Selena Gomez reveals unexpected reaction to first kiss with fiancé Benny Blanco ahead of wedding
Speaking on the latest episode of the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, Gomez and Blanco reflected on their first kiss, which took place during their second date.
'We were sitting in the living room on the couch and playing 'We're Not Really Strangers,'' said Blanco. 'There was a card that said 'Take a selfie with the person next to you.' She got on my chest to take the photo and right after, I said, 'I got to kiss this girl.' And I kissed her right away.'
Gomez, 32, described the moment as both exciting and embarrassing. 'It was a very good kiss,' she said, before revealing how her nerves showed physically. Blanco added, 'Right away, her heart started beating quickly, she started getting a rash on her face and she was so nervous.'
Gomez said the moment was meaningful because she had not felt that way about anyone in years. 'Some kisses are for fun and then when you feel something behind the kiss it's completely different,' she said. 'I didn't want to be like, 'I like you, I really like you.''
The couple confirmed their relationship in December 2023 and announced their engagement a year later, with Gomez posting a photo of her diamond ring and writing, 'Forever begins now.' They first met in 2013 through Gomez's mother and later worked together on tracks from her 2015 album Revival.

The creator mimicked Blanco's speaking style and his way of describing the inspiration behind his music. Bieber's repost quickly drew attention, with many interpreting it as subtle shade toward Gomez and her current relationship. Reactions flooded X (formerly Twitter), where fans criticized Bieber for revisiting past drama. One user wrote, 'It's been decades… he needs to move tf on,' while another remarked, 'Imagine being a father and still obsessed with your ex.' Others speculated the post was a response to Gomez's recent engagement, with one fan commenting, 'He's crashing out every day ever since Selena got engaged.' Meanwhile, social media users noticed that Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber had unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking rumors of renewed tension. Although neither party has addressed the situation, fans suspect the repost may have contributed to the apparent fallout. Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber unfollow each other amid Justin Bieber drama and divorce speculation
Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have unfollowed each other on Instagram, marking a noticeable shift in their previously calm online relationship. The social media move, spotted on June 19, 2025, has reignited fan speculation about possible tensions between the two—especially in light of ongoing rumors surrounding Justin Bieber and his marriage to Hailey. The timing of the unfollow has raised eyebrows, particularly given the history between the two. Over two years ago, Gomez and Bieber appeared to publicly end their long-standing, fan-driven feud. In March 2023, they surprised the public by following each other on Instagram after Gomez urged her fans to stop harassing Hailey. Gomez had shared that Hailey reached out to her about the online abuse she was receiving, prompting the Rare Beauty founder to call for kindness and speak out against bullying. Their temporary peace was first signaled months earlier when the two posed together at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles in October 2022. Fans quickly noticed the recent unfollow and took to social media with reactions ranging from support to speculation. Many praised Gomez's decision as 'long overdue,' suggesting she is stepping back from unnecessary drama. Others questioned the timing, with some linking it to Justin Bieber's recent online behavior—including his alleged subtle jabs at Gomez and the fact that he recently unfollowed her fiancé, Benny Blanco. Fueling the speculation further are ongoing rumors about marital issues between Justin and Hailey Bieber. Some fans believe Gomez may have initially followed Hailey to help deescalate public conflict, but now sees no reason to maintain a digital connection. While neither Selena Gomez nor Hailey Bieber has publicly commented on the change, the unfollow has once again placed all three figures—Selena, Hailey, and Justin—at the center of renewed public scrutiny.
