Almost Cops brings together two very different personalities on the same side of the law. Ramon, played by Jandino Asporaat, is a straight-laced community officer trying to keep his Rotterdam South neighbourhood safe. Jack, played by Werner Kolf, is a hot-headed ex-detective who's been kicked down a few ranks after a serious incident.
When they're forced to team up, it's like mixing oil and water. But as they dig deeper into a murder case that's personal to both of them, they start to bond. Turns out, they've both lost someone close to them to violence. And as the unlikely duo get closer to the truth, they also uncover secrets, surprises, and maybe even a bit of mutual respect. Packed with punchlines, action scenes, and heartfelt moments, Almost Cops feels like the perfect mix of fun and feels.
A solid team backing the mayhem
The film features a strong supporting cast including Florence Vos Weeda, Juliette van Ardenne, Ferdi Stofmeel, Stephanie Ergun, Stephanie van Eer, and Ergun Simsek. Also on board are well-known Dutch actors like Mark Rietman, Teun Kuilboer, Victoria Koblenko, and Romana Vrede.
Almost Cops is directed by Gonzalo Fernández Carmona and co-written by Thomas van der Ree, Joost Reijmers, and Kenneth Asporaat. Production is handled by Kaap Holland Film and Het Huis van Asporaat, with Jandino Asporaat also serving as one of the producers.
