State brings migrant's body from Kuwait
Rameshwar Mahto, a resident of Bandkharo village in Vishnugarh block of Hazaribag, was working with M/s IMCO Engineering & Construction Company, Kuwait, for the past 12 years.
Mahto's wife, Pramila Devi, on June 19 appealed to the state to bring her husband's body back home. The state migrant control room co-ordinated with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and the protector of emigrants, statement said.
"The family had refused to accept the body without receiving the final payment from the company, leading to the delays. The Hazaribag DC obtained the family's consent and sent a formal request to the Indian Embassy in Kuwait on July 27. The body was brought to Jharkhand on Thursday, when Kishore Mahto, the son of the deceased, and the Vishnugar block development officer received it," it said.

Singh said they shouted 'Go back to your own country' as they ran off. Shaken and bloodied in the attack, the Indian cab driver tried ringing doorbells to ask for help. No one, however, came to his aid. Finally, he dialled 999 and gardai and emergency services arrived at the scene. 'I'm really scared' Singh did not suffer serious injuries in the attack that left his car splattered with blood. He has, however, been left seriously shaken by the incident and feels it will be 'very difficult' for him to go back to working as a taxi driver. 'In 10 years I've never seen anything like this happen,' he told Dublin Live. "I'm really scared now and I'm off the road at the moment. It will be very hard to go back. My children are really scared,' said the father of two, who was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment after the assault. 'Work weekends or stay late daily': Indian manager's shocking ultimatum to employees
A post about an Indian manager allegedly asking an employee to report to work on weekends for 8-hour shifts or add two days extra to their work hours for the coming week has sparked conversations around toxic workplaces among Reddit users. An individual posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat, claiming it's from the manager of one of their friends. It is followed by messages from other employees in the group chat who say they won't be able to work on Saturday and Sunday. In response, the manager slams one of the employees and says that the team's weekend unavailability will be addressed in the office the following week. 'This is not going to work, we need to plan something else, I will address the complete team on Monday, either we have to report to office on Saturday and Sundays for complete 8 hours or need to extend the shift on a daily basis for 2 hours for next three kindly prepare your mindset and come to work on Monday,' the message reads. Another added, 'They do it to reach you outside of work timings— they have no shame about it. Unless it's a genuine emergency, I simply ignore their calls/messages. I even had to block a colleague.' A third shared, 'Teams is documented. When they make requests like this, they don't want evidence. If someone goes to court, they can say it was a rogue manager. But on Teams, every message is logged; they can't do that.' A fourth wrote, 'Absolutely do not work a second on the weekend unless it's your own fault for not being able to in the week. Very slippery slope. Pretty sure none of us gets paid overtime for that.' Forced to work 20 unpaid hours: In a separate incident, a software developer claimed on Reddit about being pressured into working for 20 hours every week, on top of the standard working hours. The employee claimed that the overtime was unpaid. "That's 3 hours every weekday after work and my weekends completely gone,' the employee wrote on Reddit, adding, 'It's unpaid, non-negotiable, and they've made it clear that if I want to grow here, I have to do this.'

Family of Jaipur man abducted in Mali seeks PM's intervention to secure release
The family of a cement industry consultant from Jaipur, who was abducted last month in West African country Mali, on Monday (August 4, 2025) sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to secure his release. The family, struggling with uncertainty, has not received any information on his whereabouts so far. Prakash Chandra Joshi, 61, was among the three Indian nationals abducted in the Kayes region of Mali during an armed assault by suspected terrorists affiliated with Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen (JNIM), a group linked to Al-Qaeda, on July 1. The incident occurred at Diamond Cement Factory, which Mr. Joshi had joined as general manager on June 5. Mr. Joshi's daughter, Chitra Joshi, said at a press conference here that though the family had approached the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Embassy in Mali's capital Bamako and other authorities, it had not received any 'convincing response'. 'We have no information about his location or the demands of the abductors,' she said. 'The factory officials initially informed us about the attack on July 1. Since then, we have not been told anything about ransom or negotiations by the factory, the Embassy, or the MEA,' Ms. Joshi said. The two other abducted persons belong to Telangana and Odisha. Ms. Joshi demanded that the Union government update the three families regularly about the situation and be in communication with them. 'We remain completely in the dark about any concrete action... With every day that goes by, our anxiety and helplessness are growing,' she said. Accompanied by her mother Suman, Ms. Joshi also highlighted the humanitarian concern, saying her father needed regular medicines in view of his health condition and was a strict vegetarian. She said Mr. Joshi had worked earlier in the Middle East and Africa for several years, but had no inkling that foreign nationals could be targeted in Mali's internal armed conflict. The family has since approached the Members of Parliament from Rajasthan and the State authorities seeking their intervention in the matter. Jaipur Rural MP Rao Rajendra Singh, who helped the family and guided it to the MEA, has extended support and remained in touch. Following the incident, the MEA had identified the abducted individuals and said in a statement that the Ministry's senior officials were closely monitoring the evolving situation and remained engaged at various levels to facilitate safe and early release of the Indian nationals. The MEA also said that the Indian Embassy in Bamako was in constant contact with the local authorities and security agencies.
