Camp Snap Review: Is this $65 camera worth it?
Two weeks of testing later, I think I understand why. It turns out that a lot of us like the experience of snapping photos with friends and family with a camera, not our phones.

The Camp Snap camera is a pocketable digital camera that costs $65, a much lower-price than most competitors on the market. Despite being a digital camera, it is designed like a disposable film one — there is no screen on the back and no settings to change, you just point and shoot. The only controls are a flash switch (on, off, auto) and the shutter button.
The camera can hold up to 2000 photos on its included micro-SD card. To transfer photos, simply plug the camera into a computer using the included USB-C cable. You can also download color filters on the Camp Snap website.

Our experience with the Camp Snap camera
Ten staffers on team Select tried the Camp Snap camera for about two weeks after the brand sent us samples for review. The camera won our hearts, not with its stunning image quality (it's so-so) or high-tech features (it doesn't have any), but just by being a joy to carry around and take photos with.
What we like
Everyone loves using it
Everywhere we took this camera, people wanted to use it. An outing with friends or family suddenly became an excuse for everyone to pass around the Camp Snap camera to take photos, says NBC Select reporter Zoe Malin. 'Everyone wanted to do cute poses and asked me where to buy one — I can't say the same about taking pictures with my phone.'
It's so compact, easy to pocket and simple to use that anyone can pick it up and snap some photos, similar to the approachability of a disposable camera (but without the cost of film development).
It keeps you in the moment
The lack of any screen or controls means that all our testers found themselves staying in the moment instead of trying to get the perfect photo, similar to shooting with a film camera. We felt less self-conscious about the photos we took, and didn't worry about whether we got 'the shot'.
It's easy to view your photos when you are done
We loved how simple it was to review photos — just plug the Camp Snap directly into a computer and two clicks later, you can see your photo library, says NBC Select SEO editor Nikki Brown. Many of our testers' laptops don't have SD card slots, and transferring photos over an app often leads to headaches, in my experience.
At $65, it feels like a fun accessory, not an investment
Many of the best point-and-shoot cameras are an investment, costing upwards of $1000. Most of our testers are not photographers, and would never pay that much for something they aren't sure they would use regularly. But at $65, the Camp Snap camera is a fun splurge and a great gift.
Potential drawbacks to keep in mind
Image quality isn't great (but that's sort of missing the point)
None of us think the Camp Snap camera takes stunning images. That's not really the point — it's more about capturing a specific vibe.
'The images are reminiscent of Facebook era party photos — the focus tends to miss things and, without flash, the shots tend to be really grainy,' says NBC Select commerce editor Jordan Bowman.
All our testers agreed that if you are looking for high quality photos with sharp details and vivid color, you are better off using your phone (or a more expensive point-and-shoot camera). But if you are looking for photos with an imperfect, vintage aesthetic, you may like the look of this camera's photos.
Too many blurry shots
While most of our team didn't mind the so-so image quality, what we did find annoying was how many shots came out blurry. When NBC Select social video producer Josh Rios looked at his shots, so many were blurry, dark or overly-green that he wanted to put them into Adobe Lightroom to fix them. He started to, then stopped, realizing that adjusting white balance in post-production is almost the opposite of what the Camp Snap camera is intended for. 'I was making this camera into something it wasn't,' says Rios.
Who is the Camp Snap camera for?
The Camp Snap camera is the epitome of a vibes camera. It's something to give to a friend to take pictures with and laugh about later, says Rios. It's an alternative to smartphone photos, something that lets you stay immersed in the real world while still being able to capture the moment, says NBC Select associate reporter Ashley Morris. And it's a camera you can gift to anyone, of any age, regardless of their photography skills. Just know that the Camp Snap camera is more about the joy of taking the photos rather than printing 'high-quality' pictures to frame and display in your home.

Talking Shop with Chace Crawford
Talking Shop is our series where we talk to interesting people about their most interesting buys. Maybe you originally know him from 'Gossip Girl,' but in the almost 12 years since the show's final episode aired, Chace Crawford has been busy. He's starred in numerous movies and TV shows (including 'The Boys'), started working as the chief creative officer for Jiant Hard Tea and, most recently, founded American Dream Clubhouse, a menswear brand. To help him get through his jam-packed days on set and at home, Crawford relies on a few tried-and-true items (including a strong cup of coffee), which I talked to him in detail about below. Want more from NBC Select? Sign up When cafes were closed during the pandemic, Crawford discovered this Breville espresso machine to make coffee at home, which he drinks first thing in the morning. 'I learned how to use it on YouTube, and if you do it right, which isn't hard, you have a perfect cappuccino,' he says. 'It's one of my favorite rituals after walking the dog and while I read some morning news.' Crawford brews his warm beverages into coffee and espresso mugs from Loveramics, which fit perfectly under the machine's spout, he says. 'If I'm traveling for an extended period of time, and especially if I'm filming, I'll bring this coffee pour-over cup and the filters that fit it,' says Crawford. 'It's relatively inexpensive, cuts down on time and makes really good fresh coffee if you can get decent beans and grind them.' The dishwasher-safe dripper comes in ceramic and aluminum, and it has a 4-inch base, so you can put it over any compatible cup or carafe. Crawford often brews his pour-over coffee into this stainless steel, vacuum-insulated travel mug so he can bring it with him to set. 'I swear it'll keep liquid hot or cold for almost 24 hours, and it's great to have on set,' he says. 'It also locks well, so no spills.' The mug comes in 12-ounce and 16-ounce sizes, and you have to hand-wash it, according to the brand. 'I really like nice sunglasses — they make me feel better and look more stylish and 'adult' than I actually am,' says Crawford. 'Even though you run the risk of losing sunglasses, I always go to Moscot. I have a few of their sunglasses, but the Lemtosh are my favorites. I take them everywhere, and since I live in California, I need them all the time.' The sunglasses come in narrow, average, wide and extra-wide sizes, as well as over 20 colors. You can also customize the lens type (prescription or non-prescription) and opt to get them polarized. 'Something I consider a luxury item but I use all the time are the AirPods Pro,' says Crawford. 'I know that's pretty generic, but I still think they're one of the greatest inventions of all time. I'm not cool or hip enough to still use the wired Apple headphones like the cool kids. I always have my AirPods on me so I can cook, walk the dog or do whatever while having phone conversations or listening to music and podcasts at the gym.' These earbuds come with a USB-C charging case and have three listening modes: active noise cancellation, transparency and adaptive audio. 'On set in my trailer, the number one most used thing that I always bring with me — its key — is a Kindle e-reader,' says Crawford. 'It's great because it's strictly for books, so it has no other distractions, and it's light, it's backlit, you can download as many books as you want and it looks like you're reading an actual page from a book. I also always have my Kindle on flights and on my nightstand.' Crawford has a Kindle Oasis, which was discontinued in 2024 — 'I don't know why, the thing is incredible,' he says. But Amazon's classic Kindle is comparable, offering a similar glare-free display, weeks-long battery life and large storage capacity. 'I love to cook, and a lot of my favorite things revolve around the kitchen or grill because it's how I like to relax and it's challenging,' says Crawford. 'I absolutely love the Big Green Egg, which I have in medium. It's charcoal, so it takes some getting used to and to get fired up, but I can make the best steaks and whole roasted chicken at home. I'll buy good quality meat from a reputable place and can honestly make better steaks at home than going out. It's definitely a hit with guests, too.' Another cooking tool he loves is Hestan's nonstick frying pan, which he relies on in the kitchen rather than outside with the smoker. 'This is random, but so many people who notice my phone ask me about this, end up buying it and loving it,' says Crawford. 'It's a stick-on matte screen protector that removes the glare but it's really the feel of it that I love.' Beyoncé's unreleased music is stolen from her choreographer's car
Unreleased music by Beyoncé has been stolen from a car in Atlanta rented by the singer's choreographer and one of her dancers, according to a police report. Footage, show plans and concert set lists were also taken from the Jeep Wagoneer, which was parked at a food hall at Krog Street Market in Atlanta on Tuesday July 8, two days before Beyoncé's four-day residency at the city's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Police are investigating the theft of the materials, stored on five USB sticks, and have secured an arrest warrant for a suspect whose identity was withheld in the report. The developments emerge as Beyoncé, 43, took to the stage on Monday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which can hold around 73,000. Her tour ends at the end of July with two performances in Las Vegas. And the superstar, who has won 35 Grammy Awards since 2001, stoically continued to impress her fans last night despite the news. In addition to the music, two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, luxury clothing and accessories, and "sensitive material" belonging to the star were stolen, police say. The mum of three, born in Houston, Texas, is yet to publicly address the bombshell. It remains unclear what "sensitive material" she lost and no information about the music has been disclosed. But Atlanta Police Department's news release does state the choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue - both named in the document - told officers they parked their rental car, a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, by the food hall at around 8.10pm on Tuesday July 8. The pair returned to the car just after 9pm to discover the boot window had been damaged and two suitcases had been taken. The report identifies a possible suspect vehicle as a 2025 red Hyundai Elantra. Responding officers were able to identify "light prints" at the scene, and security cameras in the parking lot captured the incident, according to the report. Officers canvassed an area where the stolen laptop and headphones were tracked by using the devices' location services, the report stated. Beyoncé's epic tour hasn't gone without incident already as, last month, she told how she almost fell out of a car, which was propelled into the air at a concert in her home city. While performing in Houston during her flying car stint, the cables appeared to be uneven and left Beyoncé tilting over the edge until she was brought back down. In videos taken by fans, the singer kept it professional and was cool, calm and collected while the incident was resolved. The star since addressed the situation with humour on Instagram. She shared a video montage of her show, including her car malfunction, along with the caption: "Sittin' Sidewayz". The tour, which began in late April, has taken Queen Bey to several large stadiums across Europe and the US.
