Trump privately discussing plans to host G20 at his Doral resort, White House official says

President Donald Trump is quietly discussing plans to host the 2026 G20 summit, a forum of the world's largest economies, at his Doral golf club in the Miami area, a White House official told CNN. The idea has been discussed for weeks, the official said. CNN previously spotted an aide carrying a 'G20 Miami 2026' sign into the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in June. Bloomberg first reported on the proposed plans. Trump had previously planned to host a G7 summit at his Miami-area resort in 2020 during his first term, but ultimately reversed course after facing widespread outrage over the decision to host the major gathering of world leaders at his own property. At the time, the president called the criticism his administration was facing 'Irrational Hostility,' and wrote, 'I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders.' Officials had argued that using Doral would be 'significantly cheaper' than other options. They also said the event would run 'at cost,' meaning without any profit by the Trump property. In the end, the onset of the coronavirus scrapped any need for a physical venue, and the leaders met over video conference. The current discussions regarding the 2026 G20 summit raise similar questions of potential conflicts of interest. Critics have in the past accused Trump of violating the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which restricts the president from accepting gifts and money from foreign governments. In his first term, Democrats cried foul at Trump's Washington, DC, hotel, which became a popular destination for foreign delegations to spend money. But Trump has largely been undeterred, frequently mixing presidential and personal business. On a recent trip abroad, he visited two golf properties bearing his name: Trump Turnberry, then Trump International Scotland in Aberdeenshire, where he participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of a second 18-hole golf course on his property. The president also has made millions from his family's cryptocurrency ventures, foreign investments, private clubs and the sale of a host of Trump-branded products, according to his latest financial disclosure documents. And his administration accepted a luxury 747 jet from the government of Qatar as a 'gift' to the Defense Department. It is expected to be used by Trump as Air Force One once it is upgraded. Charlotte, NC, July 30, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fundamental Global Inc. (Nasdaq: FGF, FGFPP) (the 'Company' or 'Fundamental Global') today announced the pricing and signing of a private placement for the purchase and sale of 40,000,000 prefunded common stock warrants at a price of $5.00 (inclusive of the $0.001 exercise price) per warrant for expected aggregate gross proceeds of $200 million before deducting placement agent fees and other offering expenses (funded in a combination of cash and cryptocurrencies) to launch the Company's Ethereum treasury strategy. Fundamental Global offers investors a capital markets vehicle engineered for Ethereum - the foundation of digital finance and settlement layer for the majority of stablecoins, DeFi, and tokenized assets. The Company's structure aims to provide investors with multiple value drivers beyond ETH price appreciation, including staking rewards that support network security and access to tokenized real-world asset opportunities. The private placement saw participation from top tier global financial institutions as well as Hivemind Capital, Syncracy Capital, Digital Currency Group (DCG), and Kenetic. The Company intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to purchase ETH, which will serve as the Company's primary treasury reserve asset. In addition to its Ethereum treasury and staking strategy, the Company is in a unique position to apply its digital expertise in its merchant banking and reinsurance businesses to fuel the adoption of the Ethereum blockchain in real-world finance. As part of the transformation, the Company will rebrand as FG Nexus Inc., with new ticker symbols FGNX and FGNXP expected to go live shortly. The closing of the offering is expected to occur on or about August 1, 2025, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. Said Moglia, 'Throughout my career, I have seen foundational shifts that fundamentally alter global markets. Ethereum is the foundation layer for the next generation of financial services, and I believe that what we are creating at FG Nexus is the most strategic way for investors to not only gain access to ETH, but also participate in the future of the world's fast evolving financial system.' Kyle Cerminara, CEO and Chairman of the Company, stated, 'This marks a pivotal moment in our evolution. FG Nexus will leverage our deep capabilities in merchant banking, reinsurance, and capital markets to unlock the full potential of Ethereum as a reserve asset. We're honored to welcome Joe Moglia in an advisory capacity and thrilled to have Maja, Jose, and Theodore at the helm of our digital asset strategy. This is the future of capital allocation.' Maja Vujinovic, CEO of the Digital Asset division, added, 'Ethereum isn't just infrastructure, it's personal. As CIO of GE, I helped bring Ethereum inside one of the world's largest companies, working with Joseph Lubin, Ethereum co-founder, to explore smart contracts across a variety of business lines. That conviction hasn't changed At FG Nexus, we're building the institutional-grade rails for Ethereum treasuries, secure, transparent, yield-driven. With today marking Ethereum's 10-year anniversary, I am thrilled to be part of the next chapter in a journey that started a decade ago.' Flagler Street reopens after 40-month closure, bringing hope and frustration

After more than three years of construction delays, two blocks of Flagler Street — one of Miami's most historic roadways — have finally reopened, bringing both renewed optimism and lingering frustration to downtown residents and business owners. The project, originally launched in 2019 through a partnership between the City of Miami, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), and the Flagler Business Improvement District, aimed to modernize a five-block stretch of the century-old street. The makeover includes brick roads, widened curbless sidewalks for outdoor cafes, improved drainage, and a flexible "festival streetscape" designed to host large outdoor events. City crews reopened the first block on Saturday, followed days later by another in front of local business Bespoke Barber Pub. Owner Clara Henao celebrated the milestone. "I was so happy seeing the street open," she said. "I [said] wow. Finally the street is open. This is a plus because I think it will bring new people." With support from the DDA, Henao also secured a liquor license to add a bar to her barbershop, which she hopes will become a destination for men's grooming. Despite the recent progress, three other blocks of Flagler Street remain under construction. The project was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and additional complications from aging infrastructure beneath the street. "There have been issues getting the contractor to stay on schedule, but the city is moving forward now," said Terrell Fritz of the Flagler Business Improvement District. Condo owner Daniel Tintle expressed frustration about the prolonged construction. "I bought a condo just down the street in 2021 and my neighbor at the time says, 'Oh, you're going to love it. They're just about to reopen Flagler Street,'" he said. "It is finally opening four years after I moved in, which was multiple years after she thought it was going to open." That neighbor has since moved away, disheartened by years of barricades and slow progress. Some businesses were forced to find creative solutions to stay visible, including placing signage on scaffolding with DDA assistance. Pedestrian access also remains challenging in certain areas, and Tintle voiced concerns about homelessness in the neighborhood. "The homeless have their spots where they stay, but here they've started to really call this home," he said. "So when they start to feel comfortable, more start to come in and then you have a lot of encounters, a lot of [them] late night." Despite setbacks, DDA Chief Financial and Operating Officer Ivonne Berrios believes momentum is shifting in the right direction. "This is one of the best ways to showcase how we were able to go through all those challenges and still have the success story today of these two sections open and looking forward to the rest," Berrios said. Officials say the completion of these first two phases should have a domino effect, accelerating the reopening of the remaining three blocks in the near future.
