The IGTD EXIM Chamber of Commerce from India sent a high-level delegation to Qatar from June 16 to June 19, 2025, in coordination with the Embassy of India in Doha. The visit was part of IGTD's ongoing initiative to strengthen international trade linkages and boost Indian exports to the Gulf region.
The Indian delegation comprised representatives from 11 companies across diverse sectors, including spices, cereals, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, ready-to-eat foods, frozen products, and confectionery. The visit served as a vital platform for exploring mutual trade interests, promoting collaboration between Indian exporters and Qatari importers, and identifying potential opportunities for joint ventures and investments.
A key highlight of the visit was a B2B networking event organized in collaboration with the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC), Qatar. Held with the participation of leading hypermarkets, supermarkets, and food and agro businesses in Qatar, the event enabled Indian exporters to directly engage with potential buyers and distributors.
The interactions provided a valuable opportunity to showcase product offerings and explore distribution and supply chain collaborations.
In addition to the networking event, the delegation held focused meetings with major retail chains and key business entities in Qatar. These discussions aimed at establishing direct commercial linkages and expanding the footprint of Indian products in the Qatari retail market.
A significant engagement during the visit was the meeting with board members of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The discussions centered around enhancing cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, processed foods, and spices.
A presentation by Invest Qatar on the investment landscape and sectoral growth opportunities in Qatar offered valuable insights to the Indian delegation. Representatives from the banking sector and other key industries also participated in the meeting, reflecting the multi-sectoral interest in strengthening bilateral economic ties.
The economic relationship between India and Qatar continues to grow robustly. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $14.14 billion in FY 2024–25, with India's exports to Qatar amounting to $1.68 billion and imports from Qatar totaling $12.46 billion. These figures underscore the deepening economic interdependence between the two nations.
The IGTD EXIM Chamber of Commerce, a trade promotion body headquartered in India, plays a pivotal role in connecting Indian businesses with international markets. Through trade missions, sector-specific collaborations, and business development initiatives, the chamber facilitates greater global market access for Indian exporters.
The successful visit of the IGTD EXIM Chamber delegation marks another step forward in the deepening of commercial ties between India and Qatar. It aligns with both countries' shared vision of diversifying their economies and expanding cooperation across strategic sectors.

Qatar's economy grows 3.7% in Q1 2025

QNA Doha The Qatari economy achieved real growth of 3.7 percent at constant prices during the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in the previous year. In a press release on Monday, the National Planning Council (NPC) said GDP at constant prices reached QR181.5 billion in the first quarter of 2025, compared to QR175 billion in the same quarter of the previous year. These results indicate strong progress towards achieving sustainable growth, built on diversifying the economy beyond hydrocarbon activities and increasing the contribution of the private sector in accordance with the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3) and Qatar's National Vision 2030. To provide a more accurate reading of the national economy, the National Statistics Center, within the National Planning Council, deployed an updated methodology for calculating GDP, and has revised quarterly GDP data for the period between 2018 and 2024. The revisions in the methodology revolved around updating indicators for different economic activities, and introducing other advanced calculations that align with international standards for measuring output. Data issued by the National Statistics Centre highlighted the results of national efforts in strengthening the non-hydrocarbon economy, whose contribution constituted 63.6 percent of real GDP for the first quarter of 2025, around QR115 billion, a growing share compared to the 62.6 percent figure in the same period in 2024. The non-hydrocarbon economy is delivering accelerated year-on-year growth of 5.3 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same last year.

EAA, American Chamber of Commerce team up to expand ‘Qatar Connection'

Tribune News Network Doha Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, a global foundation for education and development, has announced a new collaboration agreement with the American Chamber of Commerce Qatar, marking a strategic step to further strengthen the 'Qatar Connection' platform, a key pillar of the Qatar Scholarship Programme. The partnership aims to provide Qatar Scholarship recipients with meaningful opportunities to complement their academic experience with real-world professional and knowledge exchange engagements in Qatar. The Qatar Scholarship Programme is one of EAA Foundation's flagship higher education and empowerment initiatives. It is built on three core pillars: access to quality education, civic engagement, and the Qatar Connection component. The partnership opens new pathways for students to engage in academic, professional, and cultural exchange opportunities with leading international corporations as well as Qatari institutions from both the public and private sectors, most notably the Foundation's strategic partner, the Qatar Fund for Development. The 'Qatar Connection' component is designed to ensure that recipients of the Qatar Scholarship Programme remain actively connected to the State of Qatar. This is achieved through student exchange programmes, internships, and a wide range of cultural and community-based activities implemented in collaboration with partners in Qatar. Through its network of member companies, the American Chamber of Commerce Qatar will provide Qatar Scholarship students with information on available training programmes, professional development opportunities, and job openings. The collaboration also includes the organisation of joint events, including career fairs and professional meet-and-greets that will connect students directly with business leaders operating in Qatar. Commenting on the partnership, Talal Alhathal, director of the Al Fakhoora Programme at EAA Foundation, said: 'We believe that connecting students to real-world professional environments within Qatar significantly enriches their learning journey and equips them to become impactful leaders in their communities. We are pleased with this partnership which supports the vision of Qatar Connection as a bridge between education and the labour market for our scholarship recipients.' Jay Turk, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Qatar, added: 'In my opinion, this joint collaboration with Education Above All complements our shared commitment to talent development by supporting scholarship recipients with opportunities to access training or programs through AmCham members. By joining forces, we aim to create a tangible, lasting impact both locally and internationally.' For more information about Education Above All Foundation and its mission, visit
