Jeddah is home to a number of amazing fighters and has a strong fanbase, so we're excited and grateful to bring the sport of MMA back to this incredible city,' Mazet said.

The fight went the full five rounds, with Storley once again proving his toughness and resilience under fire from Jean. Despite Storley's relentless wrestling pressure and takedown attempts, it was Jean's striking that stole the show, displaying pinpoint accuracy, fluid combinations and devastating power that kept his opponent on the defensive throughout. Jean's performance not only earned him the belt but also solidified his status as one of the most dangerous welterweights in the world. The co-main event saw Russia's Movlid Khaybulaev (24-0-1) take on Peru's Jesus Pinedo (25-7-1) in a clash between two former PFL champions, each seeking to claim the 2025 PFL featherweight title. Khaybulaev's world-class grappling proved to be the deciding factor, neutralizing Pinedo's explosive power and keeping the Peruvian on his back for much of the bout. Still, the first-ever Peruvian MMA champion made the most of the striking exchanges, even scoring a knockdown. Adjoudj rallied in the final moments with a dangerous submission attempt as the clock wound down, ultimately doing enough to earn a unanimous decision from the judges.
