McLaren's Historic Victory at Bahrain International Circuit Celebrated by Cabinet
The Cabinet extended its congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's successful hosting of the 2025 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, and on McLaren's victory in the race at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) -its first in Bahrain since the Kingdom joined the Formula 1 calendar in 2004.
The Cabinet highlighted the outstanding organisation of the 21st edition of the event, which reflects the Kingdom's standing as a host of premier international sporting events. This accomplishment builds on the Kingdom's vast achievements at the BIC over the past 21 years.
The Cabinet commended the relentless efforts of the national workforce from the Ministry of Interior and the BIC, as well as several government authorities, which facilitated the success of the world-class sporting event.
The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to motorsport fans in the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad for their enthusiastic participation and support.
The Cabinet commended His Royal Highness's attendance at the 'Concordia' Unveiling Event, a monumental stained-glass artwork by internationally acclaimed artist Sir Brian Clarke. The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's commitment to developing Bahrain International Airport by enhancing its competitiveness. The artwork enhances the airport's aesthetic value and the experience of visitors and travellers by integrating art and culture into public spaces.
In this regard, the Cabinet welcomed the multiple international awards received by Bahrain International Airport in 2024-2025, including being recognised as the 'World's Best Airport Serving 5–10 Million Passengers.'
The Cabinet welcomed the Kingdom's election as a member of the Arab Charter for Human Rights Committee, reflecting the trust of the League of Arab States members in the Kingdom's commitment to regional Human Rights and its progress under the National Human Rights Plan.
The Cabinet then discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Civil Service Council on restructuring several government agencies to improve efficiency.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance on the Kingdom's contributions to regional and international organisations.
3. A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law amending the decree law regulating advertising.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft resolution naming the competent administrative body and minister responsible for cultural and artistic associations, clubs, and private cultural and artistic institutions, and defining their scope of work.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft resolution regulating navigation permits for visiting ships in Bahraini waters.
6. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture on the acquisition of real estate for public use, to provide necessary spaces for urban development.
7. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government's response to four proposals presented by the Council of Representatives.
The Cabinet also reviewed the following:
1. The outcomes of the Minister of Foreign Affairs's visit to the United States of America, including a meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York, regarding the Kingdom of Bahrain's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term.
2. The outcomes of the Kingdom's participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF 2025).
3. The outcomes of the visit programme for the Ministers of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
4. The outcomes of the official visit of the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs to the Italian Republic.
5. The outcomes of the 14th edition of the AIM Congress.

Youth Affairs Minister announces launch of Youth City 2030 on July 13
Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, emphasised that the national initiative Youth City 2030 is in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She explained that the project reflects Bahrain's commitment to supporting and empowering young people, recognising their important role in national development and in shaping the country's future. The Minister commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, in launching advanced initiatives and programmes that invest in youth skills and strengthen their contribution to different sectors. She noted that these efforts show His Highness's belief in young people's ability to lead and make a difference. She announced that the 14th edition of Youth City 2030 will begin on July 13 at Exhibition World Bahrain and is organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, in strategic partnership with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). This year's edition aims to increase youth participation and provide quality training opportunities to help them develop their skills and prepare for the labour market, giving them the tools to shape their future with confidence. Minister Tawfiqi highlighted the strong partnership between the Ministry and Tamkeen, which has resulted in the development of advanced programmes over the years. She said this cooperation reflects a shared goal of investing in national talent and empowering youth as a key part of sustainable development. This year's edition will feature a major increase in training opportunities, based on a full review of past editions. It will offer 195 specialised training programmes across five main centres: Science and Technology, Arts and Culture, Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Media and Entertainment, and Sports and Health. A total of 5,500 training opportunities will be provided, and 84 youth-led projects will be showcased in a special space where visitors and participants can explore their ideas and innovations. The Minister said that this edition will also feature a major step forward, with artificial intelligence technologies included in over 70% of the training programmes. This reflects the Ministry's aim to keep up with global trends and prepare for the future of work. She added that the Ministry, in cooperation with the Skills Bahrain initiative under Tamkeen, has formed a joint team to design training programmes based on market needs. A talent committee has also been created to evaluate participants using a scientific method to identify promising skills. She also mentioned that new programmes will focus on youth mental health, showing the Ministry's commitment to supporting both the professional and personal well-being of youth, and helping them build a more balanced and successful future.

The Southern Governorate is committed to strengthening communication, prompt responsiveness, and community partnership, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This was emphasised by His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate, who noted that as part of its digital transformation efforts, the Governorate issued a mid-year report indicating it received approximately 1,209 inquiries and requests by the end of June 2025 across security, service, and social sectors. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali said that these were submitted through various channels, including phone calls, the Southern Governorate app, email, the national 'Tawasul' platform, and the Governorate Council. The requests were categorised as 42% service-related, 37% social, and 21% security.

King hails ‘spirit of unity' as Britain remembers 7/7 attacks
Fifty-two thousand petals fell in St Paul's Cathedral yesterday to honour the 52 victims of London's July 7 bombings, as King Charles III paid tribute to the spirit of unity shown after the 2005 atrocity. To mark the moment the first bomb went off 20 years ago, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and London Mayor Sadiq Khan laid wreaths at the July 7 memorial in the capital's Hyde Park at 8:50 am (0750 GMT). On July 7, 2005, four homegrown Islamist extremists detonated suicide bombs on three underground trains and a bus across central London, killing dozens and injuring hundreds more. The king's brother Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his wife, Sophie, attended a national service of commemoration at St Paul's, along with Starmer and the mayor. They were joined by survivors, bereaved relatives and emergency services personnel on duty at the time of the attacks. Later Monday, Prince William attended a commemoration service at the July 7 memorial, meeting with survivors and laying flowers at the site. In an earlier statement to mark the anniversary, his father, the king, urged people to draw on the 'extraordinary courage and compassion' shown after the attack.
