Hyperbridge Becomes Polkadot's Native Bridge as DAO Backs DeFi Singularity Proposal

Hyperbridge Becomes Polkadot's Native Bridge as DAO Backs DeFi Singularity Proposal

New initiative aims to improve DOT liquidity and accessibility across multiple ecosystems
The Polkadot DAO has officially approved the Polkadot DeFi Singularity initiative, a landmark proposal designed to expand the accessibility of DOT and its derivatives across the multichain. With overwhelming community support, this initiative will enhance liquidity and interoperability, making it easier for developers and users to engage with Polkadot's DeFi ecosystem.
As part of this decision, the DAO has selected Hyperbridge as its native bridge, reinforcing its commitment to seamless cross-chain connectivity. The proposal, which is a joint effort by Hyperbridge and Bifrost, seeks to address Polkadot's liquidity challenges by incentivizing DOT liquidity in external ecosystems. Historically, limited on-chain accessibility has restricted external users and liquidity from entering Polkadot efficiently, slowing its expansion relative to other blockchain networks.
To counter this, the DAO has allocated 795,000 DOT from the Polkadot Treasury to launch a liquidity campaign. The campaign will distribute vDOT incentives to liquidity providers on key decentralized exchanges, focusing on DOT/ETH and vDOT/ETH pairs across Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, and Ethereum mainnet. By broadening DOT's presence in these ecosystems, the initiative aims to position DOT as a reserve asset, attract greater liquidity, and showcase Polkadot's interoperability across Web3.
Seun Lanlege, Co-founder of Hyperbridge shared, 'This proposal lays the necessary groundwork for the $DOT asset to find greater utility in the multichain as well as the pathways for new users and developers into the Polkadot ecosystem.'
This approval marks a strategic step forward in Polkadot's vision for a more interconnected and liquid ecosystem. With the Polkadot DeFi Singularity now set in motion, the stage is set for greater adoption, developer participation, and user engagement within the Polkadot network.

DWF Ventures Analyzes Catalysts Behind ETH's Price Rally, Including Rising Institutional Interest

DWF Ventures, the venture arm of web3 investor and market maker DWF Labs, has published an analysis of ETH's 30-day performance and future prospects. It examines the catalysts behind ETH's rally, which has seen its price rise by 70% in the past month, with a particular focus on institutional support. In its analysis, first published as an X thread, DWF Ventures assesses whether ETH's recent performance is indicative of an Ethereum season arriving, propelling both ETH and the assets its EVM ecosystem supports to greater heights. DWF pinpoints the triggers that have prompted ETH to break out of a three-year downtrend and flip bullish. The web3 investment firm notes that ETH's recent price rise hasn't occurred in a vacuum, but is rather the product of growing interest in the Ethereum ecosystem. Onchain activity on Ethereum has been increasing steadily including transactions, active addresses, volume, and the total percentage of ETH staked. Many of these metrics are at or approaching all-time highs, paving the way for ETH to move up. As highlighted in the report, institutions are increasingly acquiring ETH as a strategic asset, whose ETF inflows have surged past 230,000 ETH in a single day, while the ETH/BTC ratio has broken out of a multi-year downtrend. The analysis observes that companies are leveraging ETH for treasury diversification, capitalizing on its yield-generating potential through staking and DeFi integrations. It also asserts that greater regulatory clarity, aided by legislation such as the GENIUS Act, has provided the transparency required to attract cautious investors, paving the way for sustained upward momentum. Public companies that have purchased significant quantities of ETH include SharpLink Gaming, which DWF Ventures records as having purchased over $1B of the crypto asset since May. It acknowledges that BTC remains the asset of choice for public companies acquiring crypto, but suggests that ETH's ability to generate native yield via staking is desirable for preferred stock holders who are accustomed to receiving dividends. Other tailwinds contributing to ETH's rally, as outlined by DWF Ventures, include the CLARITY Act, which places less restrictions on institutions accessing ETH because it is regarded as a commodity rather than a security. It also notes that while the GENIUS Act was primarily concerned with stablecoins, Ethereum's dominance of almost 50% of the total stablecoin market cap will work in its favor as stablecoin capitalization increases. DWF Ventures concludes by analyzing increased institutional demand to bring capital onchain through tokenized RWAs and participation in DeFi, with Ethereum overwhelmingly the blockchain of choice. It cites global institutions including BlackRock, PayPal, Deutsche Bank, and UBS all utilizing Ethereum infrastructure. It finishes: 'The strong performance of associated sectors and tokens are encouraging signs of a potential '$ETH szn', especially for protocols that share and benefit from overlapping tailwinds in clearer regulation, stablecoin expansion, and onboarding of institutional capital.' Ty Haney Is Ready to Give Outdoor Voices Another Go

It's likely to at least catch the attention of current and former fans of the brand; Haney's challenge now is to successfully introduce the OV aesthetic — heavily associated with millennials — to Gen Z women. To do so, she's updated her go-to-market strategy. Outdoor Voices was part of the direct-to-consumer (DTC) retail gold rush of the 2010s, flush with VC cash, which she says eventually diluted her business to the point where she lost control. Gone are the days where a brand's trajectory could be supercharged thanks to Facebook and Instagram arbitrage. Haney now has a new trick up her sleeve thanks to Try Your Best (or TYB), the community rewards platform she launched in 2022 during the Web3 boom, which raised $11 million last month from investors including Offline Ventures and Strobe Ventures. The concept behind TYB is that brands can build fan channels and reward subscribers with early launches, discounts and more, while using the community to gauge new ideas, get feedback and build brand loyalty. Haney's CBD brand Joggy was one of the first to launch on TYB, while other brands on the platform include Glossier, Rare Beauty and Poppi. Outdoor Voices will go live on TYB this week with the product launch, giving those that join early access on 4 August. 'Really, TYB was a direct reaction to what worked and what didn't at OV. It came from understanding the power of community,' she says. With all Outdoor Voices stores closed, the focus is on e-commerce, though Haney says they're in talks with some select retail partners. Some collaborations that will hit on new categories are in line for spring. The Sun Shirt. Photo: Outdoor Voices The Sugar Cardigan. Photo: Outdoor Voices It's clear speaking to Haney that she's back in her element. She says TYB, Joggy and Outdoor Voices are three pieces of the brand world she's building. She has big ambitions, saying that she wants Outdoor Voices to be the next Patagonia (a brand more reflective of her current time spent between her hometown of Boulder, CO, and San Francisco). When she left in 2020, Outdoor Voices was at around $90 million in annual sales; the plan is to hit a new revenue high in the next 12 to 18 months. But she says she's not thinking about growth targets so much as she is building something that lasts, and she says the partners that she has in place this time feel like ones she can trust, ones that she had time to vet and get to know before deciding to return. She's stepping back in as a part owner of the company she started, which was a non-negotiable. 'Ownership matters a lot to me,' Haney says. 'How we fund the company, what the expectations are. That matters.' What happened with her first run at Outdoor Voices feels present. While she initially says she's 'put a bow on those eight years, and I'm very kind and grateful to them', she later addresses how difficult the period was. 'I'm an optimistic person. I think I blocked out those years.' Haney is not the only female founder of her era that left her company in a blaze of allegations of mismanagement and workplace toxicity. Is it vindicating to return? 'From a founder perspective, challenges are par for the course,' she says. 'But I don't think that era where there were so many takedowns was good for women wanting to be founders. So at the end of the day, I couldn't be more excited for this to be a model to show what's possible, and I hope that there's a wake of new interest from young women, to see what's possible in the brand and business-building world.'
