Wings rookie Paige Bueckers out with knee issue day after loss to Fever without Caitlin Clark
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas Wings standout rookie Paige Bueckers has been ruled out of Saturday night's home game against Washington because of a right knee issue.
Bueckers showed up on the team's game status report Saturday. There were no details about what the exact issue was a day after she scored 27 points and had six assists while playing nearly 36 1/2 minutes in the Wings' 94-86 loss to the Indiana Fever.
It will be the fifth game missed by the No. 1 pick in this year's draft. Bueckers was sidelined three games while in the WNBA's concussion protocol and then sat out because of illness the first game she was eligible to return.
In her 13 games played, Bueckers has averaged 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
Caitlin Clark, last year's WNBA Rookie of the Year, didn't play for the Fever on Friday night, missing her second consecutive game because of a left groin injury. That spoiled what was supposed to be the first meeting of the past two No. 1 picks in the draft, though the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center was still nearly full for the game.
The Wings hosted Washington at College Park Center on the UT-Arlington campus, their home arena that has a capacity of 6,251. That is about 20 miles from the AAC in downtown Dallas.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — If Candace Parker could put music to her jersey retirement ceremony, it would be 'I Did It My Way,' the Jay-Z remix of Frank Sinatra's hit. Parker's No. 3 Los Angeles Sparks jersey was raised to the rafters of Arena before Sunday's game against the Chicago Sky. After being the No. 1 pick in the 2006 WNBA draft out of Tennessee, Parker had a standout 16-year career, winning championships with three teams — the Sparks, her hometown Sky and Las Vegas. She was MVP of the WNBA Finals for LA in 2016. The 39-year-old Parker is the third Sparks player to have her jersey retired, joining Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie (No. 9) and Penny Toler (No. 11). The five-time All-Star has always had big dreams. 'I mean, what's possible,' Parker said. 'I represent coming from a family that told me I could do and be anything. I'm really proud of that kid. I think I'd do things exactly the same way because it's why I'm sitting here. I made mistakes and took two steps forward and one back, but I was always moving forward.' Parker, who wore an orange outfit as an ode to her college days, walked onto the court during the first timeout and got a standing ovation. Fans were given yellow jerseys that read 'That's our Ace' with the number 3 incorporated into the design. This was the first of two jersey retirement ceremonies for Parker. Chicago will retire her jersey later this summer. 'When I got drafted out here, it's become home,' Parker said. 'I've lived here longer than anywhere else. It's super important to see this jersey in the rafters before any others because my 13 years here were super special. It was ups, downs, wins, losses, heartaches and rewards but it's super special to share that with my teammates and coaches with an organization that bet on me with the first pick in the 2008 WNBA draft. That was a long time ago.' Parker was a two-time WNBA MVP with the Sparks, in 2008 and 2013. She's the franchise's career assists leader with 1,331 and is second in rebounds and points. She averaged 16.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists along with 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals. During her second season, Parker gave birth to a daughter. She returned to practice weeks later, and Lailaa Williams, now 16, was a welcome addition at practices and games throughout Parker's years in LA. 'Candace Parker's impact on the WNBA is immeasurable. From the moment she stepped onto the court as a rookie, winning both MVP and Rookie of the Year in the same season, she has continually redefined greatness,' WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelberg said. Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier chosen as captains of WNBA All-Star Game by fan vote
NEW YORK (AP) — Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will captain the WNBA All-Star Game next month the league announced Sunday. Clark received 1,293,526 votes from fans while Collier had about 100,000 fewer. The Indiana Fever star, who is sidelined with a groin strain, is averaging 18.2 points and a career-high 8.9 assists per game. She also led the fan voting last season, her rookie year, but the All-Star format was the U.S. Olympic team playing against a select group of WNBA stars so no captains were chosen. Collier leads the league in scoring at a career-best 24.5 points and is fourth in rebounding at 8.4 a game. The Fever and Lynx will play each other on Tuesday in the Commissioner's Cup final. The 10 starters were selected from across the WNBA without regard to conference affiliation. Current players and a media panel joined fans in selecting the All-Star starters. Fans voting accounted for 50% while the players vote and the media choices each account for 25%. The pair will draft their fellow starters from a group that will be revealed on Monday. After the starters are announced, the league's head coaches will choose the 13 reserves by voting for three guards, five frontcourt players and four from either position. Mighty PSG sets sights on another trophy with a dominating win over Messi's Inter Miami
ATLANTA (AP) — Paris Saint-Germain left no doubt it was Europe's top club with a historic victory in the Champions League. Now, PSG is intent on conquering the world. Les Rouge-et-Bleu turned in a dominating performance at the Club World Cup on Sunday, brushing aside Lionel Messi and Inter Miami with a first-half blitz that resulted in a 4-0 victory. While the European powerhouses complained mightily about having to play in the newly expanded tournament at the end of a grueling season, PSG is taking the 32-team competition seriously. Outside of a 1-0 loss to Brazilian club Botafogo in group play, PSG has won three games by a cumulative 10-0 since arriving in the United States. 'It's clear that this is a historic season for us. We intend to continue making history with this competition,' PSG coach Luis Enrique said through an interpreter. 'We're fighting to claim silverware. This season is very long for all the teams. But we're excited to be here.' PSG advanced to the quarterfinals, where it will face either Bayern Munich or Brazilian club Flamengo next Saturday in Atlanta. There was a huge buildup to the game against Messi, who played two seasons at PSG before making the move to South Florida in the twilight of his brilliant career and was facing his former coach at Barcelona.
