ASSAR announces final dividend of 3.0 sen per unit
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the second distribution after the interim distribution in January would involve a payment of RM14.52 million to 57,870 investors, calculated based on the remaining unit holdings as of June 30, 2025.
'ASSAR's total dividend for the financial year ending June 30, 2025 is 6.0 sen per unit, comprising an interim dividend of 3.0 sen per unit plus a final dividend of 3.0 sen per unit, with a total distribution of RM28.76 million,' he said when announcing the dividend distribution here.
Abang Johari said that to ensure ASSAR remains relevant and close to the hearts of the community, ASSAR needs to take the initiative to reach out to investors, especially those in the rural areas.
He said the launch of ASSAR's mobile office today was also important in its efforts to reach out to investors.
'With the launch of this mobile office, I am confident that more people will have easy access to investment information and services related to ASSAR funds without having to come to the ASSAR office in Kuching.
'I hope initiatives like this will continue and expand. We want to see more innovations in the way services are delivered in this state, especially in rural areas - so that it is more inclusive, people-friendly and efficient,' he said.
ASSAR was launched on Aug 25, 1993 to provide opportunities for the bumiputera in Sarawak to participate in the country's economic development through a collective investment scheme in the capital market.

Amanah Saham Sarawak declares final dividend of 3 sen
Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg after announcing Amanah Saham Sarawak's final dividend for the 2025 financial year. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Amanah Saham Sarawak's (Assar) total dividend distribution for the 2025 financial year amounted to RM28.76 million, after declaring a final dividend of three sen per unit for the financial year ended June 30. Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg said today the final dividend would see a payout of RM14.52 million, which will benefit some 57,870 investors, The Borneo Post reported. The final dividend of three sen per unit follows an interim dividend of the same amount distributed in January. Abang Johari said the cumulative total dividend distribution post-restructuring has reached RM42.33 million, describing it as 'proof of prudent and forward-looking investment management'. He said the fund remains stable and resilient despite the heightened global market volatility, spurred by trade tensions following US president Donald Trump's announcement of reciprocal tariffs, as well as the conflict in the Middle East. 'While the net asset value also experienced fluctuations in line with the market, volatility was well managed thanks to prudent and disciplined asset allocation strategies,' he was quoted as saying. Amanah Saham Sarawak CEO Norlia Madon said Assar recorded a gross income of RM38.39 million for FY2025. The total comprised RM16.35 million from interest on fixed-income securities, RM13.96 million in capital gains from equity disposals, RM5.15 million in equity dividends, and RM2.93 million from money market instruments and capital gains on fixed-income securities. She said that after deducting RM5.70 million in expenses, the net income stood at RM32.69 million.

Petros looking to develop CCUS hubs in Sarawak
Petros plays a key role in transforming Sarawak into a low-carbon economic hub, said the company's senior vice-president of Sarawak resource management, Abang Arabi Abang Narudin. (Petros pic) PETALING JAYA : Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) is working on developing two carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) hubs in the Bornean state. Petros senior vice-president of Sarawak resource management, Abang Arabi Abang Narudin, said the two hubs would be part of efforts to prepare infrastructure to allow for low-cost CCUS. 'Sarawak is focused on developing infrastructure. The purpose of these hubs is to provide shared infrastructure so we can achieve economies of scale. 'That way, CCUS will become more affordable,' he said, according to state-owned broadcaster TVS. Abang Arabi said while CCUS technology had long existed, resources needed to be used and optimised to reduce costs and make it more affordable. 'Clarity in terms of policies and regulations is also very important because investors investing in CCUS need some certainty as to how business is done here. 'This includes whether they will need a licence and permit, because CCUS investments are long-term in nature,' he said. He added that Petros played a key role in transforming Sarawak into a low-carbon economic hub. Abang Jo eyes sovereign wealth fund role for Petros Several days ago, Nikkei Asia quoted Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg as saying he envisioned Petros playing the role of a sovereign wealth fund with investments in sectors beyond oil and gas. The Gabungan Parti Sarawak chairman said he was taking a leaf out of Singapore and the city-state's funds, Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd and GIC Pte Ltd. 'If Petros (has) the strength, the muscle, why not invest in other areas?' he was quoted as saying. He also said this would be more of a business decision by the company than a state government decision. Abang Johari said portions of Petros's revenue from its ventures should naturally be channelled back to the state, since it was fully owned by the Sarawak government. The premier launched the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund last year, with the state government to set aside RM400 million to RM600 million annually for the fund. In May, it was given the go-ahead from the relevant authorities to make global investments, which Abang Johari described as crucial for diversifying the fund's portfolio.
