Flights from Savannah to Fort Lauderdale four times per week starting Oct. 9 at $79
Flights from Savannah to Nashville three times per week starting Oct. 9 at $59
Flights from Savannah to Detroit twice per week starting Oct. 10 at $79
'We have been working hard to get Spirit to add SAV to their route structure,' Greg Kelly, Executive Director of the Savannah Airport Commission, said in a statement. 'We believe Spirit is a great fit for our market, and the cities they are adding will be a strong addition for our community and region. We appreciate Spirit for adding us to their system, and we will work hard to ensure their success and growth here in SAV.'

New routes from Spirit and Frontier
Spirit Airlines will connect Fort Lauderdale with Key West. Meanwhile, discount competitor Frontier Airlines will enter Richmond, Va., Corpus Christi, Texas, and Tulsa, Okla. The flights to and from Fort Lauderdale will be Spirit's first to the Texas city. They'll operate four-times weekly beginning Nov. 6, then switch to daily on Dec. 18. Spirit will be the lone carrier flying between Fort Lauderdale and Key West. Florida regional airline Silver Airways serviced the route before ceasing operations last month. Travelers instead often drive to Key West from Fort Lauderdale, a journey of approximately four hours. Spirit is marketing the new route to connecting travelers. A company press release touted easy connections to Key West via Fort Lauderdale from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, New York and Philadelphia. Frontier's new routes from Denver home base Frontier's home base of Denver will be the focal point of service from the carrier's three new destinations. Flights connecting Corpus Christi with Denver will operate twice weekly beginning Oct. 9. Flights between Richmond and Denver will operate twice weekly beginning Oct. 19. The airline will also connect Richmond to Atlanta twice weekly beginning Oct. 17. Tulsa-Denver service will be twice weekly starting Oct. 12. Frontier previously served as many as five cities from Tulsa, Cirium flight schedule data shows, but hasn't flown there since suspending Denver service in March 2022. Spirit Airlines Just Launched a Flight to This Tropical U.S. Island Getaway—and Flights Start at $79
Spirit Airlines will launch a new route from Fort Lauderdale to Key West in November, making it easier to reach the Florida vacation destination. When it takes off, the new flight will be short with a duration of just 50 minutes, connecting Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with Key West International Airport (EYW), according to the carrier. It will operate four times each week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays starting Nov. 6 and increase to daily service starting Dec. 18. Spirit said this new route will become the only direct flight between the two airports. "Key West is a one-of-a-kind beach destination, and now travelers can easily access this island paradise and enjoy Spirit's elevated Guest experience along the way," Spirit Airlines' Vice President of Network Planning John Kirby said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. The new flight will feature a variety of cabins on board, including the airline's version of first class: "Big Front Seats." These seats feature extra leg room, an included carry-on and checked bag, reserved overhead bin space, complimentary snacks and drinks, access to Wi-Fi, and more. Travelers can also book premium economy seats, which come with extra legroom or a blocked middle seat for extra space; as well as book the airline's "Value" seats, which require passengers to pay for extras like seat selection and carry-on bags. The new flight offers Florida travelers an alternative to the drive, which can take more than 4 hours (without accounting for potential traffic during peak tourism days). And best of all, travelers can save on the new route since Spirit is celebrating with introductory one-way fares starting at just $79. To take advantage, travelers must book by Nov. 19, purchase their tickets at least 21 days in advance, and travel between Nov. 6 through Dec. 17 (minus blackout dates from Nov. 20 to Dec. 2). Known for its crystal-clear water and white sand beaches, Key West—and the surrounding Florida Keys communities—boasts a variety of adventures for every traveler. Popular activities include snorkeling, canoeing, and hiking. The island is also famous for its coral reef, which is the only living coral barrier reef in the United States, according to the Florida Keys tourism website. The tropical destination is also home to top hotels and accommodations, including the Sunset Key Cottages, The Perry Hotel, and the Ocean Key Resort & Spa (a T+L World's Best Award winner).

JetBlue is adding new flights in Fort Lauderdale. See destinations and details
About a month after pulling the plug on its last remaining flights from Miami International Airport, JetBlue Airways is ramping up business in Broward. The airline plans to add service this year between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and four new cities: Norfolk, Virginia, Tampa, Atlanta and Austin. The Long Island City-based carrier will also increase frequency between FLL and Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Raleigh-Durham. And the airline will make its premium Mint service more available on flights from Fort Lauderdale, the company announced Wednesday. Seats on all flights can be booked now. They start taking off as early as Oct. 26. The changes indicate that South Florida remains a lucrative market. They come after JetBlue resumed service in July between FLL and Philadelphia and Guayaquil, Ecuador. The airline said all the additions are in response to customer demand. But in June, the airline said it would stop flying from Miami International Airport starting Sept. 3. 'Fort Lauderdale has long been a key market for JetBlue, and we're excited to keep growing with the region,' Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships, said in a statement. The moves also show a one-time low-cost carrier departing from that identity, looking to compete with the larger airlines that depend on business travelers. That's a growing trend across the airline industry. Broward-based Spirit Airlines this month introduced extra leg room and took out the middle row in several rows on many of its flights. It also renamed its cabins in June. MORE: Heading to Key West but don't want to drive? Spirit starting FLL flights JetBlue will offer its premium Mint service on the new flights between FLL and Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix. By this year's winter, every JetBlue flight between FLL and those three cities will offer Mint, with lie-flat seating, improved dining and personalized service. 'Mint is a reimagined premium experience that offers a different level of comfort, privacy and hospitality,' Jehn said. The new flights are a boost for FLL. In 2024, JetBlue accounted for 6.4 million passengers at the airport, second only to Spirit and about 19% of all travelers there. Through the end of June, 2025, JetBlue has had 3.2 million passengers at FLL, an 8.2% decline from last year, but still in second place. The airline is counting that more flights will increase those numbers. This summer, JetBlue i has an average of 72 daily departures to 31 destinations non-stop. In December, that will rise to 95 daily departures to 37 cities.
