India launches e-visa for Kuwaitis: Embassy
'The launch of the e-visa facility for Kuwaiti nationals marks a significant step towards strengthening the bonds between our two countries by making travel to India simpler, faster, and more efficient,' Ambassador Swaika said, adding that it helps enhance people-to-people ties and boost travel between India and Kuwait.
The Indian ambassador noted that the tourist e-visa is valid for up to five years, fulfilling a long-standing request from Kuwaiti travelers, saying that business visas are available for up to one year, while medical, medical attendant, and conference visas are granted for shorter, specific durations. 'The entire process is online — [there is] no need to visit the visa application centers," the ambassador said.
"You can upload documents, pay fees, and complete the application from home. Biometrics will be done upon arrival at an Indian airport.' He added, 'Visa fees are affordable, with a five-year tourist visa costing just $80, and shorter-duration visas available from $40. Payments can be made via credit/debit card or online gateways.'
The launch comes at a time of deepening bilateral relations between India and Kuwait, with growing tourism, trade, and investment flows. 'Direct flights connect nine cities in India, and the number of Kuwaiti tourists visiting India is rising steadily,' the Ambassador noted. He stated, 'In 2024, approximately 8,000–9,000 tourist visas were issued to Kuwaiti nationals. "E-visa holders may enter India through 32 designated airports and five seaports. For those who prefer, the traditional method of obtaining a Regular/Paper Visa from the Indian Consular Application Centers (ICAC) in Kuwait will continue to be available."

Kuwait Airport Terminal 2 Project Nears Completion
KUWAIT CITY, July 14: The Ministry of Public Works has announced that the Kuwait Airport Terminal 2 (T2) project is nearing completion and will soon be handed over to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) for full operation. The ministry emphasized its commitment to fully governing its projects, highlighting that all supervisory roles within its contracts have been Kuwaitized in collaboration with the Public Authority for Manpower. Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Development and official spokesperson for the Ministry and the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, Ahmed Al-Saleh, told Al-Akhbar channel on Kuwait TV that the ministry has several ongoing and planned projects, with Terminal 2 among its flagship developments. Al-Saleh praised Minister Noura Al-Mishaan's leadership, noting her active involvement in monitoring the airport project's progress and resolving any challenges to ensure timely completion. "Overcoming obstacles is the biggest part of implementing any project," he said, adding that the high completion rates reflect the effectiveness of the minister's hands-on approach. The terminal is currently operational, with final handover preparations underway. The ministry has implemented numerous measures to sustain project momentum, including developing a geographic information system (GIS) in partnership with the Public Authority for Civil Information. This system tracks key details across 12 Ministry of Public Works projects and six General Authority for Roads and Land Transport initiatives, such as project supervisors, contracts, and contractors, accessible through a centralized platform. Al-Saleh also highlighted Minister Al-Mishaan's commitment to Kuwaitizing supervisory and engineering positions within the ministry. A Kuwaitization unit was established last year in cooperation with the Public Authority for Manpower, encouraging Kuwaiti engineers to apply for supervisory roles. Currently, all project supervisors appointed by both the ministry and contractors are Kuwaiti nationals. "The ministry has fully Kuwaitized government contracts and their governance," Al-Saleh stated. "This is a major achievement, with governance now firmly embedded within the civil service framework. We are advancing toward complete governance of all our operations."

Namaa Charity, UNHCR ink deal to support returning Syrian refugees
Partnership to offer cash grants and promote sustainable resettlement KUWAIT: Namaa Charity, an affiliate of the Social Reform Society, signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Monday, aimed at supporting the reintegration of returning Syrian refugees. The initiative seeks to empower returnees by providing them with cash assistance to help facilitate their safe return and sustainable resettlement in Syria. The agreement was signed by Vice Chairman of the Social Reform Society Mohammad Al-Omar on behalf of Namaa Charity, and UNHCR Representative in Kuwait Nasreen Rabiaan, in the presence of key officials including Ministry of Social Affairs Spokesman Yousef Al-Mutairi. Speaking to KUNA following the signing, Al-Omar said the agreement reflects a strong joint commitment to improving the living conditions of vulnerable Syrian families and easing their transition back into their communities. 'This cooperation is a model of global solidarity, and part of Namaa Charity's mission to support those most in need through developmental and humanitarian initiatives,' he noted. Chairman of the Union of Charitable Societies and Organizations and CEO of Namaa Charity, Saad Al-Otaibi, said the agreement builds on Kuwait's longstanding charitable legacy of aiding affected populations across the globe, particularly those impacted by conflict. 'This partnership is a testament to the trust placed in Kuwait's charitable institutions, thanks to their adherence to legal frameworks and ethical standards,' he said. Al-Otaibi emphasized that the initiative aligns with Kuwait's humanitarian vision, adding that the financial support offered through the agreement will help returning Syrian families achieve economic and social stability. 'It empowers them to rebuild dignified lives based on productivity and self-reliance—goals central to our union's strategic outlook,' he added. UNHCR's Rabiaan described the agreement as timely, coming amid growing numbers of Syrian refugees choosing to return home. 'Cash assistance is one of the most effective forms of support during the initial phase of resettlement,' she said, noting it allows families to meet essential needs such as food, shelter, and transportation. She praised Kuwait's charitable sector for its continued collaboration and commitment to humanitarian causes. Meanwhile, Ministry of Social Affairs Spokesman Yousef Al-Mutairi affirmed the ministry's dedication to advancing the performance and transparency of Kuwaiti charitable work. He noted that recent reforms have strengthened governance, ensured sustainability, and transformed charity from short-term relief to strategic development. 'Humanitarian work today follows a scientific and measurable approach, aligned with strategic planning and global partnership,' Al-Mutairi said. 'We remain committed to supporting collaborations with international and UN agencies to advance humanitarian efforts worldwide.' — KUNA

French presidency underscores significance of Amir's official visit
Kuwaiti-French ties marked by strategic partnership and shared vision PARIS: The French Presidency on Sunday affirmed the special significance of the official visit by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to France — his first since assuming leadership of the State of Kuwait. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Elysee Palace stressed that the visit underscores the depth of historical relations and serves to reinforce the longstanding comprehensive partnership between the two friendly nations. The statement highlighted that the visit reflects the mutual desire of both countries to bolster cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including diplomacy, defense, economy, education, health, culture and scientific research. It noted that the visit is rooted in the robust bilateral ties characterized by mutual trust and respect, and represents a reaffirmation of the shared commitment to advancing this strategic partnership. The Elysee added that the visit will also strengthen coordination in addressing regional challenges and will include His Highness the Amir attending the Bastille Day military parade on July 14 alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. His Highness is also scheduled to hold a working luncheon with the French leader at the Elysee Palace. Kuwaiti-French relations, the statement noted, are founded on historic solidarity, with France being among the first countries to recognize Kuwait's independence and offering vital support during the 1991 liberation. This historical support has laid the foundation for enduring political trust and continued high-level engagement between the two nations. The two sides maintain close cooperation in international forums and share converging views on several global issues, particularly on the respect for international law and the promotion of mediation and peaceful conflict resolution. On the economic front, bilateral trade between Kuwait and France reached approximately €2.8 billion (around $3.27 billion) in 2023, with France ranking as Kuwait's fourth-largest trading partner in Europe. French companies maintain a strong presence in Kuwait, particularly in the sectors of infrastructure, energy, and construction. Cultural and educational ties also continue to thrive, with France supporting the French language and culture in Kuwait through institutions such as the French School and the French Institute. More than 1,000 students benefit from joint academic programs, while a growing number of Kuwaiti students pursue higher education in France. In the health sector, leading French medical institutions — including the Gustave Roussy Institute — are contributing to the development of Kuwait's healthcare services through specialized projects and technical consultations, reflecting expanding collaboration in public service and development fields. Relations between Kuwait and France stand as a model of enduring friendship and strong partnership, the Elysee emphasized, noting both nations' mutual commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in a manner that supports regional and global stability. Earlier Sunday, His Highness the Amir departed Kuwait, heading to Paris on an official visit. He is accompanied by an official delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and a number of senior state officials. — KUNA
