LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More than 400 new and returning Constellation employees and Pennsylvania building trades members gathered today at the Crane Clean Energy Center to hear from Gov. Josh Shapiro, local officials, and Microsoft and Constellation executives as widespread support builds for the plant's restart. The celebration follows news that the plant could restart as early as 2027, with the approval of an early interconnection request by grid operator PJM and significant progress made on hiring, reactor operator training and major equipment purchases. Governor Shapiro wrote a letter to PJM helping to secure approval of that expedited request.

'With PJM's action, Microsoft's historic investment, and strong support from Governor Shapiro, elected officials and members of this community, we're on track to make history ahead of schedule, helping America achieve energy independence, supercharge economic growth, and win the global AI race.'

My proposed energy plan would spark the next generation of energy production here in Pennsylvania, and projects like this are going to help us continue to create energy jobs and build a more reliable, affordable energy grid. I look forward to continuing to bring people together to get stuff done for Pennsylvanians and speed up the development of new energy resources in the Commonwealth."
'As Microsoft continues its path to become a carbon negative company, this agreement brings a significant supply of new, reliable, carbon-free electricity back to the PJM power grid,' said Bobby Hollis, VP of Energy, Microsoft. 'This will help address the grids' capacity and reliability needs in the regions we operate.'
Constellation continues to make strong progress toward the safe and efficient restart of the Crane Clean Energy Center. The facility is now more than 64% staffed, with nearly 400 full-time employees on board and 58 additional hires with start dates in the coming weeks. Significant technical milestones have also been reached, including the successful inspection of the plant's diesel generator, steam generator, main generator, turbines, and other major systems.
Many of Crane's office buildings have been renovated and enhancements to the training center and control room simulator are nearly complete. The site's new main power transformers will be delivered next year utilizing the skills of hundreds of rigging experts, local skilled labor, and electrical specialists. Constellation also remains on track with its regulatory filings and recently submitted key licensing amendments to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). In May, the NRC approved a license request to rename Unit 1 to the Crane Clean Energy Center.

Constellation pledged $1 million in community contributions over five years and has already provided $185,000 to community partners in 2025. During today's event, the company announced two new community donations:
$25,000 to Lower Dauphin Communities That Care's Bookmobile, which serves local schools
$20,000 to Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania
"Constellation has always been a good neighbor for Londonderry Township and we are looking forward to that continuing into the future,' added Anna Dale, Londonderry Township Supervisor. 'An active power plant is good for our local economy and helps support countless businesses across the region. Their support of our community, especially the fire department, has always been exceptional and we remain grateful for all of the support they've shown."
Prior to its premature retirement in 2019, the plant served as an economic engine for the state. An independent study found that Constellation's $1.6 billion investment to restart the Crane Clean Energy Center is expected to:
Create 3,400 direct and indirect jobs
Add $16 billion to Pennsylvania's GDP
Generate more than $3 billion in state and federal tax revenue

Although Loop Capital's Street-high price target has certainly fueled excitement, there's a broader wave of optimism driving the rally. Investors appear increasingly confident that China's export restrictions won't derail Nvidia's leadership in the AI space, especially as global demand for advanced computing continues to soar. Adding to the bullish tone, CEO Jensen Huang struck an ambitious note at Nvidia's annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday, describing AI and robotics as a 'multitrillion-dollar growth opportunity.' The comments come at a time when governments around the world are ramping up investments in sovereign AI capabilities to tackle critical national priorities. Nvidia's data center business demonstrated a stunning 73% YOY jump to $39.1 billion, making up a commanding 88% of total revenue. The gaming segment also impressed, climbing 42% to $3.8 billion on strong demand for high-performance chips. Even the automotive and robotics unit got in on the action, racing ahead by 72% YOY to $567 million. Nvidia ran into a regulatory hurdle in the quarter when the U.S. slapped fresh restrictions on its previously approved H20 chip for China. The fallout wasn't small. The company took a $4.5 billion hit for excess inventory and missed out on an estimated $2.5 billion in sales. That dragged its adjusted gross margin down to 61%, although without the impact that would have come in at a much stronger 71.3%. On the bottom line, Nvidia delivered adjusted earnings of $0.81 per share, up 33% from last year and beating expectations by 8%. Without the H20 chip charge, earnings would have jumped to $0.96 per share. Still, investors seemed pleased, sending NVDA stock up 3.3% on May 29. Looking ahead, Nvidia is guiding for $45 billion in revenue for Q2 of fiscal 2026, give or take 2%. That figure already bakes in an estimated $8 billion hit from the latest export restrictions on its H20 chips. On the profitability side, Nvidia expects GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins to be 71.8% and 72%, with a 50-basis-point cushion in either direction. Despite recent headwinds, the company isn't backing down. It's still setting its sights on gross margins climbing into the mid-70% range by year-end. Fueling Nvidia's latest surge, Loop Capital cranked up its price target from $175 to a Street-high $250, reaffirming its 'Buy' rating. Analyst Ananda Baruah didn't hold back in his bullish outlook, remarking that we're entering the next 'Golden Wave' of generative AI adoption, with Nvidia positioned right at the forefront. According to Baruah, demand for Nvidia's high-end AI chips is ramping up even faster than expected, setting the stage for another powerful leg of growth. Overall, Nvidia continues to enjoy unwavering support on Wall Street, where the consensus remains a resounding 'Strong Buy.' Why Are Meta Platforms, Microsoft, and Nvidia Outperforming the "Magnificent Seven" and the S&P 500?

Meta Platforms, Microsoft, and Nvidia are turning AI investments into concrete results. Artificial intelligence has helped these companies grow their profit margins. All three stocks sport reasonable valuations despite being around all-time highs. These 10 stocks could mint the next wave of millionaires › Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) are knocking on the door of all-time highs, whereas the other four "Magnificent Seven" stocks -- Amazon, Alphabet, Tesla, and Apple -- are down year to date. What gives? Here's why artificial intelligence (AI) monetization is a key differentiating factor that separates Meta, Microsoft, and Nvidia from the rest of the pack -- and why all three growth stocks could still have further room to run. Meta, Microsoft, and Nvidia benefit from AI in a variety of ways. These benefits could be the primary reason for the strong performance of all three stocks relative to the S&P 500 year to date. Meta uses AI to improve its algorithm, keeping users engaged and connecting advertisers with potential buyers. The longer users stay on Meta's Family of Apps (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Threads), the more attractive those platforms become for advertisers. Meta is expanding its AI investments by pouring capital expenditures into other AI endeavors, like the Meta AI App. Launched on April 29, the app is built with the latest version of Meta's large language model, Llama 4. The app offers a personalized AI experience designed around voice conversation. Microsoft has integrated AI across its Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) through an AI feature called Copilot, GitHub Copilot for developers, Azure AI services for cloud computing, and more. AI presents arguably the most impactful product upgrade in years for Microsoft's legacy software suite and Intelligent Cloud platform. Nvidia makes graphics processing units (GPUs), which are the workhorses that power data centers. More computing power will be needed to support growing AI adoption and the increasing complexity of AI models. Nvidia is the undisputed leader in providing a full stack of AI computing solutions that includes hardware (GPUs), software, and other cloud-based solutions. Meanwhile, Nvidia AI software tools like CUDA and TensorRT help developers use Nvidia GPUs for everything from general-purpose computing tasks to training deep learning models. The market hates uncertainty, but it also loves companies with a clear vision for growing revenue and converting capital expenditures into free cash flow. Meta, Microsoft, and Nvidia all have multiple ways to grow earnings. Meta has steadily increased its advertising revenue and profitability over time, largely thanks to Instagram's innovations in short-form videos through Reels. Regardless of the success of the Meta AI app or Meta's other projects in augmented and virtual reality (like Meta Quest), the company could still generate solid growth from its Family of Apps alone. Microsoft is in a similar boat. It benefits from AI, but it isn't a pure-play AI company. Microsoft generates a ton of cash that it can funnel directly into long-term growth projects, while still having plenty of dry powder to manage its operating expenses and return cash to shareholders through buybacks and dividends. Nvidia has transformed its business from relying largely on gaming, professional visualization, cryptocurrency, and other end markets to being a majority of data center-focused business. This concentration makes Nvidia more of a pure-play AI name than Meta and Microsoft, which comes with higher risk and higher potential reward. What's more, Nvidia's sky-high operating margins have helped the company convert a substantial amount of revenue into profit. But competition or a slowdown in AI spending may lead to margin erosion over time. Even if that happens, the company could still grow earnings at a steady rate -- just not at the pace investors have grown accustomed to in recent years. Despite outperforming the S&P 500 and their Magnificent Seven peers so far this year, Meta, Microsoft, and Nvidia all sport surprisingly reasonable valuations. Except for Tesla on the high end and Alphabet on the low end, most of the Magnificent Seven have forward price-to-earnings ratios in the mid-20s to the mid-30s. This is far from value territory, but it is also not expensive, given how far these stocks have climbed in recent years. As mentioned, Meta, Microsoft, and Nvidia's high margins are a big reason to be optimistic about their future earnings growth. And, to no surprise, these three companies have the highest profit margins of the Magnificent Seven. Nvidia's 51.7% profit margin means that it converts over half of every dollar in sales into pure net income. That level of profitability is almost unheard of, especially for a majority hardware company. It also provides a cushion by which Nvidia's margins could come down and it would still be a phenomenal business. Granted, it's important to note that profit margin is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Amazon's profit margin looks low because of its high-volume but low-margin e-commerce business. Amazon Web Services makes up a fraction of Amazon's total sales, but it contributes the majority of its operating income because it is such a high-margin segment. Similarly, Tesla's primary business is manufacturing cars -- a traditionally low-margin business. Meta, Microsoft, and Nvidia stand out as long-term winners due to their established and industry-leading high-margin business models, upside potential from AI, and reasonable valuations. However, these stocks are not cheap. A growth slowdown could make any of these stocks appear more expensive in the near term. Windows has a major AI problem, and it's pushing me closer to Apple

Just over a year ago, Apple Intelligence was announced. It continues to be somewhat of a 'meh' affair compared to other rival products like Microsoft's Copilot and Google's Gemini. What was not 'meh' was the support for Apple's generative AI bundle, which extended all the way back to the M1 silicon introduced in 2020. Even the fresh batch of AI features — such as live translations and intelligent Shortcuts — are fully supported on the machines that will soon be five generations old. I can't say the same about Windows and its AI-powered rebirth with the Copilot package. Before confusion ensues, let me clear things up. Recommended Videos Copilot is a suite of AI features, just like Gemini or Apple Intelligence. Then we have Copilot+ machines, which is a branding for PCs that meet certain hardware-level requirements to enable AI-powered features on Windows laptops and PCs. Here's the weird part. A healthy bunch of Intel silicon launched in 2025 — even those in the powerful 'H' class — don't meet those AI processing requirements. All of it has created a weird kind of divide in the Windows ecosystem where certain advanced AI features are locked to a handful of cheaper machines, even if you paid a much higher price to get a laptop with a far more powerful processor. Oddly, it's not just the hardware, but the software experience that now feels different. Copilot+ is not merely AI hype Before we get into the hardware limitations, let's break down the features. Copilot+ machines require a powerful hardware chip for AI acceleration to enable certain features, down to the OS level. For example, in the Settings app, Microsoft is pushing its own Mu small language model (SML) that runs entirely on the NPU. The NPU on a chip, however, must meet a certain performance baseline, something not even Intel and AMD silicon launched in 2025 fulfill universally. Let's start with the AI-powered Settings app interactions. It can now understand natural language queries and make suggestions so that users can directly take action with a click. If you type something like 'My screen doesn't feel smooth,' the Settings app will show a dialog box underneath the search bar, where you get an actionable button to increase the refresh rate and make the interactions smoother. Apple is chasing something similar and has implemented it within the Spotlight system in macOS Tahoe. Next, we have Recall. It's like a time machine system that takes snapshots of your PC activity in the background and analyzes them contextually. In the future, if you seek to revisit or find something, you can simply type a natural language query and find a record of the activity, complete with a link to the webpage or app you were working with. It almost feels magical, and you can read more about my experience here. The crucial benefit is that a healthy bunch of Copilot+ AI features will run on-device, which means they won't require an internet connection. That's convenient, but in hindsight, it's a huge sigh of relief that all user activity remains locked to your device and nothing is sent to servers. Copilot+ hardware also enables a bunch of creative features such as Cocreator and Generative Fill in Paint, Super Resolution, Image Creator, and Restyle in the native Photos app. But there are a few that are meaningful for day-to-day PC usage. With Click to Do in the Snipping Tool, the AI analyzes the text and image on the screen, somewhat like Google Lens and Apple Intelligence. You can select text, look it up on the web with a single click, send email, open a website, summarize, rewrite, and take a wide range of image actions such as copy, share, visual search in Bing, erase objects, remove background, and do more — without ever opening another app. On the more practical side of things, we have translated Live Captions that cover over 40 languages. The translation and captioning happen in real-time and work during video calls and video watching, too. Finally, we have Windows Studio Effects, which can perform chores such as automatic frame adjustment, portrait lighting tweaks, switch background effects, minimize noise, and even make gaze adjustment. The Copilot+ hardware wall Even if you splurge $4,899 on a Razer Blade 18 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and Nvidia's top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 5090 graphics, your beastly gaming laptop still won't be able to run the Copilot+ features in Windows 11. That's because the NPU on this processor can only manage 13 TOPS, but a pint-sized $800 Microsoft tablet with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor can handle all the exclusive Copilot+ features just fine. It's disheartening, because the Copilot+ experiences in Windows 11 are meaningful OS advancements. Most of them, at least. I have used a few of them extensively, and they feel like a practical evolution. Yet, depriving machines that merely miss out on a powerful NPU, despite packing plenty of compute and graphics processing power, is simply unfortunate. Microsoft has laid out tight hardware requirements for machines that can bear the Copilot+ badge — 256GB of storage, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and a processor with a dedicated AI accelerator chip that can output a minimum of 40 TOPS performance. That's a bottleneck from both ends. First, there are still a healthy bunch of machines that ship with 8GB of RAM, and that too, the DDR4 type memory. Take, for example, the Asus Vivobook 17, which costs $700 and ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory on the entry-point configuration, even with the variant that packs a 13th-generation Intel processor. Let's say you pay up to reach 16GB of RAM. Despite that added stress on your wallet, you are still limited by the RAM type and won't be able to run Copilot+ tools on the machine. It's worth mentioning that there are a LOT of Windows machines that still pack 8GB of RAM, and even when they go up to 16GB capacity, they still rely on the DDR4-type memory. Now, it's time to address the elephant in the room. The silicon situation. The latest from Intel is the Ultra 200 series processor family, which is bifurcated across Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake lines. These Ultra 200 series processors are available in four formats: V-series, U-series, H-series, HX-series, and H-series. Out of the four brackets, only the V-series processors support Copilot+ experiences on Windows 11. Even the enthusiast-class H and HX series processors don't meet the NPU requirements, and as such, they are devoid of the Copilot+ AI features. As perplexing as the situation remains with Intel Core 200 series silicon, the situation with AMD and its Copilot+ readiness isn't too different. At the moment, only AMD's Ryzen AI 300 series processors fall under the Copilot+ bracket. That means if you invested in a top-shelf AMD silicon in the past few years, or even aim to build an AMD gaming rig this year, you either lose out on Copilot+ perks or must pick from the Ryzen AI 300 series line-up. Even older Macs do better The situation with Copilot+ is weird because it has created fault lines in the Windows 11 experience that don't make sense, neither from a price perspective, nor from a firepower angle. It even makes one feel bad about spending a fortune on a top-tier Intel processor, only to find it locked beyond next-gen AI features in Windows 11 because the NPU isn't up to the task. The only other option is to pick a Qualcomm Snapdragon X-series processor. But in doing so, you run into the compatibility hurdles that come with Windows on Arm. Plus, the GPU limitations rule out gaming or other demanding tasks where you need a powerful GPU. Right now, it seems like Copilot+ is a bag of serious caveats. And as Microsoft's team comes with more AI-first experiences, the gulf within Windows 11 is only going to widen. An $800 Copilot+ machine will run native AI experiences that even a powerful desktop won't be able to handle in the near future. The situation within the Apple ecosystem is just the opposite. Even if you have a nearly five-year-old M1 MacBook Air, you can run all the Apple Intelligence features just fine. Now, one can argue that AI is not the deciding factor for picking up a laptop. But as companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Google deeply integrate AI packages such as Copilot, Siri, and Gemini across their OS at the native level, these AI features will essentially serve as a key computing evolution.
