Sixers star Joel Embiid ranked No. 6 player in the Eastern Conference

There has been a lot of talk about Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid as of late. It makes sense when considering the big fella only played 19 games in the 2024-25 season and admitted to ESPN that there is no timeline for his return, but a lot of people seem to forget how great Embiid is. Embiid did just win the MVP award in 2023 when he averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. He was on his way to winning the award again in 2024 before suffering a left knee injury against the Golden State Warriors on the road in January of that year. He did score 70 points in a game in January of 2024, after all. Embiid is still a fantastic player if healthy and right--of course, that is a big *if* at the moment. ranked their top 10 players in the Eastern Conference and Embiid comes in ranked No. 6 on the list: Some might argue that a former Kia MVP — just two seasons ago! — is slotted too low, while others who cite his inability to stay on the floor might say he's too high. The truth is right here, in the middle, at No. 6 for a center who is a force when healthy. Here are the facts: Embiid has never played 69 or more games in a season and played just 58 combined the last two. His conditioning is a perpetual issue, and his height — combined with his weight — could cause availability problems the rest of his career. That said, he's an MVP candidate when fit and motivated and can take over games at both ends. He has averaged 30.6 ppg or more in three of the past four seasons, is a decent 3-point shooter, has a career 11 rpg average and is among the game's best shot blockers. The players listed ahead of Embiid, for those who don't want to see for themselves, are: At this point in time heading into the 2025-26 season, it's hard to argue Embiid over those five when considering the injury question. Either way, the Sixers will be looking to their superstar big man to lead the way if he is, in fact, healthy and ready to roll.

Warriors Reportedly Have Verbal Agreements With 3 Key Free Agents

Warriors Reportedly Have Verbal Agreements With 3 Key Free Agents originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The Golden State Warriors appear to be gearing up for a critical offseason reshuffle, and reports now suggest that the front office has already made some quiet but pivotal moves. According to NBA insider Jake Weinbach, the Warriors have secured verbal commitments from three impactful free agents: Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton, and Gary Payton II. However, these deals remain in limbo as the team's salary cap situation is directly tied to the unresolved status of Jonathan Kuminga. The Warriors are navigating delicate financial terrain, particularly with the NBA's strict luxury tax thresholds and the recently implemented second apron regulations. These rules drastically limit roster-building options for high-spending teams, and Golden State must be careful about triggering hard cap restrictions. That's why, despite the reported verbal agreements, none of these signings will be made official until the Kuminga situation is clarified. Kuminga has become the center of Golden State's offseason drama. Once seen as a foundational piece for the post-Steph era, he now finds himself at the heart of multiple trade rumors. The Sacramento Kings reportedly offered a package including Malik Monk and a protected first-round pick, along with a $63 million extension for Kuminga. The Suns, meanwhile, have also made an aggressive push to acquire the 21-year-old forward, and recent reports suggest that Kuminga is open to landing in either Sacramento or Phoenix. However, in a sudden change of heart, the Warriors have reportedly shut down sign-and-trade discussions involving Kuminga. Despite the rejection of a contract offer and the growing interest from rival teams, Golden State now seems intent on working toward a long-term solution that keeps Kuminga in the Bay Area. If that reconciliation proves successful, the Warriors may need to make additional financial moves to fit Horford, Melton, and Payton II under the hard cap. Each of the three reported signings addresses a different need. Al Horford, despite his age, remains one of the smartest and most versatile big men in the game, offering floor spacing, leadership, and high-IQ defense. De'Anthony Melton brings elite perimeter defense and shooting, two skills that the Warriors have lacked off the bench in recent seasons. And Gary Payton II, a familiar face and a fan favorite, provides defensive energy and transition speed, potentially reviving the identity that helped them win the 2022 championship. Still, all these acquisitions hinge on how the Kuminga saga ends. If the Warriors keep him, they'll need to get creative with salary cap maneuvering. If they move him, they'll gain flexibility but risk losing a budding star who just averaged 16.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last season. Golden State is clearly trying to walk the tightrope between chasing one last title with its aging core and preparing for a younger, more sustainable future. Whether they can pull it off depends on how they resolve the Kuminga dilemma, and how fast they can make these verbal agreements story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.

Warriors Not Interested In 6x All-Star Replacement For Jonathan Kuminga

Warriors Not Interested In 6x All-Star Replacement For Jonathan Kuminga originally appeared on Fadeaway World. A few days ago, the Golden State Warriors reportedly made their demands clear in any trade for Jonathan Kuminga, they have a list of three demands from any team interested. They want a young player, a first-round pick, and no bad contracts in the potential deal. Following this, it was reported that teams like the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and Phoenix Suns were in the race to get Jonathan Kuminga eventually. Now, sources have claimed that in the trade negotiations with the Kings, the Warriors have refused to show any interest in the six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan. According to Sam Amick, a senior writer with The Athletic, the Warriors reportedly don't want DeRozan or Devin Carter in a potential trade for Kuminga. He appeared on the 'Warriors Plus Minus' podcast and gave the inside details on the negotiations. "My understanding is the Warriors weren't interested in Carter or DeRozan. As of a couple of weeks ago, the Kings weren't willing to pay Kuminga into the $20 million range (AAV)." DeMar DeRozan is expected to earn $24,750,000 in the coming season (2025-26) and $25,740,000 in the year after that. For the Warriors to be able to trade for DeRozan without giving up any further assets, they would have to forego the demand of a promising young player and still meet Kuminga's demands and offer him a contract in the region of $25 million per year. Thus, it can be assumed that the Warriors considered DeRozan a bad contract at this value or did not deem him as a sufficient return for trading away a promising young player like Kuminga. The 35-year-old former NBA All-Star is entering the 17th season of his NBA career. In a team like the Warriors, looking to go younger and not be over-reliant on veterans, it makes sense that they said no to DeRozan. DeRozan averaged 22.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in the 2024-25 season. Nearing the fading end of his career, DeRozan is not a great long-term investment for the Warriors. But the question that arises here is, among the teams interested in Kuminga, is he the best offer the Warriors are going to get? The Warriors have reportedly only considered Ayo Dosunmu from the Bulls and reportedly liked none of the offers that were presented to them in the negotiations with either of the teams mentioned above. Jonathan Kuminga was also in no rush to accept any offers from the Warriors' front office, who reportedly offered him a $20 million per year deal. It is becoming increasingly more likely that either Jonathan Kuminga will stay with the Warriors and wait until next season to become an unrestricted free agent, or the front offices of all these teams are preparing a massive deal that involves other primary restricted free agents like Josh Giddey and Cam story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jul 30, 2025, where it first appeared.
