Green Day frontman lets fan play song with him – but instantly regrets it
With Oasis gearing up for their first gig in 16 years this Friday (July 4) in Cardiff, one fan couldn't contain his excitement, even at a Green Day show. Noel and Liam Gallagher buried the hatchet last year and will embark on a world tour over the coming months.
Meanwhile, Green Day, who are currently on a global jaunt of their own, performed in The Netherlands, Belgium, and Greece this week. At each gig on their tour, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong invites a fan to strum the acoustic guitar whilst he sings their 1997 classic, 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)'. A TikTok video captured the moment a young fan was given Armstrong's guitar during the Luxembourg show on Monday.
After a handshake and a confident start, the fan faltered, prompting Armstrong to question, "What's wrong? You don't know any more?", and then helpfully calling out the chords.
Armstrong, still smiling, encouraged him with "You told me you could play this!" only for the fan to suddenly and unexpectedly switch to playing 'Wonderwall' by Oasis.
The audience erupted into laughter, but Armstrong was less amused as he shook his head in disbelief and reclaimed his guitar.
"Please don't send him hate guys, it's just silly, he's a kid," TikTok user @ro_cocoa implored after sharing the video. "The Wonderwall of it all."
Offering an explanation for Armstrong's apparent frustration, one person explained: "Noel has said in the past that Green Day ripped off Wonderwall so that's probably why he reacted like that."
Another joked: "That was the time of his life... He will never get the chance to show Armstrong a great song again."
A third person added: "He knew he was being cheeky by doing that, he deserves Billie's reaction."
While a fourth exclaimed on TikTok: "Billie should have took the joke and started singing."
The clip later made its way to X, catching the attention of Liam Gallagher himself, with the the Oasis frontman quiping: "Best song of the night."
Earlier today (July 2), Oasis annouced the forthcoming release of deluxe new formats of their iconic second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - with unplugged versions of five iconic tracks that have previously gone unreleased.
The move celebrates the era-defining record's landmark 30-year anniversary, one of the reasons it is thought the Gallagher brothers have also decided to play to together again at last.

A flight attendant has revealed the 'disgusting' hygiene habit passengers skip before boarding. Dallas-based air hostess Cher Killough, who has worked in the industry for five years, recently took to TikTok to call out bad in-flight etiquette - and took aim at people who don't shower before early flights in particular. Branding this behavior as 'unacceptable' in her TikTok, Cher revealed she thinks travelers should 'go to prison' for not showering before getting on a plane. In the clip, she said: 'There is zero reason that I should be smelling a stranger's body odour radiating off of their warm body at five o'clock in the morning. 'And it's always men, sometimes it's ladies who are having a lady problem that nobody told them about, but usually it's men. She added: 'Wash yourself! You are going to be shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Show up clean or don't come at all.' Elsewhere Cher revealed another annoying habit is when people play music and other noises out loud on their phones or iPad. She said: 'It's no one else's problem except yours that you didn't charge your earpods or you didn't bring headphones. 'Why are you making it everyone else's problem around you, Jail! 'It's just unacceptable. 'It's always the shortest ones that are doing it!' she continued. 'I'm 5ft 8in, so if I'm taking up just my seat section, then you as a little 5ft 6in man can definitely do the same.' Cher also claimed that 'smelling like anything' during a flight was inconsiderate to other passengers. 'It's already an environment where people are prone to getting nauseous, so having an extra fragrance on top of that is just not a good mix. 'But if I had to pick one, I would definitely choose someone's perfume over someone's body odor over because we get that sometimes,' she clarified. Lastly, Cher added, taking off your shoes and walking around the plane barefoot was a big no-no. 'You seriously need to go to jail if you are having your bare toes out when you go to the bathroom,' she continued. 'I see this all the time and it should be against the law and in general I don't want to see your bare feet at all. Wear shoes or wear socks.' The clip, which racked up over 7,000 views, was captioned: 'Don't get mad at the fragrance one in the cabin! Meanwhile, Mark, 38, has been friends with Arg, 37, for years and is still said to be close to the wedding singer, who insisted he was "devastated" after pleading guilty to domestic violence charges against Nicoline two months ago. In a show of solidarity, it now looks like the telly star still has the support of his pal after the pair appeared to enjoy a family trip away together last month when Mark's sister, Natalya, posted a TikTok video, which included a shot of Arg on a sun lounger with the caption: "Spend the day with me, holiday edition."
