New Beverley race seen as a good fit for Al Qareem

Trained by Middleham's Karl Burke and owned by the locally-based Nick Bradley Racing, the six-year-old is a fitting competitor in the mile-and-a-half Listed event which was previously run as the Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket and now named after his Hull-born contemporary, the 1887 champion jockey Wood.
'I think he will run and I see a couple of them in the race have been declared elsewhere and I think it is a very winnable option for him,' said Nick Bradley.
'It's a new race with £28,000 to the winner, it's a Listed race and even with a penalty he's clear of everything else in the race. Beverley is a front-runner's track and will suit him so I don't see too much wrong with the race.'
Al Qareem has been in top form this season, winning at Nottingham in the Further Flight Stakes in April before finishing an honourable second to Aidan O'Brien's Gold Cup runner-up Illinois at Chester.
He followed that up with a destructive display at York when handing Willie Mullins' Absurde a four-and-a-half length beating in the Listed Grand Cup, and a return to the Knavesmire for the John Smith's Silver Cup is available as an option if connections make a late defection from Beverley.
'The alternative is York the following race and he'll run in one of the two, but I think I'm favouring Beverley.' continued Bradley.
'He did well last time and Clifford (Lee, jockey) gave him a brilliant ride that day, he got the second horse (Absurde) keen and we got lucky that a few behind didn't really show up.
'I thought it was a career best but I'm not sure the horse is particularly getting really better, we're just managing him better and placing him better. We know him more now.'

Youth baseball coaches fired for stripping naked in front of kids as disturbing footage emerges

Two Illinois youth baseball coaches have been fired after being filmed stripping naked and streaking during a tournament for under-12s, according to reports. The incident occurred in Cooperstown, New York last weekend and has since gone viral on the internet after a bystander captured a video of the shocking scenes. In the clip, the laughter of children can be heard as the coaches stripped off and made their way round the bases - before one of them slid headfirst into home plate. It remains unclear as to what drove the coaches to perform the distressing act. Though both coaches - from Lake Bluff, Illinois - have been dismissed from their roles, they could still face further punishment over the incident, according to CBS. The Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association have confirmed that they are working with local authorities - given the fact that children were present at the time. Two youth baseball coaches have been fired after stripping naked at an under-12s tournament In a statement, the league said: 'We are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and have contacted relevant authorities. We will continue to support those authorities in their investigations of this matter. 'We have also taken immediate and decisive action by terminating the assistant coaches involved'. As a result of the coaches wild actions, the team were disqualified and the local sheriff's department were called to the scene. The team typically play in Lake Bluff field in Chicago and have been part of the league for 70 years.

American soccer greats hail rising star and Gold Cup hero Diego Luna as shining light for the USMNT's future

American soccer legends Landon Donovan, Alexi Lalas and Maurice Edu have all rushed to praise Diego Luna as he looks set to battle Malik Tillman to become the USMNT's starting number 10 at next year's FIFA World Cup. Luna scored both goals on Wednesday night in America's 2-1 Gold Cup semi-final victory against Guatemala, continuing the midfielder's meteoric rise from the USL to international stardom. Speaking on FOX Sports, Donovan emphasized just how impressive the 21-year old's performances have been: 'Guys, three years ago, Diego Luna was playing in the USL, for the El Paso Locomotive. I literally coached against him - the second division of America.' 'Today, he pushed his team to the Gold Cup final. Incredible story, could not be happier for that young man.' Having scored his first ever international goal in America's tense quarter-final win over Costa Rica on penalties, Luna now has three goals in two games for Mauricio Pochettino 's side. The Argentinian head coach will hope that Luna's superb form in 2025 will help propel the USMNT to an upset against tournament favorites and defending champions Mexico in Saturday's final. Despite being left out of last year's Olympic squad, Alexi Lalas believes that the 2003-born Real Salt Lake star is starting to put himself in contention for a starting position at the World Cup: 'He's doing the right things, he's saying the right things, and those moments that are coming are memorable'. Lalas, who made 96 appearances for America's national team, also credited Luna for silencing some of the side's many critics ahead of this year's Gold Cup: 'It's in the context of a team that came into the tournament, where there was a lot of negativity towards this team. And there still is. I'm sure there's a lot of people who aren't sold on, whether its Diego Luna or anyone else out there. But sports are for the moment. You have to be able to celebrate these moments.' 'It's fun to see others celebrate this team in terms of what they are doing. A lot of it is for someone like Diego Luna. For the way that he plays, and the way in which he holds himself when he plays.' Lalas' description of Luna as a much needed breath of fresh air for America is one that Maurice Edu has also agreed on, going as far as to say that the question has now shifted away from whether or not Luna can make the World Cup side and rather If he will be good enough to earn a start: 'I feel like the two of them are competing for that No. 10 position, Luna and Tillman'. Luna and the rest of Pochettino's side will look to secure America's eighth Gold Cup title on Saturday as they return to the final for the first time since 2021 in what will be their last competitive game before next year's World Cup.

Boiling Over is an 11/8 favourite to win at Haydock today - while highly-touted debutant Look To The Stars is a 2/1 second-favourite

Two-year-old colt Boiling Over is an 11/8 favourite with Sky Bet to win Race 5 at Haydock today. In what is a Class 3 flat contest held over a distance of just over six furlongs - Boiling Over's trainer Karl Burke will be looking for his thoroughbred to go one better than last time out and claim the maiden win of his career. Boiling Over was strong in his most recent outing last month - with the Irish thoroughbred finishing second by less than a length from Saba Desert. Meanwhile, Charlie Appleby's Look To The Stars is perceived to be Boiling Over's biggest threat - with the two-year-old debutant a slight second-favourite at 2/1. For those after somewhat of an outsider - Protection Act, Evanesco and Yachtsman round out the five favourites in the market at 15/2, 9/1 and 10/1 respectively. Similarly to Look To The Stars, the above mentioned Protection Act and Evanesco are on debut, while Yachtsman finished fourth out of eight runners in the first race of his career at Sandown last month. Sky Bet favourites for Race 5 at Haydock: Boiling Over 11/8 Look To The Stars 2/1 Protection Act 15/2 Evanesco 9/1 Yachtsman 10/1
