Minta day ago
Aamir Khan's much-anticipated sequel 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has wrapped up its second week at the box office with a steady yet slowing performance. On Day 14 (Thursday), the film collected ₹ 2.5 crore across India, bringing its total net collection in the domestic market to ₹ 135.4 crore.
The day 14 collection marks a 9.09% drop from the previous day, signalling the expected weekday slump following a decent second weekend. The week two total stands at ₹ 46.5 crore, which is a 47.69% drop from the opening week—indicating a clear slowdown in momentum as the film enters its third weekend.
Despite the dip, the film's overall performance remains strong. The 14-day India gross stands at ₹ 161.90 crore, while the worldwide total has reached an impressive ₹ 214.50 crore. Of this, overseas earnings contribute ₹ 52.60 crore, a sign that Aamir Khan's global appeal remains intact.
Occupancy figures reflect the gradual decline in footfall. On Day 14, Hindi (2D) occupancy averaged just over 10% throughout the day, with morning shows seeing 7.66% attendance, gradually rising to 11.97% by night.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is a spiritual sequel to the 2007 cult classic 'Taare Zameen Par'. The film stars Aamir Khan as a basketball coach assigned to train a group of neurodivergent children after being involved in a driving-related incident. Genelia D'Souza co-stars, and the film notably features ten neurodivergent debutant actors.
On Wednesday, the cast and crew held a special screening in Mumbai for specially-abled students, attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Amruta Fadnavis.
As the film enters its third week, it faces competition from 'Metro…In Dino', a multi-starrer directed by Anurag Basu. With big names like Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Sara Ali Khan, the new release could impact Sitaare Zameen Par's box office run.
Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the film continues to hold its ground with its emotional narrative and inclusive casting.

Filmistan Studios sold for Rs 183 crore, AICWA urges Devendra Fadnavis to stop redevelopment into luxury towers: 'Save the livelihoods of lakhs of workers'

Filmistan Studios, one of Mumbai's oldest and most iconic film studios, has been officially sold to Arkade Developers for Rs 183 crore. The transaction was registered on July 3, marking the end of an era for a studio that helped shape the golden age of Hindi cinema. Once a thriving base for actors, technicians, and production houses, the Goregaon West property is now set to be redeveloped into ultra-luxury residential towers. Founded in 1943 by Sasadhar Mukherjee, grandfather to Kajol and Rani Mukerji , along with actor Ashok Kumar, Gyan Mukherjee, and Rai Bahadur Chunilal, Filmistan Studios emerged from a split with Bombay Talkies and quickly became a cornerstone of Hindi filmmaking. Back in the day, studios like Filmistan weren't just shooting spaces, they were full-fledged production houses employing actors and crew on monthly salaries. AICWA urges Devendra Fadnavis to intervene In the wake of the acquisition, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written an open letter to Maharashtra's CM Devendra Fadnavis, urging him to halt the demolition and protect what they call a 'symbol of cinematic legacy.' The association has called for a Government Resolution (G.R.) to preserve the studio as a public cultural asset. 'Filmistan Studio... by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dommershausen: Gutes Hören sucht 700 Testhörer für Hörgeräte ohne Zuzahlung Gutes Hören Undo has been a workplace for lakhs of technicians, artists, junior artists, and workers… It is not just a physical structure; it is a symbol of cinematic legacy and the sweat and hard work of the working class behind the camera,' the AICWA letter read. Dharmesh Yelande Spotted At Filmistan Studio The association further warned that the loss of Filmistan, and other heritage studios at risk, would severely impact employment opportunities for daily wage workers, technicians, and artists who form the backbone of the entertainment industry. 'This is not just a fight to save land—it is a fight to protect dignity, heritage, and the livelihood of the backbone of our industry. Filmistan Studio was built with the blood, sweat, and dedication of workers... Unfortunately, the current owners have chosen profit over people.' Filmistan Studios to be turned into luxury towers Following the acquisition, Arkade Developers announced plans to redevelop the four-acre SV Road plot into a high-end residential project. The project will reportedly feature 3, 4, and 5 BHK residences and exclusive penthouses across two 50-storey towers. With a projected gross development value of Rs 3,000 crore, the project is slated for a tentative launch in 2026. Known for its sound stages, outdoor sets, and central location, Filmistan was once a go-to destination for Bollywood films, television shows, and ad shoots. However, with newer, tech-equipped studios sprouting across the city, Filmistan gradually fell out of favour.

Aamir Khan's family drama 'Sitaare Zameen Par' recorded a strong jump on its 16th day at the box office, earning ₹ 5 crore on the third Saturday. With this, the film's total domestic collection has reached ₹ 142.80 crore. After a dip in earnings on Day 15 (Friday), which brought in ₹ 2.4 crore, the Saturday collections have offered a fresh boost to the film's performance. The jump reflects renewed audience interest as the weekend progresses. In its second week, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' collected ₹ 46.5 crore, with ₹ 46.24 crore from the Hindi version, ₹ 0.17 crore from Tamil, and ₹ 0.09 crore from Telugu. On Day 16, the Hindi (2D) version saw a rise in cinema occupancy: The increase in evening show attendance suggests that the film continues to attract families and younger audiences. Analysts note that strong word-of-mouth, Aamir Khan's presence, and the film's emotional storyline have helped sustain interest beyond the initial release period. With Sunday still to come, trade experts expect the film to post even stronger numbers by the end of the weekend. If momentum continues, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' may cross the ₹ 150 crore mark soon. This performance reinforces Aamir Khan's pull at the box office and reflects the audience's ongoing appetite for heartfelt, message-driven cinema.
