A Green Gift: Why Indoor Plants Are the Perfect Present in Times of Rising Prices

A Green Gift: Why Indoor Plants Are the Perfect Present in Times of Rising Prices

Pasant Elzaitony
When visiting friends or family, many people wonder what gift to bring. Flowers and chocolates are often the first choices. But in today's world, where prices are skyrocketing globally, flowers have become extremely expensive, and chocolates are now priced like gold. That's why a potted green plant has become the ideal gift.
This choice is not only practical and thoughtful but is also backed by numerous studies confirming that indoor plants boost positive energy, dispel negative vibes, and act as a natural source of oxygen, refreshing the air inside the home.
Recent research also shows that plants can feel and respond to their owners—they grow better when gently touched by human hands.
So, how do you choose the right plant to give as a gift? And how do you care for it at home?
You can opt for small plants like Pothos, which is easy to care for and thrives in indoor spaces with minimal sunlight. Or you may prefer larger plants that also do well indoors, such as the Monstera.
Large Indoor Plants
Larger plants have the advantage of adapting easily to indoor living. They don't require intensive care. It's important, however, to provide simple natural fertilizers, such as banana peels soaked in water for four hours, and then use that water to nourish the soil.
A key tip when repotting: choose a slightly larger pot—not one that is too wide. Overly spacious pots can affect the plant's stability and growth.
Why Choose Monstera?
The Monstera is known for its large, dramatic leaves. The name is derived from 'monster,' due to the size of its foliage. It's a strong, hardy plant that tolerates both under- and over-watering, making it ideal for busy people or beginners.
The Golden Tip
Plants love to be touched and cared for. Gently touching their leaves from time to time helps them flourish. It's also recommended to wipe the leaves using a soft cloth dipped in water with a little white vinegar to clean their surface and keep them looking healthy and beautiful.
Whether you're visiting a friend or simply want to bring life into your own home, a green plant in a pot is a gift that lasts—and grows—with time.

Your Guide to Thriving Greenery Despite the Heat

Pasant Elzaitony As summer arrives and temperatures rise, indoor plants face significant challenges such as dehydration, yellowing leaves, and slow growth. While houseplants bring beauty and a calming presence to any space, they require special care during the hotter months to stay healthy and vibrant. . Smart Watering is Key One of the most common summer mistakes is overwatering, assuming that heat equals constant thirst. In reality, each plant has different needs. The golden rule: check the soil first — if the topsoil is dry but the lower layers are still moist, wait before watering. It's best to water early in the morning or after sunset to reduce evaporation. . Avoid Direct Sunlight Intense sun can scorch delicate leaves, so it's wise to place your plants in bright areas that don't receive direct sunlight—like near a window with a sheer curtain or in well-lit corners. . Ventilation and Moderate Fertilizing Excess humidity and poor air circulation can lead to root rot and fungal growth. Ensure your space is well-ventilated, and avoid over-fertilizing during heatwaves, as most plants go into a semi-dormant state and don't absorb nutrients effectively. . Top Heat-Tolerant Houseplants If you're looking for indoor plants that thrive in summer and bring a refreshing green touch, consider these popular options: Sansevieria (Snake Plant): Extremely hardy and drought-tolerant. Zamioculcas (ZZ Plant): Low-maintenance and thrives in low light. Cacti & Succulents: Love the sun and require minimal watering. Pothos: Fast-growing and easy to care for. Aglaonema: Attractive foliage and heat-resistant. Ficus Lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig): Stylish and elegant, prefers moderate light. . Observe Your Plants Daily Changes in leaf color, drooping, or unusual spots are signs that something needs adjusting—whether it's watering, lighting, or airflow. Daily observation is the secret to keeping your plants healthy throughout the summer. . In Summary: Caring for houseplants in summer doesn't require heavy effort—just awareness and balance. By providing the right mix of water, light, and ventilation—and choosing heat-tolerant varieties—you can enjoy a lush indoor garden all season long read more 15 Ludicrous Cosplay Costumes That Will Blow You Away Watch... Coffee Corner: Circle

Rana Atef Circle. A fantastic but enigmatic word. It is more than the round-and-round shape you see in front of your eyes. It is a symbol for a lot of good as well as a lot of bad. Inspiration of the Spirit grounded the symbolism of the circle in ancient and Native American cultures. Circle is the sun. Circle is the moon. Circle is the seasons. Circle is four directions. Circle is healing. Circle is life. Is it truly a circle? Or just a cycle? Kicks off with with a rebirth in the afterlife. Black Elk said, "Everything. The power of the world does done in circles." "The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood. and it is in everything where power moves." Even in psychology, we see circles in many aspects of our lives like wheels and rings. Motion. It can refer to (Community - Unity- Growth- Inclusivity - Wholeness- Connection- Infinity). Even in religions, prayers could be done in circles. A Full circle as Loreena Mckennitt described the Sufi prayers in the mosque, after the dawn, in Ramadan, in Morocco. Now, there is a circulating question in the head? Life is a Circle? Do we live in Circle? ARE WE TRAPPED IN A CIRCLE? These thoughts could be somehow dark. But, it depends on you. You may feel that you are trapped inside your life. You may trap yourself under hundreds of nevers. Circle is a shape. It is a line. You can break it. Now, look around! Look AROUND... LooK How many circles DO YOU SEE? Focus... Circles are not bad.. But YOURS IS.. If you are trapping yourself. Turn the OO.. the circles of OOOOO to open vision. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Coffee Corner is an open space. A window. A soft place. It's for you. Those whose minds won't quiet down, whose thoughts are loud, growing louder. These pieces are not answers, they are mirrors. They are breath. They are the still voice in the room when the world won't stop spinning. I write these words not from a pedestal, but from the same place you are. Awake, wondering, remembering. If you're here, then these thoughts are for you. read more 15 Ludicrous Cosplay Costumes That Will Blow You Away Watch... Healthy Fruit & Nut Crackers Recipe

Pasant Elzaitony Crackers are a favorite snack for everyone, especially during the summer, when food cravings decrease. Crackers are an easy solution for providing healthy nutrients for adults and children alike. 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped 1 tbsp fresh thyme, finely chopped 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp nutmeg 1/8 tsp black pepper 3/4 cup dried fruit, chopped (apricots, figs, dates, raisins, cherries, etc) 3/4 cup nuts or seeds, chopped (pistachios, pecans, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, etc) 2 tsp orange or lemon zest 1 cup milk of choice (we used oat milk, but any kind works) 1/4 cup honey Preheat oven to 350˚F and line two mini loaf pans (~5 1/2' x 3 1/4') or one regular loaf pan (~8 1/2' x 4 1/2') with parchment paper. Add both flours, baking soda, salt, herbs, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, dried fruit, nuts and zest to a large mixing bowl. Stir until well combined. Stir in the milk and honey until well combined and no streaks of honey remain. Divide between the 2 mini pans (or just the 1 regular loaf pan). Bake for ~25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Let cool to room temperature, then wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours, or overnight. (You can also leave them frozen for up to 3 months, as long as they are tightly wrapped.) Remove from the freezer and preheat oven to 300˚F. Use a serrated knife to slice into 1/8' thick slices. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12 minutes, then flip each cracker over. Bake for another 12 minutes, then check for doneness. They should be golden brown and feel dry to the touch, but they may still look soft due to the fruit. Don't worry - they will crisp up as they dry! If they're not quite golden brown, flip and leave in the oven for another 3-6 minutes. Let cool completely, then enjoy! read more 15 Ludicrous Cosplay Costumes That Will Blow You Away Watch...
