London Marathon 2025: How to get FREE food, drinks and massage oil with finishers' medal

Daily Mirror26-04-2025
London Marathon finishers will be entitled to a host of freebies, from burgers to pints and recovery products, once they can show off their medal across the capital on Sunday
An estimated 56,000 people will start Sunday's TCS London Marathon and the majority who make it from Greenwich to the finish line on The Mall will receive a medal that they will cherish for years to come.
But the memento is also a key to plenty of free food, drink and more across the capital in the 24 hours after the race.

A number of pubs and restaurants are offering pints, burgers and discounts for those who make it through the 26.2 mile adventure, while one shop is even offering a free bath bomb to soak tired legs.

Here is your guide to what a finisher's medal can earn on Sunday and into Monday.
Bill's will put up a free burger and beer or soft drink for medallists and race volunteers at all 11 restaurants across Sunday and Monday.
Meatliquor will be giving out burgers to finishers too at their restaurants across the capital, with Franco Manca offering a free pizza at all of their restaurants across the country until Monday night.
The Real Greek, SushiDog, Pastaio and Maxwell's Bar and Grill are among the other London restaurants giving out freebies to finishers on Sunday.
And those not quite feeling peckish immediately after the race, Gaucho's London branches will be offering a free steak for medalists until May 1.
For those looking to replenish with a pint, bars offering freebies include Kricket, the Vinegar Yard, while The Ivy will be giving out a free glass of fizz.

As ever all participants will be entitled to free travel on the entire Transport for London network on Sunday. And for visitors looking to hang around the capital afterwards, City Cruises are offering a free boat trip with family and friends getting 30 per cent off their tickets too.
When it comes to recovering there are plenty of options too. High street chain Lush will be handing out recovery goodie bags to finishers featuring a bar of massage oil, while there will be a number of Epsom salt bath bombs free for finishers too.
Gymshark's Regent Street branch are also offering a recovery day featuring ice baths from 1pm to 6pm and Joe and The Juice will be on hand to provide some healthy smoothies.
Those needing a little more time to get back moving can utilise a free class from Triyoga up to the end of May.

Tone-deaf ECB has broken Ben Stokes by prioritising the Hundred

The ECB was keen to announce that six of the eight ownership contracts have been agreed because negotiations dragged on far longer than expected but another day, once the Test had started, would not have made a big difference and allowed the Test series priority. Instead a stream of press releases from the counties involved and the bankers who handled the deals for the Hundred hit inboxes. Trent Bridge and the Oval are still in talks with their prospective buyers, with Surrey and the Ambani family the most fraught of those negotiations. The press release insisted that the ECB will retain control over 'key areas such as regulations, the length of the window and other matters that have a wider game-wide impact'. We shall see. Stokes was clearly upset and hugely disappointed to miss out and tried to persuade himself he could play as a batsman only to realise at practice that it would be a silly risk to take. He stood forlornly at the side of nets as England trained, watched for a few minutes before he wheeled his kit bag back to the dressing room, and packed it away until the Perth Test in November. In hindsight, while his eight-over spell on the morning of day five at Old Trafford was great sporting theatre and felt crucial to England's chances, it was obvious straightaway he was carrying a shoulder injury. England are still not very good at telling their alpha male captain to give his body a chance. At the drinks break it looked as though Joe Root was trying to persuade Stokes he had done enough. He bowled three more overs to the second new ball, clutching his shoulder between deliveries as he walked back to his mark. The pecking order for the best cricketers has not changed. Stokes struggles to hide his disdain for the Hundred. Despite the aches and pains he described a five-Test series as 'very tough, a real test of character, of physicality but is class to play. .When he won his first IPL earlier this year, Virat Kohli was asked what it meant to him. 'It marks five levels below Test cricket.' Says it all.

Newcastle star stretchered off in worrying scenes during friendly as horror pre-season goes from bad to worse

NEWCASTLE star Joe Willock was stretchered off in worrying scenes. The former Arsenal man collided in a tackle during the closing stages of Newcastle's pre-season friendly against the K-League XI in South Korea. 2 2 Willock was helped off the pitch by a stretcher to add to Eddie Howe's horror start to the season. And Newcastle fans watching on were also left in concern, as one said: "Doesn't look good at all." Another added: "Looked a bad one." Templegate's Tote Placepot tips for Goodwood day two with huge £200,000 guaranteed

GLORIOUS GOODWOOD continues today with seven more big races for punters to get into. Our man Templegate has looked through the day two cards and returns with his Placepot tips in the hope of helping you land a slice of the huge £200,000 guaranteed pot! 1 The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting. You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it's 2x2x2x2x2x2 which adds up to 64 lines. You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line which would cost a total of £3.20. 10p a line is £6.40 and so on. Provided at least one in each race is placed, we get a payout! Goodwood Wednesday placepot LEG 1: Sing Us A Song, Sudu SING US A SONG can be forgiven one poor run at Royal Ascot where he was sleeping in the stalls. Ralph Beckett's Camelot colt is better judged on his blistering Sandown win that kicked off this season. He shapes like this trip will be ideal and has more to come off a fair mark. SUDU deserves this hike in grade after winning by seven lengths at Epsom earlier this month. He's been hiked 11lb but has lots of talent. LEG 2: Tabiti, Romantic Style TABITI was a cracking third in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. She led past the furlong marker in that red-hot mile contest and dropping back in trip here looks perfect. ROMANTIC STYLE was a smart Meydan winner in January and unlucky in G3 Abernant at HQ on return. Solid 7f filly when right and can figure under Buick. LEG 3: Lady Iman, Military Code LADY IMAN looks much the best filly in this race and hopefully top Irish trainer Ger Lyons can land his first winner on British soil since way back in 2019. He won't have had many better chances than this talented Starman filly who took the Group 3 Blackbeard Stakes at Naas in May before going close in hot company at The Curragh last time. MILITARY CODE was just nabbed in a Sandown Listed race over this trip latest and may find it easier to get home here. Charlie Appleby is in fine form and his hope goes on good or rattling fast ground. LEG 4: Field Of Gold FIELD OF GOLD looks on a different level to his elders and can follow in his sire Kingman's hoofprints by winning the Sussex Stakes. We all know he should have won the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket before he demolished his rivals in the Irish version before a bloodless success in the St James's Palace at Royal Ascot last time. There are no trip or ground worries and, while he hasn't tackled a tricky track like this before, there's no reason why he won't handle it. LEG 5: Bintjeddah, Quebella BINTJEDDAH finished like a train when second over a mile at Newmarket last time and this longer trip should be ideal. The handicapper has been fair with a 2lb rise and there's more to come for William Haggas. QUEBELLA looks a threat having run well in a Listed contest here in June before going close in a decent handicap at Southwell. Her mark of 87 looks lenient and she's capable of figuring in this company. LEG 6: Luna Mia, Spicy Marg LUNA MIA was an excellent fourth in a Curragh Group 2 last time despite missing the break. She picked up nicely and should be dangerous in this lesser company. SPICY MARG scored on debut and is another who has been running well in Group company. She wasn't disgraced in the Duchess Of Cambridge at Newmarket last time out.
