Kids favourite ball pit extended after thousands enjoy colourful summer event
A popular summer attraction at Braehead Shopping Centre has been given an extended run after thousands of families flocked to enjoy the giant indoor ball pit.
The free experience, originally scheduled to end in mid-July, will now remain open daily until Sunday, August 3, allowing even more visitors to enjoy one of Scotland's most colourful summer events.
Located in the centre's Central Atrium, the 64 square metre ball pit is packed with more than 100,000 bright plastic balls and has proven a huge draw for children and adults alike.
Since opening, it has welcomed thousands of people through its gates, and now promises even more fun over the next two weeks.
In addition to providing hours of entertainment, the ball pit is also helping to raise funds for Cash for Kids, a charity which supports vulnerable children and young people across Scotland.
'We've been blown away by the response so far, so we're thrilled to extend the event for even longer,' said Ashley Bisland, Centre Director at Braehead.
'A visit to Braehead this summer is a great day out for all the family, and we love seeing people enjoying spending time together in the centre.'
The extension means more chances to take part in interactive games and family-friendly challenges being organised at the site, while helping a worthwhile cause at the same time.
Entry remains completely free, though donations to Cash for Kids are encouraged.
Alongside the ball pit, families can make the most of the centre's wide range of shops and dining options.
Retail favourites include NEXT, Smiggle, Flying Tiger, MINISO, Primark, Apple, M&S, and H&M, while recent additions such as Popeyes, Remus Uomo and Phase Eight continue to expand Braehead's offering.
Visitors can also enjoy a bite to eat at YO! Sushi, Five Guys, Nando's, Prezzo, Pizza Hut and Starbucks, among many others. Free parking is available on site, along with shopmobility services to ensure accessibility for all.
Established in 1999, Braehead Shopping Centre has grown into one of Scotland's top destinations for retail, food and leisure.
Conveniently positioned between Glasgow city centre and Glasgow Airport, it now hosts over 100 well-known brands under one roof.

The venue is also home to Braehead Arena, a 5,200-seat events and sports facility that serves as the home of the Glasgow Clan ice hockey team and regularly hosts concerts, exhibitions and family shows.
With its extended summer event, Braehead aims to give families a reason to stay local and enjoy a fun, free day out without breaking the bank.
The giant ball pit remains open until Sunday, August 3, in the Central Atrium. Entry is free and no booking is required.

Oasis fans hit with Covid 'superspreader' warning ahead of Murrayfield gigs
Experts are urging pandemic-style precautions ahead of the Edinburgh leg of Oasis' hotly-anticipated tour They are the live performances that Oasis enthusiasts in Scotland have been anticipating all summer, with Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher finally travelling north of the border for three sold-out shows at Murrayfield Stadium. The iconic brothers will be taking to the Edinburgh stage on August 8, 9, and 12, when eager fans will finally hear hits like 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger' for the first time since the pair's infamous fallout 16 years ago. However, with just five days until the band's first Scottish performance since 2009, supporters are being cautioned that the latest variant of Covid is circulating amongst music enthusiasts attending the Live 25 reunion tour. Ironically, the Stratus variant is recognised for causing people to develop a hoarse voice – rather like frontman and Britpop wildman Liam Gallagher, who has been troubled by laryngitis and other throat ailments. The virus has been circulating at London's Wembley Stadium, where Oasis have now completed five nights, with specialists recommending pandemic-style precautions before the Edinburgh portion of the tour. Over 200,000 people will pack into Scottish Gas Murrayfield, with the Scottish capital already heaving due to the Fringe, reports the Scottish Daily Express. Akash Sood from Knightswood Pharmacy said: "New strands of Covid can infect thousands within metres of one another, so wear a mask if concerned, be safe and enjoy the return of Oasis." The danger of contracting Covid at the concerts has also been emphasised by a team working on a documentary about the brothers' comeback tour. Fans heading into Wembley were greeted with a notice stating: "You acknowledge the contagious and potentially dangerous nature of Covid-19 and that the government and many public health authorities recommend social distancing." The message continued: "You acknowledge that there remains the possibility that you may come into direct or indirect contact with Covid and you freely and willingly enter this area." The newly identified Stratus strain comprises two variants, XFG and XFG. 3, with XFG.3 responsible for 30 per cent of all Covid cases in England, as reported by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). Dr Alex Allen, Consultant Epidemiologist at UKHSA, said it is "normal for viruses to mutate and change over time" and confirmed that the agency continues to monitor all strains of Covid within the UK. Sue Radford stops daughter Katie from visiting home with young son as she admits 'struggles'
Sue Radford was seen giving her daughter Katie some "tough love" in the latest episode of 22 Kids and Counting Sue Radford prevented her daughter Katie from popping round to their family home with her little lad in the latest instalment of their reality programme as part of her "tough love" approach. The Radford family first found fame when they appeared in their own Channel 5 show 22 Kids & Counting where they document the life of their large and ever-growing family. During the most recent episode, viewers saw new mum Katie struggle with motherhood as she relocated from an 11-bedroom family mansion where she resided alongside her numerous brothers and sisters, to a cramped flat. She gave birth to her first baby Ronnie with her partner of six years Connor Carter last October, though things haven't been entirely plain sailing for the 22-year-old. During the programme, she revealed her battles with night-time feeding sessions every two hours alongside feeling "isolated" and regretting her decision to move out, reports the Mirror. Shortly after welcoming her son Ronnie Hudson Carter into the world, the pair relocated to a compact flat situated just two hours away from the family residence. Katie has been struggling particularly since her partner Connor returned to his job. Discussing the circumstances, she explained: "A baby takes up a lot of room, there just wouldn't have been room in my mum and dad's house for us all. "Last night, he woke up every two hours... I don't think anything prepares you for having your own, I didn't expect this to be me. Connor went back to work today and it is harder, you've got to do everything yourself. "It is a lot harder living on your own. At home you've got your parents and your siblings to help, whereas when you're at your own place you've got to do it on your own. I wasn't prepared for any of that - the loneliness." Katie revealed she particularly yearns for her mum and dad and confessed it feels as though she's completely alone. Later in the programme, Katie admits she longs for the hectic atmosphere of living at home surrounded by her numerous brothers and sisters. The mum-of-one had been popping back to the family house almost daily, but mum Sue felt compelled to dish out some "tough love". She explained: "She was coming round every single day, 8:30am and then not going back until 6pm - I think she was missing everybody." She continued: "Katie coming round to the house every day is not really gonna help her settle into being in the flat on her own. Trying to help her, there's got to be a bit of tough love there." One scene captures Katie strolling with Ronnie as she remarks: "My mum's text - said I can't come round very strange." She reveals: "Memories like Ronnie's first smile or his first giggle, I'd like to share the moments with all my family, they're missing out on that. Some days I do regret moving from home."
