Tralee Golf Club to host Arnold Palmer Cup in 2026
Team USA leads the Rolex-sponsored series 15-13 with one match tied.
'We look forward to welcoming the world's best collegiate golfers to Tralee Golf Club to play boldly and honour the legacy of Arnold Palmer,' said Amy Palmer Saunders, board chair of the Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation.
'In addition to introducing the next generation of young golf talent, this tournament celebrates camaraderie, honour and integrity – the qualities of good character that make a true champion.'
Tralee Golf Club, perched dramatically on the Atlantic cliffs at West Barrow in County Kerry, is one of Ireland's premier links courses.
As the first European course designed by Palmer, it holds a special place in Palmer's legacy.
'I may have designed the first nine, but surely God designed the back nine,' Palmer famously remarked.
'We are absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to host the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup at Tralee Golf Club,' said Chairperson Brian Mehigan. 'This prestigious event is a perfect match for our world-renowned links, and we look forward to welcoming the world's best collegiate players to our spectacular course on the Atlantic.'
General Manager Maurice O'Meara added: 'It's a privilege for our club to play a part in continuing Arnold Palmer's incredible legacy. We eagerly anticipate showing players, coaches, and fans from around the world the warmth of our welcome and the unforgettable challenge of links golf at Tralee.'
In addition to its world-class course, Tralee Golf Club offers outstanding facilities including a state-of-the-art practice academy featuring advanced training technology, a par-3 short course, indoor simulator, and a driving range.
The clubhouse offers panoramic views and fine dining, creating an experience as refined off the course as it is on it.
Founded in 1896 and relocated to its current home in 1984, Tralee Golf Club has over 1,300 members.
It will be a big year for amateur golf in Ireland in 2026 with Lahinch set to host the 51st Walker Cup matches from September 5-6.

McClelland is in his sixth season at St Pat's with his outings in the league split almost equally between starts — 61 — and outings as a substitute — 63. And Kenny remarked that, on occasion, he has not even made the bench but shown resilience and perseverance to play his part. But Kenny is not prepared to pigeon-hole the former UCD star, particularly because he might be needed in other areas. Kenny said: 'With Zack Eelbouzedi getting injured, we lost a wide player and Jason has played there as well so we've got to look at a lot of stuff. 'But definitely when the game is in front of him he can see great pictures and has the technical ability to execute really intelligent passes and crosses. He's a very intelligent player. 'The physicality maybe wasn't his strongest point but he has adapted to that and really added that to his game to help him play there.' Despite being in and out of the team, Kenny does not believe McClelland was ever close to leaving and praised how he ensured he kept himself in shape. Kenny said: 'I don't think so. He was out of contract last season. I made it clear to him that I wanted him to stay. 'His versatility is important, he's played central midfield this year a good few times and he's played on the left. 'Even when he's not in the team, he's super fit and that's a challenge because players find it hard, when they're not in the team, to stay at the level, they get demoralised. 'He's had that level of professionalism to stay at the level needed whenever needed and that's testament to his character.' Opportunities in midfield came in part, because of Chris Forrester — Thursday's goal hero after he came off the bench — being sidelined for a total of almost two months. And Kenny admitted the fan favourite had work to do to get back into the starting XI. He said: 'He's had a few weeks' training and is coming on so definitely he comes into our thoughts but Jamie Lennon and Barry Baggley have been very good.

Kenny raves about St Pat's ace and lauds 'incredible football intelligence'
Stephen Kenny has hailed Jay McClelland for stepping out from the shadows and into the European spotlight for St Pat's. McClelland was the Saints man-of-the-match in Thursday's tense 1-0 Conference League win over nine-man Kalju, a result that puts St Pat's in control going to Estonia. And if they hold their rivals at bay on Thursday, the Inchicore men will face the loser of the Europa League tie between Besiktas and Shakhtar Donetsk. As it stands, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Besiktas are the most likely opponents as they lost Thursday's first-leg 4-2 at home. McClelland, 28, has been at St Pat's since 2020 but hasn't always been a starter and when he does play, he could be deployed in any number of positions. Lately, the attacking midfielder has been playing at left-back but has also popped up on the left wing and in the middle of the park. Kenny said of Forrester: 'He's been a great player, a regular in nearly all of my games since I took over but he was out for eight weeks. 'That's two months and you can lose a lot.
