Person apprehended after unauthorized perimeter breach at Joint Base Langley-Eustis
Shortly before 8 a.m., a Hampton officer observed a vehicle traveling north on North Armistead Avenue make an abrupt right turn and proceed through a fence surrounding Langley Air Force Base, according to Hampton Police Division Public Information Officer Cpl. Shaun Stalnaker.
The officer initiated a pursuit and followed the vehicle onto the base. The officer was able to bring the vehicle to a stop shortly thereafter, Stalnaker said.
According to officials, installation security forces assisted in apprehending the driver who breached the JBLE Perimeter Gate.
Officials said there was no indication of a threat to national security and that no injuries were reported.

The investigation into this incident is being led by the Office of Special Investigations.

4 teens injured in Chicago mass shooting on West Side
A mass shooting in West Garfield Park left four teenagers injured on Sunday night. Around 11:30 p.m., Chicago police said a man pulled out a gun and fired shots in a crowd of people after arguing with another man in the 700 block of South Springfield Avenue. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. Two teens, a 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, were shot in the leg and thigh. They were taken to the same hospital where they are expected to recover. A 16-year-old girl was shot multiple times and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she is listed in fair condition. It is unclear what led up to the argument or the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been made. Chicago police are investigating.
