Country Music Legend Calls Meeting Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Team 'Absolute Dream'
Country legend Wynonna Judd, 61, made a surprise visit to the Indiana Fever before Sunday's (July 27) game against the Chicago Sky — and she was as excited to meet the Fever players as they were to meet her.
"The squad got to meet Grammy award-winner Wynonna Judd before today's game in Chicago ❤️🎶," captioned the Fever's Instagram post on a series of photos and video of Judd posing with stars Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull.
In the video, Cunningham gives Judd a huge hug and exclaims, "You are such a star, you are awesome! How are you? Oh, don't cry!"
Then Judd can be heard saying, "No, I'm serious. I don't get excited about a lot, but this is my absolute dream."
She also got to hug and say hello to head coach Stephanie White, who can be heard saying, "Great to meet you!"On Judd's Instagram stories, she reposted the Fever's photos and wrote, "The quartet you didn't know you needed," on the photo of her alongside Clark, Cunningham and Hull.
In the comments, fans can't believe how Judd is dwarfed by the WNBA players.
"I thought Wynonna's as tall as them. She looks tiny!" wrote one fan, to which another fan replied, " I thought the same thing. Players look like giants next to her. I googled it… Wynonna is 5'5'."
"Smooth voice and splash sisters! Love to see it," wrote a third fan.
A fourth fan, "SWEET!!!! My favorite Redhead with my favorite ballers in the world!!!!! Love this!!!!!"
"This is SO AWESOME!! Four amazing, talented women right there! Go Fever and have a blast Wy !!," wrote a fifth fan.
The Fever beat the Sky 93-78 on the back of Kelsey Mitchell's 35 points and six assists; Mitchell has been stepping way up in Clark's absence as Clark battles injuries this season. The Fever have improved to 14-12 on the year.

Sophie Cunningham fined $1,500 for blasting WNBA refs on first podcast episode
Fever's Sophie Cunningham has had her fair share of fines levied upon her by the WNBA. Tuesday was no different. After her first episode of her new podcast 'Show Me Something' aired on July 30, it was announced on Tuesday that the league fined her $ 1,500 for the comments against the referees. 'They're just so inconsistent, like that's one thing. If you're on the other team, and you're going to be fouling the f–k out of me, cool. But let me do it to you.' Cunningham said. 'I think players across the league, and new fans across the country are like, what is going on with the refs? And I'm like, 'I don't know.' And you fining me $500 is not going to do s–t.' Advertisement Cunningham even joked after saying these comments that the league would fine her again. She was proven right. But this was not the first time she had criticized the refs on social media of late. Advertisement Cunningham on TikTok lip-sang to Sabrina Carpenter's 'Manchild' and used references to call some WNBA refs stupid, slow, and useless. NBAE via Getty Images This forced the league to give her a $500 fine, her first, for criticizing the referees. Cunningham bit back at the league on this ruling with a post on social media. Advertisement 'This is funny to me…like, ok, you got it, bud! Cause there's not more important things to be worried about with our league right now.' Cunningham said. Though these fines have slowed her pay, they have had little effect on the Fever's overall performance. Getty Images Coming into Tuesday's matchup with the Sparks, the Fever are on a five-game winning streak, starting just one day after Cunningham's first fine and with star, Caitlin Clark still out with an injury

Chicago Sky Veteran Refuses to Blame Coach Tyler Marsh After 38-Point Blowout
Chicago Sky Veteran Refuses to Blame Coach Tyler Marsh After 38-Point Blowout originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh had some pretty strong words for his players after their 95-57 home loss to the Seattle Storm on Thursday night. The rookie coach did not hesitate in calling out the squad for a lack of fight in what turned out to be their worst loss of the season. Some blame has to be pinned on the coach after a team loses by 38 points. Sky veteran Elizabeth Williams, however, isn't willing to point the finger at Marsh after Thursday's humiliating defeat. Instead, the 6-foot-3 center-forward decided to criticize the team's overall performance against the Storm. "It's starts with us,' she said, via Sky beat reporter Karli Bell on X. 'I don't think it's anything Tyler's doing, to be honest with you. "We haven't executed. We haven't taken care of the ball. We have to be better to be frank." It would be easy to turn on each other and pin the blame after such a devastating loss, but the fact that Williams, who is considered to be one of the veteran voices on the squad, has come out to defend Marsh speaks volumes. The Sky might be struggling, but at least they're sticking together. What's Next for the Sky? Chicago will get a chance to make amends on Sunday as it hosts the Indiana Fever in a highly anticipated rivalry showdown. Angel Reese sat out Thursday's blowout loss with a back issue, but it seems like she should be ready to go come Sunday. As for the Fever, they are likely to be without Caitlin Clark as the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year continues to nurse a lingering groin injury. At this point, it appears that fans will need to wait a little longer before the next chapter of the Reese-Clark rivalry unfolds. Unfortunate Angel Reese News Sparks Concern on Thursday
Unfortunate Angel Reese News Sparks Concern on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky fell to the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night, 103–86, dropping to 7–19 on the season and putting them firmly on the outside looking in as they hope to make a legitimate run over the final 18 games to get back into postseason contention. After missing the previous two games, star forward Angel Reese returned and didn't miss a beat, tallying 22 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. However, ahead of Friday's home showdown against the Golden State Valkyries, some unfortunate news emerged: Reese has already been ruled 'out' with a back injury—the same issue that sidelined her against both the Indiana Fever and Seattle Storm. Reese will be out alongside Ariel Atkins (leg), who has missed the last five games. Meanwhile, Hailey Van Lith (ankle) and Michaela Onyenwere (knee) are currently listed as questionable. Fans reacted to the Reese being ruled out on Friday: "at this point let her rest until she is ready!! its not worth it on her body man," a fan said. Someone else added, "Why did Tyler make her play Tuesday? She should take all the time she needs to heal." Another person wrote, "let her sit and don't let her up until she is better!!! y'all will not give her a permanent injury. " "It makes no sense to continue to play her if she has an issue with her back. They're not going to make the playoffs, so allow her time to heal," One more fan commented. Reese has had a stellar season with the Sky from a statistical standpoint, earning her second consecutive All-Star selection. However, much like her rookie campaign, individual success hasn't translated into wins. The Sky finished 13–27 last season, and unless they turn things around quickly, they appear to be on a similar trajectory this year. The former LSU star is averaging 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 44.4% from the field and 79.0% from the free-throw line. In games that Reese has missed during her two seasons in the WNBA, the Sky are just 1–8. They'll now face a 12–13 Golden State Valkyries team on story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 31, 2025, where it first appeared.
