How did the mistake occur by someone who uses long and less commonly heard English words? Well, Tharoor was responding to a post by businessman Suhel Seth, who had met the Congress leader and shared a picture on X.
'Just met Shashi Tharoor and am conderned about his throat: he's nursing a cold…,' Seth wrote. Tharoor was in London on Sunday for a media event.
Tharoor, the Thiruvananthapuram MP, responded: 'Thank you for your 'condern' Suhel Seth! Grateful that you condign to be conderned! Watch out — some may condemn you for that!"
Netizens reacted to mispelling by Tharoor. 'Condern will enter in Oxford's dictionary 2025 version,' one X user said.
Shashi Tharoor's command of the English language is acknowledged even within his own party, so much so that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge recently remarked that Tharoor was included in the Congress Working Committee for his linguistic prowess.
"Shashi Tharoor's English is very good, that's why he has been taken in the CWC (Congress Working Committee). I supported this," Kharge said at a press conference last week when asked about Tharoor's praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Tharoor's remarks praising PM Modi have seemingly irked Tharoor's party and widened the growing cracks in his ties with its leadership.
In an article published in The Hindu earlier this month, Congress MP Tharoor said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's energy, dynamism and willingness to engage remain a 'prime asset' for India on the global stage but deserve greater backing. Tharoor said the diplomatic outreach following "Operation Sindoor" was a moment of national resolve and effective communication.

Tharoor's praise for the prime minister comes at a time when the Congress has been consistently attacking the Modi government over its foreign policy. The Congress party even said that diplomacy was being "shattered" and the country stands "isolated" globally, more so after Pakistan's army chief General Asim Munir had a lunch meeting in Washington DC with US President Donald Trump a few days ago.

Speeding SUV crashes into house injuring residents
Lucknow: A speeding SUV, allegedly with a BJP block chief sticker and an Uttarakhand number plate, rammed into a house in Santguru Ravidas Nagar late Tuesday leaving two residents injured and triggering a political row. The vehicle ploughed through a shop front and boundary wall around 1:50 am, crashing into the living quarters of Vijay and his wife, Gyanmati. The couple's shop and household items were severely damaged while Vijay and their son, Deepak, suffered minor injuries. The vehicle also hit and injured one of its passengers, but the remaining three occupants, including a woman, fled the scene, said police. The incident took place under the Hazratganj police station limits. SHO Vikram Singh said an FIR was registered based on a written complaint from Gyanmati. The vehicle was seized, and legal action is underway under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 125(b) (causing damage), and 324(5) (causing hurt by dangerous means). "Four people, including the driver, have been booked," he added. Police also recovered liquor bottles and other intoxicants from the SUV. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was being driven recklessly at high speed. "There were three men and a woman inside the vehicle. All appeared intoxicated. One remained inside the vehicle with injuries while others managed to escape," a senior officer at the scene said. The Congress party accused the BJP of promoting a culture of impunity. "Beer bottles on the dashboard, drunk BJP men fleeing after wrecking a house—this is the true face of the ruling party," the UP Congress posted on X.

Teacher shortage looms as 96 schools upgraded to senior secondary level
Jaipur: School education department has upgraded 96 upper primary schools to senior secondary level without provisoning for additional number of teachers required to teach the higher grades. School education minister Madan Dilawar also said Wednesday that orders have been issued to introduce Humanities, Science and Commerce for Class 11 in 99 Hindi medium schools. "This is the first time orders have been issued to upgrade schools and add subjects at the start of the session," Dilawar said. Govt school teachers pointed out the difficulty in implementing the govt order considering that govt schools are sitting on 1.25 lakh teacher vacancies. As per an earlier order regarding the upgrade of schools, this year new admissions will be taken for class 9 and 10 and classes 11 and 12 will be started respectively in the coming sessions. Teachers said that new admissions will start but approved teaching posts will remain the same, leading to a shortage. President of Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers Association, Vipin Prakash Sharma, said, "If schools are upgraded, then it should be done with advance planning regarding the posting of teachers, because new admissions will start, and without teachers, students are the ones who will suffer." Meanwhile, officials from the education directorate said that orders will be issued for the posting of teachers in these upgraded schools within a week. Director of secondary education Sitaram Jat, said that after the posting of teachers in Mahatma Gandhi Govt English medium schools, many teachers from Hindi medium schools who were posted in English medium schools have now become surplus and will be redirected to these upgraded schools.
