Lynsey Hope has tested supermarket cider cans

Whilst prices of beer and wine have risen, some stores are selling cider for around the same price per litre as a carton of apple juice.
From sweet and dry to everything in between, here Lynsey Hope reveals her favourite supermarket choices in a can - and the winner even beats Kopparberg.

Taurus Original Cider
£2.29
£1.30 a litre
ABV: 5%

The sour taste in Taurus' cider masked the fruit
Credit: Oliver Dixon
Golden colour with a slightly sour fruit aroma and a little toffee.
The sour taste masked the fruit a bit, though there were some very slight herbal undertones.
A little rough on the throat, though we can't deny the amazing price.
At £2.29 for four cans, it's a very, very budget option so if you can't afford anything on a hot day, this'll do.
Not a great tasting cider though - best left for the end of the night when the tastebuds are shall we say, less sensitive.
Taste: 1/5
Value: 3/5
Overall score: 4/10
Tesco Apple Cider
£2.50
£1.42 a litre
ABV: 4.5%

Tesco's cider tastes like drinking a fruit, sparkling cider
Credit: Oliver Dixon
The Tesco cider has quite a crisp refreshing taste.
It's not overly strong and is a little like drinking a fruity, sparkling water.
It needed a bit more punch, but it was pleasant enough to drink.
If you want a chilled cider on a budget, it's a solid choice.
Passable - and £2.10 cheaper than Strongbow for four cans.
Taste: 3/5
Value: 3/5
Overall score: 6/10
Morrisons The Best West Country Vintage Still Cider
£7.50
£3.33 a litre
ABV: 6.8%

The Morrisons cider didn't last long in Lynsey's fridge

Lovely and crispy and this packs a fruity punch, thanks to the higher ABV.
You can tell it's a collaboration with cider maker Henry Weston.
Whilst it's a little pricier than other own brands, it definitely has a finer taste.
It's made using traditional varieties of cider apples, including Dabinett and Michelin, harvested and pressed in the same year, slowly matured and spends time in aged oak vats.
A box instead of cans, but once opened, it was devoured pretty quickly and didn't last long in the fridge.
Taste: 5/5
Value: 4/5
Overall score: 9/10
Asda Cider Original
£2.54 for 4 cans
£1.44 a litre
ABV: 5%

Asda's version tastes similar to Strongbow
Credit: Oliver Dixon
A dry cider that's ok for the price, it tastes a little like Strongbow.
The aroma was fresh and somewhat appealing and it was crisp and refined to drink.
It tasted best when super chilled. Be warned, it does contain sweeteners and sulphites.
Taste: 4/5
Value:4/5
Overall score: 8/10
M&S Devon Orchard Cider
£2.25
£2.82 a litre
ABV: 4%

M&S was crowned the winner - despite the price tag
Credit: Oliver Dixon
If you can overlook the fact that you are paying pretty much the same price for this small can as you are for a four-pack at Aldi, then it's really delicious.
They come in a range of flavours and I especially loved the elderflower infusion and raspberry.
Crisp, refreshing and not sickly sweet like many other fruit ciders.
It's all made at Sandford Orchards in Devon and the cans are nice to take out on a picnic too.
It is expensive, but already planning to order in a few more as a treat - even at this price, it's still my winner.
Taste: 5/5
Value: 5/5
Overall score: 10/10
Lidl Woodgate Original Cider
£2.29
£1.30 a litre
ABV: 4.5%

Lidl's cider is a decent budget option
Credit: Oliver Dixon
Amber coloured with a very strong, fruity aroma.
It's not as gassy as Strongbow and I found it easier to drink, easily sipping a can without feeling bloated.
It's quite dry, and sour, but not unpleasant - and a great price.
For a budget option, you could do much worse than this.
It's pretty good quality for the price, with no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners.
Taste: 3/5
Value: 4/5
Overall score: 7/10

Tesco's 'stunning' £34 outfit that 'could pass for River Island' wows shoppers

The supermarket's F&F shoppers have been praising the 'stunning' outfit that is giving 'holiday' vibes Shoppers have been raving about an outfit that looks like it could come from a high-street fashion brand —but it's actually from Tesco. In the same store where people box off their weekly shop, some are desperate to pick up an outfit that could pass for something sold by River Island. ‌ A TikTok account (@fandflongeaton) run by staff at a Tesco store shared the "stunning" co-ord that costs £34 for the complete outfit. They urged people to "run to Tesco" before showing off the crinkle-effect co-ord that comes in a trendy shade of green. ‌ Highlighting its flowy fit, shoppers were instant fans of the simple outfit that has a pop of gold on the top. The outfit isn't available online at the time of writing, but prices were shown in the video, with the top costing £16 and the trousers priced at £18. ‌ ‌ However, a few were put off by the length of the pants. One claimed: "I wish I was taller I'm 5ft! I don't think the trousers would fit me!" Another put: "I'm 5'8 and I'm wayyy too tall for them!" People were quick to make suggestions such as altering the trousers to suit your height with iron-on webbing to easily customise the final leg length. Another TikTok user offered their tips that focused on making your footwear help. They advised: "I'm 5ft 2 and they are long but if you buy a nice trainer with a good back they look nice. Or I've been wearing them with sandals, they don't drag too much." ‌ Earlier this year, Tesco announced a major change to its F&F clothing range that proved a game-changer for shoppers. In April, it was confirmed that the supermarket would be launching an online store exclusively for F&F clothing. Shoppers can currently browse a selection of the supermarket clothing range online - including men's, women's and children's. The range includes fashionable and quality pieces through the F&F Edit, Sports and F&F Active Athleisure clothing. ‌ It will also feature exclusive collaborations and high-demand seasonal items, such as school uniforms, which currently have 25% off until July 27, 2025. Customers will be able to earn Clubcard points on all their purchases, making shopping at Tesco even more rewarding.

Everyone thinks I'm 25 because I look so hot wearing mini-dresses and tiny shorts – but my real age will shock you

A FASHIONISTA has rubbished the suggestion that people should dress their age - and has left the people stunned by how old she really is. TikToker Charlotte Singmin grew up in a time where women were bombarded ''with toxic messaging'' on ''how they 'should' look''. 2 2 ''When I was growing up our bodies would be labelled apples or pears and we were convinced we had an expiry date,'' Charlotte recently said online. ''Turns out we don't need to identify with fruit and we should feel good dressing however we want at any age,'' she shared in an uplifting post. Now, Charlotte doesn't hide or dresses to become invisible - the brunette beauty rocks mini dresses and figure-hugging shorts, and urges others to follow suit. ''i'm 49 and I don't believe in 'dressing your age'. ''If it makes you feel good, do it,'' she said in the video. For Charlotte, however, it wasn't an easy journey, with vicious trolls slamming her with ''ageist comments'' about her style. It wasn't until her 49th birthday that the stunner, who posts under the username @ charlottesingmin, rediscovered her ''love of fashion''. The mum and entrepreneur said in a video: ''I'm turning 50 in November and I'm finally starting to live life on my terms and learning what makes me happy. ''Turns out, I love putting on a cute fit and drinking mocktails with my girlie.'' Charlotte's inspiring words have clearly resonated with many, as the stylish mum has racked up more than 370k views. I'm 5ft3 & a size 12-14 - my 7 Tesco dresses are an absolute bargain & perfect for a last-minute wedding guest outfit As many flooded to comments, one couldn't believe the mum was about to turn 50 in autumn. ''49 looking like 25,'' the fan was gobsmacked. A fellow fashionista chimed in: ''I turn 45 this weekend and I'm wearing whatever the hell I want.'' ''49 but looking better than most of 20' out there,'' a viewer said. ''I can't stand people saying dress your age.. it doesn't even make sense.. there's no mandatory look for any age,'' a TikToker thought. ''Just be a decent person and wear whatever you want.'' ''This isn't 'dressing your age'. this is dressing your power. period,'' a fifth penned.
