Three people now facing first-degree murder charges in connection to Regina homicide

(GarethDillistone/CTVNews) Regina police have charged two more people with first-degree murder in connection to the death of 35-year-old Aron Lunan, whose body was found near Grand Coulee in June. Thirty-year-old Patrick Akapew and 38-year-old Tyler Wayne Edwards were both arrested and charged on Thursday, Regina police said in a news release. Twenty-four-year-old Britain Volk was charged with first-degree murder earlier this week. On June 10 RCMP were called to a rural area near Grand Coulee, just west of Regina, for the report of a deceased person, later identified as Lunan. Throughout the investigation police discovered that the case originated in Regina, which resulted in Regina police taking over the investigation from RCMP. Akapew and Edwards are scheduled to make their first court appearances Friday morning in Regina, police said. Grand Coulee is about 17 kilometres west of Regina.

London crash causes life-threatening injuries
Highbury Avenue was closed for several hours between Commissioners Road and Bradley Abvenue while police investigated a crash. (Source: Google) Life-threatening injuries have been reported after a crash in London on Thursday night. Around 10 p.m., police closed Highbury Avenue between Commissioners Road and Bradley Avenue for what was described as a 'serious motor vehicle collision.' According to London police, the investigation has been turned over to the Road Safety Section. There is no word on how the crash happened or if any charges have been laid. More details will be provided when they become available.

Man shot in the back while walking riverbank near St. John's Park toward Redwood Bridge
Social Sharing A man is recovering after police say he was shot in the back by an unknown male this week while walking along the riverbank in Winnipeg's North End. The man in his 30s told police he was walking along the riverbank near St. John's Park toward the Redwood Bridge around 8 p.m. Tuesday when a male he didn't know confronted him and shot him in the back. The man, who never saw the shooter, ran to Main Street to call police, a news release said Friday. He was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
