Australia lost seven wickets for 68 runs in a dramatic collapse to be all out for 225 on day one of the third test against West Indies at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
West Indies finished the day on 16 for one -- 209 runs behind - after Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc dismissed Kevlon Anderson in the pacer's 100th test.
Australia won the toss and opted to bat first for the day-night test but crumbled despite being 157-3 at one stage as the West Indies bowlers ripped through their middle order before being dismissed in 70.3 overs.
Steve Smith top scored for Australia with 48. West Indies quick Shamar Joseph finished with 4-33, the pick of the home bowlers, while Jayden Seales and Justin Greaves took three wickets each.
"Every pitch has been tough. The more balls you spend in the middle you hope it gets better but it just hasn't been the case," Cameron Green told broadcasters.
"It's a bit of a grind first time with these balls, but a lot of learnings. Time in the middle is key – just trying to get used to their bowlers, their conditions.
"Very happy with our position (in this Test). We wanted to give them a tricky last 45 minutes. To get them one down is crucial, and we'll wait and see what happens tomorrow." REUTERS

Norway's Grainger facing Gaupset selection dilemma ahead of Italy clash

Norway forward Signe Gaupset's two goals and two assists in their final group game against Iceland have given coach Gemma Grainger a lot to ponder ahead of their quarter-final clash with Italy at the Women's Euros in Geneva on Wednesday. With the group already won, the 20-year-old replaced Guro Reiten on the left side of the attack and seized the opportunity, scoring twice and teeing up Frida Maanum for two more goals leading to calls from fans for Gaupset to start. "With Signe, the Iceland performance, that wasn't so much of a surprise to any of us. We see Signe training every day and that's how she is," Grainger told reporters, remaining tight-lipped about her plans. "With the rest of the team, the competitiveness has been really high and for me as a manager that's exactly the position that I want to be in, and it's a position that I want the team to be in also." The Norwegians have appeared to be in high spirits at their training base on the shore of Lake Neuchatel, with the players laughing and joking and signing autographs for fans. However, captain Ada Hegerberg, who recently spoke to Reuters about her will to inspire at the tournament, said that the chance of a spot in the last four is a huge opportunity for her side. "It's an incredibly big moment for us. We have had a very good energy, the whole team. Everyone has contributed," Hegerberg, who played in Norway's 2013 final defeat by Germany, told reporters. Kolisi back for Springboks as trio to debut against Georgia

Captain Siya Kolisi will make his first appearance of the season for South Africa following a return from injury as the Springboks include three debutants for the one-off test against Georgia in Nelspruit on Saturday. Kolisi will play at flanker alongside Pieter-Steph du Toit and number eight Cobus Wiese, as the latter takes over from his brother Jasper, who was suspended for four matches following a red card in the 45-0 win over Italy last Saturday. Eben Etzebeth returns to the side with Ruan Nortje in the second row, while props Boan Venter and Neethling Fouche make their debuts for the four-time Rugby World Cup winners. Marnus van der Merwe is at hooker in an all-new front row. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is back at flyhalf along with scrumhalf Grant Williams, who was outstanding against the Italians. Damian de Allende and Canan Moodie are the centre pairing. Kurt-Lee Arendse and Edwill van der Merwe feature on the wing, with Aphelele Fassi returning to the side at fullback. Coach Rassie Erasmus has now used 46 players in three fixtures so far this season as he continues to build depth within the squad. "We wanted to make sure that Siya is 100% fit before selecting him, so it's great to have him back in the squad, while Boan, Marnus, and Neethling have been training hard and deserve their chance," Erasmus said. "Building squad depth has been one of our pillars as a squad since 2018, and they are all undoubtedly ready to make the step up." The Springboks have met Georgia twice before, the pool stages of the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia where they won 46-19 and in Pretoria in 2021 when they registered a 40-9 victory. Switzerland cancel training session ahead of Spain clash due to illness

OBERENTFELDEN, Switzerland - Switzerland's preparations for their Women's Euro quarter-final clash with Spain were thrown into disarray on Tuesday when the team had to cancel a training session due to sickness within the squad. Less than half an hour before the session was due to begin, the Swiss football association messaged media covering the team on WhatsApp to say that it had been cancelled. "Today's planned training session has been postponed until tomorrow. The background: In the past few days, some players have felt the symptoms of a cold," the message said. "In order to ensure a high-quality training programme, the technical staff have decided to give today off and complete the training session planned for today tomorrow. We apologise for the short notice." The hosts, who came second in Group A to make the knockout stage, are set to meet reigning world and Nations League champions Spain in their last-eight clash in Bern on Friday. REUTERS
