Xanadu Opens $10M Advanced Photonic Packaging Facility in Ontario

TORONTO, June 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ – Xanadu, a world leader in photonic quantum computing, has opened a $10M world-leading advanced photonic packaging facility in Toronto. This facility represents a significant leap in Canada's quantum supply chain resilience and technical capacity. As the only end-to-end, ultra-low loss photonic packaging facility of its kind in the country, it enables secure, domestic production of high-performance quantum components essential for building fault-tolerant quantum computers.
In addition to supporting Xanadu's internal hardware roadmap, the facility will also serve as a national resource for advanced manufacturing, now open to external customers including academic institutions, startups, and industry leaders developing next-generation photonic and quantum devices.
The Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, officially opened the new facility at the company's Toronto headquarters.
'Xanadu's advanced photonic packaging facility represents the kind of world-class innovation Canada is known for,' said Minister Solomon. 'It strengthens our domestic quantum supply chain, accelerates commercial readiness, and reinforces our position as a global leader in quantum technologies. This is a proud moment for Canada as we scale our quantum ambitions into industrial capability and global impact.'
Xanadu's advanced packaging line integrates custom tooling and proprietary processes developed in-house, with capabilities including ultra-low loss coupling for photonic integrated circuits (PICs), high-precision alignment and hybrid bonding for quantum-grade performance and tailored workflows for R&D, prototyping, and pre-production volumes.
'This facility isn't just a big technical achievement—it's also a strategic one,' said Christian Weedbrook, CEO of Xanadu. 'By building domestic capacity for high-performance photonic packaging, we're strengthening Canada's position as a global hub for quantum technology innovation.'
This milestone adds critical manufacturing capacity to Canada's quantum ecosystem, reducing reliance on international packaging providers and enabling secure, domestic production of quantum hardware components. It also contributes to the growth of a sovereign quantum supply chain, spanning chips, cryogenics, electronics, and control systems. The facility was supported in part by federal investment from the Strategic Innovation Fund aligned with national priorities to secure Canada's leadership in quantum technologies.
About Xanadu: Xanadu is a Canadian quantum computing company with the mission to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere. Founded in 2016, Xanadu has become one of the world's leading quantum hardware and software companies. ‘Carbon tax will be gradual, not a barrier to investment'

Bilateral synergy: Anwar addressing the audience during a roundtable meeting in Paris with French captains of industry. — Bernama PARIS: The proposed carbon tax, to be finalised in several months, should not be considered a problem for investing companies, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said the proposed tax would be carried out cautiously and gradually. 'We are finalising that in the next few months. 'I know about the trend of decarbonisation (which is) strong and compelling, but we have to be realistic. 'The proposed tax should not be seen as a problem at the expense of investing companies,' he said during a question and answer session at a roundtable meeting with French captains of industry. More than 42 representatives from French companies and 18 representatives from Malaysian companies attended the event. The French representatives had positive remarks about working in Malaysia, with several of them noting that they invested because they believed in the country. Anwar also said that Malaysia, which focuses on neutrality, is friendly to all including having excellent relations with China, adding that having economic fundamentals remains the core focus. 'We engage and respond to all. At the end of the day, peace and stability are important in carrying out business. We are in one of the most peaceful regions in the world and one with the fastest growing economies,' he said. Anwar also took time to speak with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to congratulate him on the Liberal Party's recent electoral victory. 'I look forward to working closely with Prime Minister Carney and his new administration to strengthen the longstanding Malaysia-Canada partnership for the mutual benefit of our peoples,' he said. Malaysia, he added, remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Canada across various sectors, including trade, investment and defence cooperation. 'I'm pleased with PETRONAS' continued involvement in the LNG Canada project, as it clearly symbolises strong cooperation in the energy sector,' he said. He called on Canada to reconsider visa exemptions for Malaysians, noting that both countries are Commonwealth members.

Enhancing Capacity and Logistics Flow, Minister Al-Jasser Lays Foundation Stone for Logistics Corridor Linking Jeddah Islamic Port and Al-Khumrah Logistics Park

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, July 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In a strategic move to strengthen Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure, His Excellency Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), laid the foundation stone for a new logistics corridor connecting Jeddah Islamic Port to Al-Khumrah Logistics Park. The ceremony was attended by Mawani President Eng. Suliman Almazroua, alongside senior officials and leaders from across the transport and logistics ecosystem. Developed and implemented by Mawani, the corridor project is valued at over $183.7 million and spans 17 kilometerswith two lanes in each direction. It features 12 overpasses, emergency access points, maintenance facilities, and a comprehensive rainwater drainage system, providing uninterrupted truck movement between the port and the logistics park while bypassing Jeddah's urban road network. Minister Al-Jasser emphasized that the dedicated corridor will increase Jeddah Islamic Port's handling capacity by 10%, streamline truck flows, and enhance road safety by separating heavy truck traffic from general urban traffic. The project is also expected to reduce congestion, noise, and visual pollution, while contributing to lower carbon emissions and a better urban living environment. 'This initiative is a key milestone under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing the Kingdom's ambition to become a global logistics hub connecting three continents,' said Al-Jasser. The corridor strengthens multimodal integration and supply chain efficiency, while enhancing trade facilitation and the operational performance of Jeddah Islamic Port. It also unlocks new investment opportunities in the region and creates added value for transporters, importers, exporters, shipping lines, and logistics park users. Jeddah Islamic Port is a major gateway on the Red Sea coast, covering 12.5 square kilometers with 62 multi-purpose berths, state-of-the-art terminals, and specialized facilities that support regional and international trade. This project represents another significant step in advancing Saudi Arabia's logistics sector and achieving Vision 2030's economic diversification and connectivity goals. Photo – –
