Promising review: "This product is amazing! It makes cleaning so much easier and takes way less time! I used to hate cleaning my baseboards, but this product has made cleaning it so easy that I actually don't mind doing it anymore! It is also great for blinds as well! Definitely worth it!" — Julia

I hate taking my large vacuum out to the car, pulling it this way and that, just trying to do a good job. When I came across this wonderful little vacuum, I ordered it. I love it. First it is little and light, but don't let that fool you. It cleans my car in no time, and with that 16-foot cable, I could also clean my trunk without a bit of trouble. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like to clean my car, but I don't hate it anymore. It does a wonderful job." — Coco

Promising review:"Necessary tool to clean your cast iron pots and pans. Perfectly contoured to the rounded corners used by Lodge in their pans, so you'll get any food stuck to your pan off easily. The plastic is sturdy and malleable but not so much that it will deform. Been using them for a couple months now, and I haven't had them break. And since I still can't get a properly seasoned coating on my pans, I have a lot of food that sticks (my fault), but these scrapers get pretty much everything off easily." — JGtz

Promising review: "Between myself (medium long hair) and my overly fluffy cat, a lot of hair and fluff was continually getting caught up on the roller brush of my vacuum. I dreaded vacuuming because it took so long to pull and snip the hairs wrapped up on the roller brush out with scissors. Not anymore! This silly, little, inexpensive thing works great! Super quick to remove all the hair/fur — in virtually a minute, then back to vacuuming with my lovely Miele vacuum." — MKS

www.amazon.com
Promising review:"I have a 19-year-old master bathroom toilet that had accumulated some nasty stains over time that regular toilet brushes and cleaning products just would not remove. I decided to try this pumice stone, figuring that the worst that could happen would be that it scratched the porcelain, and I'd have to replace the toilet. Which was what I would have had to do anyway if I couldn't get the disgusting stains out. The pumice stone worked like a charm! Given the nature and severity of the stains, it required some elbow grease, but 10 minutes later, I have a new-looking bowl, and I see no signs of scratching. I am very happy with this purchase...well worth the very low price!" — Happy Retiree

www.amazon.com
Promising review:"I HATE cleaning my oven, and this is evident by the fact that I won't do it until it fills up with smoke when baking. I bought new appliances, and I was meticulous about keeping the stove/oven clean by not using them. Well, when you're a mom, that kind of doesn't work, so I made sure to not have anything splash on the stove or in the oven when cooking and to immediately clean anything that got by me. That also only lasts so long when I work long hours, so I used to tell myself, "You'll clean it tomorrow." As you all know, that's code for someday. Weeks went by, and my stove needed cleaning, and I found the handy self-cleaning button. Let me tell you, that worked....the first time. I needed professional help the second time, so of course, I put that off until I couldn't. Got on Amazon, and as I always do, I read the product description and instructions and then went straight to reviews on multiple self-proclaimed "best oven cleaners". This one was the one I decided to put my hard-earned money on, and it paid off! I sprayed everything the night before, and I was ready with my gloves and mask, but I didn't need them. There was no splash back when spraying and no overwhelming smell. Got up the next day, opened the oven, and 30 minutes later, it was brand new. I was so happy, and this is my go-to. I use it about once a month and do the self-clean in between. I've used it on the racks of my little toaster oven as well and the grime comes right off. I've included a before and after cause, I know pictures are worth a thousand words." — Sandra Stephens
Get it from Amazon for $8.98.
13. A no-scrub Wet & Forget weekly shower cleaner that's every lazy cleaner's biggest dream come true: there's literally zero scrubbing required. It'll stop soap scum and residue from forming before they have a chance to take over your entire tub. Just spray, walk away, and rinse 8-12 hours later — your future self will be so grateful.
www.amazon.com
There's no bleach or ammonia, so no need to worry about any scent-induced headaches.
Promising review:"I saw this product on TikTok and decided to try it out for myself. The name doesn't lie — spray it on, shut the bathroom door, and in a few hours, the shower is 100 times cleaner. Usually, I'll let it sit overnight, and by morning, the visible grime on the shower is gone, including soap scum. I'll usually let the shower water rinse the residue out and then will take a bucket just to get everything off the shower walls. It is a bit slick if you try to get in the shower without rinsing the residue, but otherwise, it's a worthy cleaning staple in my house." — Tara D.
Get it from Amazon for $19.39+ (available in two scents and two sizes).
14. A tub of magical heavy-duty all-purpose cleaning wipes — they can remove everything from grease to ink stains almost instantly and with zero water required. www.amazon.com
These wipes are non-abrasive, so they're safe to use on smooth surfaces like car exteriors, vinyl, baseboards, and more.
Promising review:"I have a small kitchen, and everything tends to get an oily, greasy film on it very quickly. I don't have a tile backsplash or a range hood, and my fridge is right next to my stove, so the paint on the wall and the textured fridge get pretty disgusting. The tiniest little oil splatter seems to cover my whole kitchen. When these wipes arrived yesterday, I attacked my kitchen with them. They worked amazingly well! I didn't realize how much grease was really sticking to everything until I saw how disgusting the wipes were getting. Luckily, they're huge, so I was able to cover a lot before I needed a new one. I have very sensitive skin, and these didn't dry my hands out at all. I also get severe migraines, which are easily triggered by chemical smells, and these have a nice, lemony scent that didn't trigger me at all. 10 stars!" — Michele West
Get a 90-pack from Amazon for $14.98.
15. A powerful spray to break down stubborn mold and mildew stains that seem to accumulate overnight. Just leave it on for about 15 seconds, then wipe away to reveal what your shower is actually supposed to look like.
Promising review:"Hi. So, like everyone else, I'm skeptical of products even with decent reviews. But I was looking for something to clean a small walk-in shower that was getting a little bit of mildew and whatever, so I gave this stuff a shot. It arrived this morning, and I immediately sprayed a little bit on the part with the biggest problem. I didn't have much hope, but I thought it might work a little bit; literally, 12 minutes later, it was gone. I was absolutely amazed. I sprayed the rest of the shower, and it's literally gone. I didn't scrub a thing, although if you wanted to a little bit for tight corners or small spaces in between grout, I'm sure it would clean right up. I've got to tell you, I've shot infomercials for over 25 years. A lot of the products we shoot are crap. This product deserves an infomercial, and frankly, I would do it on live TV. Because it really works." — Brook B.
Get it from Amazon for $15.99+ (available in four sizes and a two-pack).

I used this and within one application it is bright, shiny, white again! If this hadn't worked, I was planning to remove all the caulking and start over. This saved me hours of work. There are some things that make you satisfied every time you look at it. This is one of them." — Planetary Drive

Promising review: "Wow. Don't waste your time with any other formulation that you found online. I've literally tried EVERYTHING! The soap/vinegar/baking soda, the expensive store bought 'hard water cleaners.' I've scrubbed for HOURS! But this…. This product is like magic. It's kind of like a paste that you can rub on with a microfiber towel, and the hard water stains literally just RUB OFF. Like butter! Seriously the easiest option I have tried yet. I stopped within the first five minutes of cleaning to do this review because I'm in shock lol. Coming from someone who never writes reviews! Take that as a sign to buy this immediately. Promising review:"Finally! A product that does not leave a sticky film on my furniture. I love this product. It rubs in easily and buffs to a natural shine. The wood is left looking healthy and with a natural glow, not a heavy fake glossy polish. And best of all, there is no residue. The smell is pleasant and dissipates quickly. Just use it in a 'scrubbing' type motion and it catches and traps the fur (and other small debris, such as crumbs...) in the little compartment. Pop it open, empty it out. Done." — Ian K.

Promising review:"This is an excellent product. I have tried several grout cleaners over the past 15 years since the majority of our flooring has been ceramic tile. This product surpassed all of them. In fact, nothing has ever worked this quickly. The three best features included (1) the instructions on both the bottle and with the product were clear, and I followed them to a tee, (2) the perfect brush that came with it that fit perfectly into my grout lines and was easy to attach to an existing handle and (3) how easily the soil was removed from the grout. I would recommend using this around one tile first and definitely wait 10 minutes, then wiggle the brush in the grout lines. The soil comes up quickly." — Karen

But just a few minutes spent mashing this slime into all the cracks and crevices of my keyboard, mouse, phone, etc., and it's all clean as can be! This stuff picks up dirt on contact and leaves behind a clean, no smell, no residue surface. I bought a second jar for my vehicle and it works miracles in there as well. My air vents, shifter, and seats are now spotless. I couldn't be happier with this product." — Jenna75

34. A bottle of Hope's Perfect sink cleaner and polish to make any stainless steel, cast-iron, porcelain, or acrylic appliance as shiny as the day you got it. Just apply with a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse away with soapy water!

Promising review:"Every once in a while you stumble on a product on Amazon that you buy on a whim because of the good reviews. When you actually receive the product and use it, you can't believe how good it really is. This is definitely one of those products. Truth be told, the stainless steel sink in my house is 14 years old. While we have cleaned the sink thoroughly every two weeks since we moved in, we have never polished it or used a product such as this one. The first time I applied it to the sink, we could tell that there was an amazing difference. In fact, the sink sparkled so brightly from the overhead kitchen can lights, it really was too bright to view! You can tell that this product is 'doing its job' because a black film comes off of the stainless steel after you clean it." — From Wyoming to California via NYC

35. A screen-cleaning brush, because what good is a window if you can't even see out of it?! If your windows need a good deep cleaning, you can wet this with soap and water to break down stubborn grime. Then use it dry once you see any dirt start to accumulate.

Promising review: "Our screens are on a second-floor balcony. There really isn't any good way to clean the outside of the screens. Luckily, the fibers on this screen cleaner are small enough that they seem to fit through the screen and clean both sides. I'm sure it doesn't clean the outside as well as it does the inside, but any help is always appreciated. I was actually shocked at how much dirt came off of the screens with this very simple tool. I used it wet with a small amount of dish soap, and it worked really well. I also appreciated that after I was finished I was just easily able to rinse and dry the screen cleaner for future use. A simple tool at an excellent price." — BonjourBeautyByAmy

I completely upgraded my car videos with the help of this magnetic phone mount — and it's under $20

I've tested many of the best electric cars in the last year, but the one thing I constantly use to help me shoot video is a car phone mount. Lately, I've switched from using one of those electric vacuum phone mounts that uses a motor to stick onto my windshield to a more low-tech one — and it's changed the way I shoot car videos. The Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount doesn't have anything fancy about it. In fact, it has a suction cup on one end and a MagSafe mount on the other. But don't be fooled by this handy car accessory because it's both one of the most reliable car phone mounts I've used and the one with the most utility. Best of all, it's under $20 right now. It's definitely one of the best car phone mounts I've used. Quickly connect or remove the Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount to just about any surface thanks to its incredible suction power and easy removal. The MagSafe mount holds your phone in place, while allowing you to easily adjust its angle for shooting video or using your phone as a dash cam. For a limited time, you can get the Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount with a 33% off instant discount that brings its price from $29 down to $19. Amazon also has a promotion going on right now where you can get it for free when you add the Lisen Electric Retractable Car Phone Mount along with the Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount. At checkout, you'll see a $19.99 off discount — so you're technically paying only $37 for both gadgets. What I really like about the Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount is how easy it is to fasten to different surfaces in my car. With a quick slide of the lock, it stays secure in place without having to rely on other adhesives. The suction cup is made of this sticky material, but doesn't leave the residue that typically comes from other adhesives. At the same time, it's a breeze to remove. When you're shooting several videos all at different angles as much as I do, it's nice to have a car phone mount that can quickly adapt — and the Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount does exactly that. Whether I'm sticking it to the front windshield or dangling it off the glass roof, it never loses its suction. Thanks to its magnetic mount, I'm able to use my iPhone 16 Pro Max (or any other phones with a MagSafe case on) without worry it'll fall off. I've paired the Lisen Suction Cup Phone Mount with flip-style phones like the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 to capture amazing shots while I'm driving. The amount of utility it provides beats all other car phone mounts I've used to date. Plus, it doesn't require charging like other electric car phone mounts. ‘Instead of Paying $300:' Woman Buys Toyota. Then She Buys Keyfob for $12 Off Amazon and Programs It Herself

Programming a key fob isn't just for pros with diagnostic tools, service bays, and a high hourly rate. Just ask TikToker Reign (@luhtizz), the owner of a new-to-her Toyota Camry Solara who tackled the key fob job herself, and earned plenty of views and admiration for her budget-friendly fix. In the clip, which has been viewed more than 156,000 times, she shares that some smarts and a $12 Amazon purchase saved her a $300 trip to the locksmith. Why Key Fobs Are so Expensive If you've ever had to replace a lost or broken key fob, you already know the sticker shock. Depending on the make and model, a new key fob can cost anywhere from $150 to $600 to replace and program. Why so pricey? Several reasons. Security Tech: Today's fobs do a lot more than lock and unlock. Many contain rolling codes, proximity sensors, and immobilizer chips that talk to your car's electronic control unit to prevent theft . Dealer-Only Tools: Especially in newer models, key fob programming often requires manufacturer-specific diagnostic software that only dealers or certified locksmiths can access. Labor Fees: Even if the part itself is $150, dealerships typically charge additional labor to program the fob—sometimes totaling over $400, particularly for push-to-start systems or luxury brands. While mobile locksmiths can sometimes offer lower rates, availability and pricing vary by location, and they, too, often rely on expensive programming equipment. Why This DIY Fix Worked The Toyota Solara featured in the video is part of a generation of vehicles available from the early to mid-2000s that still allowed owners to program their own key fobs without special tools. Models like the 2004-2008 Solara used a simple key-cycle method to pair a new remote: Insert and remove the key multiple times. Open and close the driver's door. Press buttons on the fob during a specific sequence. This process, once documented in Toyota owner manuals and enthusiast forums, bypasses the need for dealership intervention altogether. DIY guides for these vehicles are still readily available on sites like Toyota Nation and YouTube . While the TikTok clip doesn't capture the programming process, the owner likely followed a well-documented sequence used by many early-to-mid 2000s Toyota vehicles. The process typically begins with the driver seated in the car with all doors closed. From there, the key is inserted and removed from the ignition in a specific pattern—often twice in quick succession—followed by opening and closing the driver's door multiple times. After repeating this sequence, the key is inserted again and left in the ignition. At this point, pressing a button on the new fob usually completes the pairing, triggering the vehicle's receiver to recognize and store the remote. Toyota models of that era commonly supported this DIY-friendly method and remain widely shared in online forums and YouTube tutorials by enthusiasts who've successfully replicated it. This kind of non-transponder remote pairing is only possible on older vehicles, especially those not equipped with smart keys or push-button start systems. Risks of DIY Key Fob Programming While the viral clip highlights an impressive DIY success, the reality is that this kind of fix doesn't work for most modern vehicles, especially those manufactured after 2015. In newer models, key fob programming is often integrated with complex electronic security systems that require specialized diagnostic tools. These tools are often proprietary and accessible only to authorized dealerships or certified locksmiths who pay for original equipment manufacturer programming credentials. The rise of encrypted transponders and proximity-based systems has made do-it-yourself fob programming virtually impossible for most late-model vehicles. Even when a vehicle supports some level of DIY programming, it comes with risks. Entering the wrong sequence or using incompatible hardware can cause the car's electronic control unit to become stuck in a 'learning' or locked state, potentially rendering the vehicle inoperable until it's reset professionally. This can lead to unexpected towing or dealership fees, precisely the kinds of expenses DIYers are trying to avoid. There's also the issue of fob quality. While Amazon and eBay are full of affordable key fob replacements, many of these aftermarket options are hit or miss . Some units may lack the correct transponder chip, making them incompatible with the vehicle's immobilizer. Others may function initially but degrade quickly due to inferior components. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has raised concerns about counterfeit or poorly cloned key fobs that may compromise vehicle security or fail to meet industry standards. Security experts have also flagged additional vulnerabilities. Cheap replacement fobs without proper encryption can open the door for techniques like relay attacks or signal spoofing , which allow thieves to trick the vehicle into thinking the fob is nearby. Slate shows its bare-bones, ‘mid-$20s' EV truck at Detroit summit

DETROIT - Slate Auto, the Michigan electric vehicle startup backed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has publicly touted a starting price for its pickup of "under $20,000" since coming out of stealth mode in April. But that was before President Donald Trump's big tax and domestic policy bill was signed into law on July 4, halting the $7,500 tax credit for EV buyers by the end of September. Now, Slate CEO Chris Barman said in Detroit this week, the starting price will be in "mid-$20s" when the two-seater trucks ideally start rolling off the line at a facility in Warsaw, Indiana, late next year. "Our business model was never built upon that tax credit being in place," Barman told The Detroit News at the Reindustrialize summit, a gathering of executives and policy experts focused on bringing manufacturing back to the United States. Slate showed off one of its vehicles at the summit. "We always viewed it as something that would be great for the customer to be able to get an even more affordable vehicle. But we've always, you know, had a target of being priced in the mid-$20s, and that's what our business case has been built upon," she said. Still, the company had widely touted the sub-$20,000 price tag upon its launch. TechCrunch reported that the carmaker stopped promoting that figure on its website once Republicans' "One Big Beautiful Bill" passed at the start of the month. A mid-$20s price tag would put the stripped-down EV truck in line with a number of entry-level vehicles on the road today - rather than, at the initial sub-$20,000 mark, potentially the cheapest new car out there. Slate, headquartered in Troy, has built much of its early brand on going against the grain of the auto industry's ever-increasing focus on bigger screens, more sensors and various other luxury accoutrements. A hype video Barman showed to Reindustrialize attendees noted that "cars are getting bigger, fancier and more expensive, because of ... stuff." Chief Commercial Officer Jeremy Snyder pointed out at an April launch that the average new car payment tops $700 per month and that many new cars face frequent warranty issues due to being packed with so much technology. "The industry has abandoned the majority of Americans," he said. Slate says it will offer a basic truck with only a few standard features, including air conditioning, cruise control and rear and forward-facing cameras. Much more can be customized later by the owner - items like additional speakers, colorful wraps and a DIY conversion kit to turn the little pickup into a five-seat SUV. "By eliminating the complexities of build configurations as well as a paint shop, we passed savings back to the customer without cutting corners," Barman said in a presentation. She said Slate's idea has quickly gained traction, with more than 100,000 people so far placing a $50 reservation. The startup is also advertising that the truck will be America-made at a moment when there is increasing interest in domestic manufacturing with Trump's tariff policies. The company is converting an old printing press facility in Warsaw, population 16,000, into its assembly site and expects to eventually employ close to 2,000 people. "We're still doing quite a bit of demolition" on the interior of the production site, Barman told The News. "We're gonna be, within the next few weeks, starting to get into laying in some floors where we had to take (them out) because the depth of the cement there wasn't enough for the equipment we put in. So we're really putting a lot of infrastructure in right now." Barman said her company aims to source parts domestically wherever possible, with a number of suppliers so far based in the Midwest. But some parts for the truck simply can't be found in the United States anymore, the CEO said, like the truck's manual-crank window regulator, which is sourced from Brazil. She said Slate sees itself as drawing in customers who would otherwise only be considering used cars, which on average sell for about what the Slate truck aims to retail for, in the mid-$20,000s. "We're going to be pulling from the whole 35 million used vehicle (market)," Barman said, where shoppers figured they may be forced to settle for fewer safety standards and no warranty. "Now, they can step into a vehicle that has all the latest safety standards, comes with a warranty. It's an EV, so repairs will be lower because there's less parts to maintain in the vehicle, and it can grow with them. ... If they can't afford to make it an SUV when they first buy it, a year later, two years later, they can then change it out." Several EV startups have gone bankrupt or faced dire financial straits in over the last year as demand for the vehicles hasn't met expectations and funding has dried up. Even established players like Tesla Inc., Rivian Automotive Inc. and Lucid Group Inc. face headwinds, especially now that the tax credit is ending. Slate, though, is pushing ahead and advertises almost 100 open positions on its website in Michigan, Indiana and elsewhere. The startup has drawn attention from more established automotive players because of its Bezos connection and its focus on being cheap and customizable. "It was really interesting seeing that (Slate truck) out there," Paul Stephens, Ford Motor Co.'s global strategy manager, said on a panel at the Reindustrialize summit. "Complexity reduction is one thing, and part-count reduction is another thing too. So when we're looking at future product designs, trying to reduce the number of components while keeping the same task, is one of the top priority items that I've been seeing, and not just at Ford but the industry at large." And Tim Kuniskis, the CEO of the Ram truck brand who also oversees other U.S. Stellantis NV brands, recently called Slate's approach "super interesting" during a press event. "The idea behind it, you know, we've talked about that idea a million times. Super interesting. I give (Barman) a lot of credit," he said. "It's a cool idea. Now what's it going to actually transact at in the marketplace where the tax credits are gone and people start to option them up? It's not going to be $20,000. It's going to be $35,000, and by the time you get to $35,000, you're in midsize truck territory." Copyright (C) 2025, Tribune Content Agency, LLC. Portions copyrighted by the respective providers.
