Paramount May Not Be Done With ‘Transformers' Movies Yet
After 2024's Transformers One came and went, it's been a question of whether we'd actually see the Autobots and Decepticons on the big screen. The answer now appears to be 'yes,' and not just because Paramount's still pretending that crossover with G.I. Joe is happening. According to Matt Belloni at Puck News, the studio is spinning up several Transformers movies. One is said to be helmed by One director Josh Cooley, and will be live-action. The other is said to be coming from ex-franchise steward Michael Bay, who's currently operating as a 'hands-on producer' but could potentially direct. Bay dipped out after 2017's The Last Knight and has maintained a producer credit on later films, but the franchise hasn't been hitting those same financial highs since his exit behind the camera. Meanwhile, Puck didn't have any information on the other three rumored Transformers projects, and the G.I. Joe crossover is said to have two separate ideas that are both in early stages. Either way, this isn't exactly a new position for the franchise: pre-Last Knight, there were said to be a lot of Transformers movies in the works, but plans for a cinematic universe were halted after Knight underperformed. In 2021, Blue Beetle director Angel Manuel Soto was attached to direct a film, and Paramount's talked about doing a sequel to 2023's Rise of the Beasts. All Paramount reportedly has to do is have a Transformers movie in production by 2029 to maintain the rights to the IP. If it's got this many projects in the works, one of them should theoretically be ready by then. Will people be interested in them? That's another matter. Want more io9 news? We've all seen him, the stoic loner with haunted eyes, who only speaks in vague, gravel-voiced riddles about "what happened that day." He's ex-special forces, or maybe just a guy with a mysterious past, but either way, someone definitely died and now he's here to brood, punch walls, and save the world (maybe). A new comedy sketch perfectly roasts this tired movie trope, piling on every tragic backstory imaginable… Dead wife? Check. Lost child? Of course. A dark secret involving the President? Weirdly, yes. The sketch hilariously leans into the melodrama, reminding us how absurdly common it is for every action hero to be emotionally wrecked and justice-bound. It's a perfect reminder that sometimes, the only thing more predictable than the villain… is the hero's trauma.

By her own admission, Lauren Sánchez Bezos did not marry Jeff Bezos in the kind of gown she initially envisioned. Originally, she told Vogue's Chloe Malle that she had visions of a strapless dress. But after going on a Blue Origin space flight to the Kárman line, both her perspective about her life—and style—shifted. 'It went from 'I want a simple, sexy modern dress' to 'I want something that evokes a moment,' and where I am right now. I am a different person than I was five years ago,' she said. So, she researched pictures of brides from the 1950s. One in particular stuck with her: Sophia Loren's wedding dress from the 1958 movie Houseboat. 'I said, 'That's it. That's the dress.'' After several conversations with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Dolce & Gabbana made her a high lace neck mermaid-line gown with 180 hand-finished, silk chiffon-covered buttons that took over 1900 hours to make. 'The whole thing was like a dream,' Sánchez says. Loren's original—and fictional—dress was made by legendary costume designer Edith Head, who received eight Academy Awards (as well as a total of 35 nominations) and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her work with Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures. She's known for crafting the clothes worn by Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday and Breakfast at Tiffany's, Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief, and Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard. It seems likely that Sánchez may have more Old Hollywood fashion nods up her (long lace) sleeves.
