Class of 2026 defensive lineman Kobe Cherry committed to Purdue on Monday.
The three-star recruit chose the Boilermakers over other finalists Indiana and Wisconsin. His offer sheet also included Louisville, Minnesota, Toledo and Washington.
247Sports ranks Cherry as the No. 1,357 player in the class of 2026, the No. 147 defensive lineman and the No. 21 recruit from the state of Indiana. The 6-foot-5 lineman only took an official visit to Purdue. Notably, the in-state Boilermakers had long been the prohibitive favorites to land his commitment.
He joins a Purdue class of 2026 that now ranks No. 35 nationally with 18 players committed. That class recently surpassed the Badgers' group (No. 51) in the national rankings. That movement has occurred as Wisconsin has gone 10 days without a commitment.
The Badgers do already have two defensive linemen pledged to the class: Djidjou Bah and Arthur Scott. Bah's status is worth monitoring, however, as he recently took an official visit to Missouri. Wisconsin may be tasked with extra work to retain his commitment.

Alabama lands commitment from local standout, 2026 in-state linebacker

On Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from a local product, as in-state standout Zay Hall announced that he had committed to the program. Hall is the sixth different player to commit to Alabama so far this week, as well as the third within the past two days alongside the four-star duo of Ezavier Crowell and Mack Sutter. At the moment, Hall is currently considered as the nation's No. 1,148 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. A three-star prospect, Hall is also ranked as the nation's No. 127 overall linebacker, as well as the No. 55 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. The three-star prospect is the first linebacker commit in Alabama's class, as well as the fourth from in-state where he is joined by the aforementioned Crowell (Jackson), Zyan Gibson (Gadsden City), and Kamhariyan Johnson (Muscle Shoals). Alabama's class has now cracked the Top 10 of the 247Sports Team Rankings as well, sitting at No. 10 with a total of 13 commitments. James Harrison says Steelers could cut Aaron Rodgers midseason under one condition

Everyone has an opinion on what the Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers are capable of — but the legendary James Harrison might've just dropped the boldest prediction yet. On a recent episode of the Nightcap podcast, Harrison argued that Rodgers could be released — under one condition: Pittsburgh starts losing. "If [the Steelers] start losing and it's looking like they ain't gonna make above .500, I think it gets real ugly, real fast," Harrison said. "To the point where they may just be like, 'You know what, let's let this dude go midseason. For Aaron, let's just get him outta here and put one of these other quarterbacks in.' Mike [Tomlin] ain't going nowhere." While midseason struggles leading to a major change under center aren't unheard of — releasing Rodgers seems extremely unlikely, especially if his mentorship of rookie Will Howard continues to show positive signs of growth. Rodgers has been candid about his likely retirement after 2025 — but if Harrison's prediction comes to fruition, his career may not end on his terms after all. Brewers Send 5-Word Christian Yelich Message After Rockies Game

Brewers Send 5-Word Christian Yelich Message After Rockies Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Milwaukee Brewers designated hitter Christian Yelich is in his thirteenth major-league season after making his debut in 2013 at age 21. Advertisement Originally selected in the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Marlins, he spent five seasons in Miami before an offseason trade sent him to Milwaukee ahead of the 2018 campaign. In Milwaukee he immediately elevated his game—batting .326 with 36 homers and 110 RBIs on his way to NL MVP honors in 2018—and transitioned that success into his current nine-year, $215 million contract that includes a mutual option for 2029. Yelich has said repeatedly he wants to finish his career in Milwaukee and his contract is indicative of that. Advertisement The team's official X account congratulated Yelich and wrote, 'This guy is a MACHINE.' Since joining the Brew Crew, Yelich has been named an All-Star three times (2018, 2019, 2024) and claimed a Gold Glove in left field before his transition to designated hitter. Over his career, Yelich has a lifetime .286 batting average, accumulating 219 home runs and 805 RBIs in 1,543 games. He has led the Brewers to six postseason appearances out of his seven Milwaukee seasons, but is still searching for his first National League pennant, falling just a game short in 2018. As Milwaukee eyes another October run, Yelich's bat and clubhouse leadership will once again be pivotal to the team's success.
